Rich’s for the Home – Silverdale

I am not an avid Unilocaler. In fact, I don’t leave reviews unless i encounter something egregious.
I want to let potential buyers beware of purchasing something that is potentially harmful and illegal.
BUYER BEWARE.
I purchased a wood burning stove from Rich’s Sale sheet. This was a printed out list of deals they could help me save some money with. They showed me a list of ‘sale items’ that included the exact stove I was looking for, but was listed as a ‘Factory Second’. I asked a lot of questions about condition, warranty and the like; I was assured it was an item that didn’t meet factory standards and was sent back to correct, and was under full-​factory warranty and the like.
When the stove arrived today at my house, I was alerted by the independent installer as to its condition.
When taken out of the box, we were all in shock. The porcelain coating had been chipped off and repainted with black paint. Some of it was falling off onto the van’s floor as we opened and closed the doors. The inside of the firebox had been stripped of it’s bricked façade.
The firebricks on the floor of the flrebox had been spray-​painted silver; when turned over, they were charred.
The ash tray underneath was well-​burned and warped. The strip of insulation around the inside of the door was drooping a falling off in places. The installer was appalled and suggested I not accept the stove. When we looked further, the date of production was 2011.
I was shocked. We were all shocked. The installer told me this stove would be a fire hazard, as it was not in a condition to keep fire within the unit. THEY SOLD ME A FIRE HAZARD!
Get this: I saved about $ 300 off LIST PRICE of a new unit.
I called and talked to four different people during the course of that day, all handing me off like a hot potato to someone else who would assuredly call back immediately. Five hours passed. When a manager called back he offered me a different new stove for the same price.
What they don’t know is that I have a friend who is dating one of their employees at a different store. While I was waiting for a call back from someone I got in touch with my friend. They told me the salespeople who have worked there awhile know not to sell products off the sale sheet unless they can physically see the units themselves or through another employee. «We’ve learned the hard way» to avoid, presumably, these situations.
What this says to me is that my experience has happened before, they got stung by unhappy customers, and have decided to continue unloading defective products at small discounts.
I hope you read this as a potential customer of Rich’s and take the warning to heart.
They will have a lawsuit on their hands if this continues.

I had viewed a 60% off sale (on TV) for Rich’s, so was anxious to check them out in search of patio furniture.
Their showroom is packed with patio furniture, bbq’s, fireplaces, umbrellas, and spa’s. There was alot to try and cram into one showroom… but they did a good job.
Their sales people are very polite and knowledgable, informing me the pros & cons of different labels/​brands of patio furniture. It was fun to wander thru their showroom and just ask questions about stuff.
I would say they are rather expensive… and NO, I wasn’t able to get in on the 60% off items cuz there wasn’t any. He told me that with them being a smaller store they didn’t have as much room for the sale items… and, that the 60% off items were all last years models (older items). Hmmmm…
I did have an issue with the delivery of my patio furniture in that they couldn’t find my home… they were not able to pull my address up on their GPS. That was fine, I understood that cuz I’m in a new housing development. I tried to give directions, but they said they were from out if town, & weren’t familiar with the area. So, I had to drive down & meet them at the showroom & have them follow me back. I waited in the showroom for almost ½ hour before they showed up.
I will say; however, the personnel in the showroom weren’t happy with the situation, and stated they would refund my $ 100 delivery fee due to the inconvenience.
Minor hiccup I would say… Yes, I had issue with the delivery… but, once they arrived… they were clean, polite, personable, and delivered the furniture to my allocated space.
YES, I will return & have already recommended them to two other people… one of which I actually took to the showroom… and, I myself have returned to buy additional items for the patio.
