I was confused about this restaurant until I asked where to find the restroom. It was only then that all of the pieces fell into place. The food was tasty enough. My crispy beef was more crispy than beef, and the syrupy sauce lacked any spice. Still, it was hot and crispy and good. Just what I’d wanted, in fact, and the reason I’d picked this restaurant. It is mentioned in a few reviews. I also appreciated the pot of tea. The staff was almost nonexistent. Not just for me, but for everyone, including the constant stream of people placing orders or picking up their food. I was facing the door, so watched as people entered, waited at the front counter, waited some more, and then places or picked up orders. One woman waited to place her order, left, and then came back and had to flag someone down a second time. Most people either stayed or disappeared somewhere farther inside the restaurant. I had no idea where. Until I did. Because I was facing the door front of the space I was able to run up and pay after someone else had been brave enough to wave an employee over. I paid and then asked to use the restroom. «Sure, it’s through the bar!» OK, then-off I went to pass through what I assumed would be a small empty spot near the rear of the restaurant. Instead I discovered a full bar! 10 seats long, fully stocked and with a bank of TVs lined up over the mirrored wall. I’d been seated 15 minutes after the restaurant opened at 11:30. It was now no later than 12:30 and the bar was full. Seven people were cozied up to the counter. The bartender took one look at me and pointed towards the back hallway and then went back to his conversation. No one looked up as I left. So my advice to you for the Yo Yo Café is to order takeout. If you live close enough they will even deliver. Just give yourself an extra few minutes to wait on the staff, as they might be busy hanging out in a different part of the restaurant. And if you go with children, you might want to skip a trip to the restroom.

I’ve been ordering from this place for more than 5 years but stopped due to their ridiculously late delivery service. I was craving Thai, so I decided to give them another chance and ordered a green curry, red curry and steamed meat dumplings. The dumpling were super doughy and the meat tasted odd, I wouldn’t recommend it! The green curry was overly sweet, so much so that it could be eaten as a dessert. What I was most upset and super disappointed at was the red curry, anyone who knows their Thai food knows that a plain curry dish doesn’t have peanuts and nowhere in their menu does it state that this dish contains peanuts, it’s not a panang! I’ve order this dish before and there was no peanuts in it. The peanuts were not the only problem with the red curry, it tasted like they used rotten coconut milk and cooked the dish in a moldy sock. Inedible!!! When I called to complain about the dish, the lady who answered the phone was utterly rude and ended hanging up on me! Bad for business and you’ve lost a customer for life! The Thai food at this place is not worth a cent, don’t waist your money! Nasty food

This is our favorite place to eat. Service sometimes lacks depending on the staff changes but the food is always above par. My favorite is Cashew Chicken with shred white meat and $ 1 extra meat. Egg rolls are very good.

This is one of my family’s favorite places to get take-out when we’re craving Asian food, and it is always a reliable option. The chicken drumsticks are our favorite — they’re crispy, tender, and just the right amount of spicy. We also order sushi, pad thai, and Thai iced tea for take-out. They won’t blow your mind, but they definitely satisfy any cravings. So, if you’re looking for a reliable, quick place for decently priced and satisfying Asian food, I’d give Yo Yo Café a try.

I have been coming here since 2007. This place has always been my go to since I live in the neighborhood. Now that I moved to Gaithersburg. MD, I still make trips to come eat here and to also see my favorite waitress who is no longer there :( They definitely get a 5 star for their bomb Sushi from the beginning until today! Sushi here is a MUST as an appetizer. I visited her last night 12÷11÷15 and was very disappointed with everything from my entrée to service! When I arrived it was just me and my husband then about 20 mins later another set of customer came in. I ordered my entrée and waited almost one hour later, I looked around and two other set of customers who came way after me got their entrée before me :(Waitress later came by and ask how’s everything when there’s no food. They then came back again and said«they was a mix up on the order» by now I’m hangry and just did’t want my entrée anymore. Thank God I ordered some Sushi for my appetizer. Now the second problem is once we got the entrée, both mines and my husband entrée were not what we expected after waiting for one hour. I ordered seafood fried rice and my husband ordered spicy tangy chicken. My entrée only has 3 shrimp, 3 small and 2 squid for $ 13. You got to be kidding me when I can order at Kenny’s or New Fortune for $ 10 – 11. To top that it wasn’t even a gourmet dish to be that much. My husband’s dish was way over burnt. His supposedly spicy tangy chicken was not even spicy or whatever tangy was and chicken was burnt so it was hard and tasted burnt. Lastly, I know my level of expectation is like walking into a 5 star restaurant where everything is new and glossy which I didn’t expect when I return here to eat but they really need to upgrade there dishes, forks, spoons and cups. Dishes were cracked & a lot of scratches. Utensils were so scratched up. It made my eating experience even more disgusting. I hope that my review would catch their attention and start doing something about it before it starts going down the hill and all their good for is the Bar in the back. Ultimately, I will just return for their Sushi.

This place is amazing. Have quite a variety of choices, especially on the sushi menu, and all reasonably priced. I come here weekly and the staff is awesome as well. Recommend this place to just about anyone. They also have a bar in the back!

This place is good to me. For others it’s been a hit and miss. I usually go for the cooked sushi and crab ball. I’ve only dine in once and it was fairly quick for everything. The waiter was very nice and made sure we had enough of everything we needed. Parking can be a pain in the butt as there are so many other stores and the restaurant is literally in the corner of the plaza.

Really decent Chinese fast food restaurant. The delivery is pretty quick and the prices are cool. I will be going again. All and all a good spot.

You can tell by the number of check ins I have had at Yo Yo Café in the past month that I like this place. First off, I had been looking for a replacement of China Manor in Burtonsville as my go-to place for Chinese food and was struggling to do so because so few good Chinese food establishments exist within a short drive from my apartments. Yo Yo Café is easily the best I have tried, even though I despise the parking situation in that particular shopping area. My staple is General Tso’s Chicken, and with most places you get soggy chicken in Tso’s pepper sauce. Not here. The last three times I have dined here, the chicken is actually crispy beneath the sauce and delicious. Additionally, my 4 year old daughter will eat nothing but egg rolls at any Chinese place, so luckily the egg rolls here are excellent(not to mention freaking huge) so I don’t feel bad ordering 6 or more at a time. My wife loves the egg-foo yung, even though technically it’s an American dish created in the 80’s and sold at restaurants to appease those who don’t understand. Regardless, she loves it so we keep it coming. One small gripe I have about the place is the diet soda. I am not sure what brand they use or maybe the syrup hasn’t been changed in a while, but the drinks taste off and could probably use a good looking at by the management. Also, the people could be a bit friendlier, but I am thinking a lot of that is more cultural than simply being rude. I am concerned that the restaurant isn’t getting enough regular business. I know they make bank off deliveries and carryout, but the restaurant portion itself barely ever had anyone in it and that cannot be good for the bank account of image. Would also help of Advanced Autoparts wasn’t hogging almost the entire sign in front of the restaurant, making it easier to find.

I honestly don’t even know where to start! I LOVETHISPLACEFROMTHEMOONANDBACK! If you want sushi delivered(which not many places do) get it here! And my favorite appetizer is their fried calamari! Literally the best calamari I’ve ever had, out of all the resteraunt a I’ve been to(high end resteraunt as well) nothing was able to compare to the ones yo yo café serve! Also their Thai combination basil fried rice is to die for! Well if you like fried rice, but want something more special than you have to go for the Thai basil fried rice! Oh and their spicy drum stick wing is sex. Hand down, it is just sex. I love this place tons! The only downfall is there service. There was an elder lady serving us, and before we even got the chance to give her a tip, she asked«no tip?» I mean we obviously left her a very poor tip for such a greed question. But if she’s not there then im sure your service will be lovely!

Get the crispy beef at the restaurant! Don’t do carry out, otherwise it’ll get soggy:( Besides their amazing crispy beef, I also get either the Thai Drunken noodles or the Basil Fried rice with chicken, which are some of their yummiest dishes. Ask them to make it spicy but to cut down on the salt. It can be a bit salty. If you’re in the mood for some Japanese, I also recommend their Dynamite or Rainbow Roll. Quite tasty. Other than that, I don’t go to yoyo for their Chinese food. While their variety may be large, and their prices are decent, there is plenty of room for improvement. I’m Asian, so it’s difficult to appreciate Americanized Asian food: p I’d give it another star if the restaurant was cleaner and the ambience was better, but yoyo café has been around forever and needs serious renovations and updated furniture. There is also a bar in the back of the restaurant that seems sketchy, but is actually quite popular. Their carry-out is also very popular with customers. FYI.

They have everything. I usually get some thai food which is pretty decent. Their Yang Chow fried rice is to die for. I have weekly cravings for it. Pair that with some szechuan green beans and you are set for life! Definitely my go to ordering place. Wish they stayed open later though. I sometimes have the need to feed after 10 and when i pick up the phone to dial them i realize they are closed.

Such a diamond in the ruff. It is a very tiny restaurant with a small bar in the back. Maybe like 9 chairs. But Drinks are cheap!!! It’s like happy hour all day. The BBQ ribs are a favorite of mine and also the kung pao chicken. They can make it mild to very spicy, per your request. Not a lot of people dine-in to eat… It always seems a little slow but the phone is always ringing off the hook for take-out/delivery. It is not a“Chinese carryout fast food«type place, it is a legit restaurant. They are friendly… Especially the Hispanic host/lady who takes carryout orders. One of My favorite Chinese food places in the area. Oh…ps…you won’t find wings and mumbo sauce here lmao

I got food poisoning from a meal at this restaurant on Feb. 3, 2014. I called the manager the next day to inform him. He seemed not to believe it was possible because the food hadn’t «gone bad.» But in reality, food doesn’t need to turn to be contaminated with bacteria. In any case, he offered me a refund on my meal. But guess what? The refund was never forthcoming.

Whenever I feel too lazy to cook or go out I always order from Yo Yos! Most of the time they beat their ETA delivery time, they get the order right the first time(ive had so many bad experiences with another place that I dont even want to mention) and more importantly the food is fresh!

Once again, a little gem is unearthed in a suburban shopping center, between Advanced Auto and Dollar Tree. I was kinda thinking moo goo gai pan when I went in but the menu inspired a Thai trip. Looking around, it’s a softly lit medium sized room, large and small tables and booths, Japanese prints and scrolls on the walls, sushi bar in the corner. The Chinese and Sushi parts of the menu are routine, but the whole back half is Thai. I started with the beef salad, a generous portion sized like the entrees in most Thai places. The beef is very savory, much like larb, with lettuce, peppers both bell and hot, red onions, and a nice scalp-sweating kick, about two chilies on the ShopHouse scale. The drunken noodles are perfectly al dente, the pork has hints of 5 spice powder and the basil leaves in the mix add a bit more complexity. Less kick, and my tongue is grateful for the respite. Very cordial service, rather ordinary hot tea. And another surprise as I head through the rear for a pit stop — a sports bar. I’m seeing at least two more visits, one for the sushi and one for the Thai your way list: pick a protein and pick one of eight sauces. If there is anything to gripe about it would be the heavy hand with the onions and red bell peppers. I didn’t even mind eating Asian food with a fork!

I am a FAN of their food and great dining-in service. Not so excited about the delivery service though. they are often late and forget to bring most of the sauces. Once I was unable to get the food delivered to my house while I was at work because they had to see my CC I used to order with… Other than this one incident, love their food!

Good, cheap Chinese, Thai and Japanese food! Came here with a couple friends on a hot MD summer day. Small place so I expected a small menu, boy was I wrong. The have Japanese, Thai, and Chinese food! I mean where can you find all these in one place! I ordered some sushi and Gen. Tso’s Chicken(i know, I know) The Sushi was decent, large portion and the price is cheap for what you get :). The Gen. Tso’s was good, nice and crispy but not so hard you could break a diamond studded tooth on it. The sauce was good also, sweet and tangy. Friends all got good food as well, the server was a little slow but I think the family of the owner(s) works there, wife, mom, owner, son. I would say this, don’t ask for too many food changes or substitutions, since they dont really care lol. Over all a good place to go for cheap sushi and a wide array of food. Enter the Dragon…
