Most of the time it’s a sea of parking meters, but a few times a year it’s a fun venue for Taste of Wheaton and the occasional Unilocal event. Lots of ethnic restaurants and other small businesses surround it, many more a short walk away. Note that the meters need not be fed after 6PM(but be sure to check in case they get greedy like Bethesda). Metro garage kitty corner is free on weekends.

There wasn’t a Unilocal Elite check in created for this event so understand that this review is for the Elite event. The premise was to visit the«Hidden Gems» in the Wheaton-Glenmont area and actually collect gems that would be used at the auction held at the actual Elite event. Bidding started at 1 gem and as the interest level of others was piqued they increased in number of gems bid. There was a hostile take over here and there but it was all in fun. The drinks were delicious and we were treated to a variety of hummus and pita bread by Zoes Kitchen. Taco Bar came in and captured our attention with their el pastor and chicken tacos. East Hollywood Café tamed the savages with sio pao(small buns with meat filling), chicken w/rice and spring rolls. Alas, BeClaws had me doubling back for the delicious gumbo and steamed shrimp. They offered mussels and jambalaya as well. Wheaton Triangle is the hub for a potpourri of eclectic eateries. You name the ethnicity and it was all within walking distance waiting for you. This Unilocal event like many others was held to raise funds and awareness for charities. Although it was very windy, occasionally the sun would come out and warm you up. If that didn’t work the bartenders had some«anti-freeze» that sure kept me warm. Make it a point to find at least two eateries that you haven’t tried and grab a friend and check them out. I was pleasantly surprised by the hidden gems I was exposed to on this fun outing.

Great outdoor area to enjoy some good music and meet new people. I love that they have«Taste of Wheaton» every year and it gets better and better every time! Their festivals are awesome, always a great time!

It’s nice to see all that the restaurants in this area have to offer. Your able to try a little bit of this and little bit of that for a mere 2.00. I’m a creature of habit so I really look forward to these festivals to kinda break out and sample other things I would likely never try if left to my own devices. It’s also nice to get out in the sun and walk around taking in all the delicious aroma. Enjoying the live music and rides for the kids. I think they did a great job representing the diverseness that we have in the area.

Wheaton Triangle is really just a gathering place, but what the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce does with it makes it hip and happening. Once a year the Taste of Wheaton is held here. It’s a really great way to show off the eclectic cuisine that Wheaton has to offer. There is also the summer band sessions which I have not personally attended. Then there is the Friday night outdoor movies which I did attend this past Friday. Not a high turn out, which was a plus for us. What I can’t understand is why families would bring their one to ten year olds to watch The Hunger Games. Perhaps the biggest turn out here is for their Fourth of July Fireworks. They are pretty grand, and parking in the garage off Reedie(behind the new Safeway) is easy. There are traffic cops during The Taste and the fireworks to prevent any casualties.
