Simi Valley LensCrafters really came through for me, THREE times, on the same prescription!
I originally selected Tiffany (plastic) frames for my new prescription. A couple weeks into wearing the frames, I noticed that they were leaving a strange burn type rash on my skin behind my ears. Very odd as I always pick plastic over metal frames and never had this issue before). So I went back to the store, explained the problem and they let me select new frames. This time I selected Prada (plastic) frames (this would be my third pair of Prada brand frames) so I felt pretty safe selecting the brand. However, these were even worse — this time the rash was over the bridge of my nose and the back of my ears — basically anyplace the frame touched my skin.
I was so frustrated as I’m not one who ever suffered from sensitive skin before. But more than being frustrated, I was also embarrassed. I mean how could I go back to them and say, «guess what, these irritate my skin too…» So I decided that I would just use my old prescription glasses. After several months, I decided that I really wanted to wear my new Prada glasses (I spent a lot of money on them after all), so I carefully cut out leather strips and superglued it in all the spots that touched my skin. It worked beautifully (for a while). but after some time, the rash started to come back. Grrr!!! So this time I contacted LensCrafter corporate to ask them if there was anything that could be done? I was not eligible for new frames or lenses (though my insurance) for another year.
I explained that LensCrafter in Simi already came through by letting me exchange the first pair, and that I don’t expect them to do that again — especially since I allowed so much time to laps over.
The corp office said that they would have the store manager contact me. A couple days later I received a call from the store manager, and she said that they really couldn’t give me a 3^rd pair of glasses. Which is understandable, so I asked if they would be willing to put my current prescription into one of my old Prada frames — and she agreed to do that for me. Except, when they went to add the new lens to my old Prada frame — the frame cracked! Just my luck!
The store manager really came threw, however. She said I could come in and pick out a new metal/​wire frame (not plastic, since the plastic styles are what seem to be causing the rash issue). So I went back to a Tiffany metal frame style and PHEW! so far so good. I am so grateful for LensCrafter’s willingness to work with me on this unusual issue.
In my opinion, they went above and beyond! THANK YOU LensCrafter!

I see lots bad reviews. But went back anyway. Pamela helped me. She was great. Professional knowledgable and had me in and out quickly. I ordered prescription lenses and was told a couple weeks. I was pleasantly surprised when my lenses came in in just a few days. I went back and again had Pamela help me. She had me in and out with same great attitude and service as before. Great service Pamela. Thank you!

I came in to check on the price of glasses/​contacts. An employee with super bright dirty red hair stated she would help when she was done, so I waited in the front by the doors. She did not look professional at all.
While I was in line, there was another customer that cut in front of me that had previously cancelled her appointment. She cut in front of me right as the frumpy dressed employee walked over. Then the employee opted to help her instead of me when I was there first which was obvious… since I had been waiting alone for 10 or so minutes. Which resulted in me not being able to be get seen by the optometrist… since NOW they were booked. Really?! Never coming back again.
I mentioned it to the employee with red hair and she said she was sorry. How rude and unprofessional. I guess their ‘appearance’ matches their service…

This place just like the other 1 star Unilocalers sucks. I was given a two in the afternoon appointment and the day before they tell me it is a 3 pm appointment. The person on the phone said the doctor is out to lunch at two. Nobody makes appointments for two. Then I guess a person by the name of nobody works at their store.

Very prompt, professional, helpful, friendly and affordable! The entire staff gets an A+ from me. I will be back and referring many people to that location.

Arrived at 3:55 for a 4:00 appointment. Guy with a sales manager on his name tag (didn’t get his name) gives me a clipboard and asks me to fill in my info. When complete, I placed the clipboard back on the counter and sat down. A minute later he walks by and I tell him I put the clipboard back. He just give me a blank stare and walks over to help someone on the floor. He then proceeds to take multiple phones calls. Come 4:30, he says goodbye to his co workers and walks out the door. Never acknowledged me after first contact. I decided I had enough and walked out right behind him. As we walk through the parking lot, he turns around to see who is behind him and still does not even acknowledge he left a new customer hanging. Guess I will be taking «m eye» money elsewhere.

I visited your wonderful store on Friday morning. I had my insurance card and my current frames (Oakley). Even though I did not purchase the frames from LensCrafters, the associate still was able to adjust the Oakleys so that they did not roll off my nose! I picked out two pairs of Polos and said I’m not sure if my particular lenses would fit. He asked if I had a prescription which I did not. I was able to get an appointment at that time, 11:30. Once my claim paperwork was done, I was in the chair. Once that was done, I merely had to wait one hour until the setting was done. My copay for the ultimate setting was $ 5 more, and yes I added insurance, I came wth coupons from the
website so it was a wash. The coating is much better than what I have on my previous frames, I’m very light sensitive. The selection is not as vast as I would expect but I like the weight of these new frames. I’ll be back soon for some shades!

I had a wonderful experience at LenCrafters. I came in yesterday after getting a prescription for glasses (whoopee I’m blind) and was less than happy to even think about picking out glasses… I was very impressed by the selection of brands they carry. I paced up and down the aisle, mostly fondling the Ray Bans, and my boyfriend tried helping me choose a style but to no avail. After 3 or 4 advances made by the employees to try and help me, a very friendly, down-​to-​earth girl brought out a display of more colored Ray Bans they carried, but upon noticing my frown, turned my attention to Dolce & Gabbana. She believed the square frame would compliment my oval face. I loved that she was so straight forward and honest with me, as if we were girl friends, it made the whole decision so much easier to make. And she was right! I give my entire experience with LensCrafters 5 Stars and would recommend anyone needing new glasses to go here first. I even stayed after they had closed but no one ever rushed me. The fact that my glasses were ready the next day was not only a lifesaver but a huge convenience as well.

Friendly staff lots of variety on sunglasses! Leo was very knowledgeable and took his time explaining different exams that were available to us.

I want to acknowledge that we received better «care» on our 2^nd visit.
My husband went to Lenscrafters, because I recommended the optometrist there. However, I suggested that he NOT buy his prescription here due to my experience ( Unilocaled). He did anyway, and the same two women managed to «trick» him into an $ 85 purchase of reading glasses, though we could obtain 100% coverage through our insurance. These particular ladies told him there was NO lens completely covered with our insurance plan — untrue. He could not read the small receipts, because it’s a small font. What they «charged» him for was an «upgraded» polycarbonate material ($ 85 copay).
I returned with him bringing along in our Benefit Summary, as Lenscrafters is a IN-​NETWORK PROVIDER with our plan.
Another associate acknowledged that the standard lens IS 100% covered. However, we opted for a PROGRESSIVE lens (rather than a SINGLE) and that required a $ 65 co-​pay. We decided to order a progressive lens for me too. Unlike my husband’s glasses, mine were not ready the same day — they said the lens cracked and they needed to order a new set, which could take more than a week … I’m currently waiting.
They didn’t talk us into the «upgraded» polycarbonate lens, because I was talked into it with my prior purchase (Oct 2013) — they’d said it is a better lens for the eye and more scratch resistant. Despite my care of these glasses, they have a scratch. I keep them in their case, even though I need to repeatedly take them on and off. I clean them only with the special solution and cloth that I bought at Lenscrafters. My polarized sunglasses that I paid $ 45 at Costco and have had for 2+ years do not have scratches though I toss them in and out of my purse, without a protective case.

UPDATE: the next day the string around my new lens broke. Now many might say, «This guys experience wasn’t great!» BUT, it’s what happens after that matters. It’s how the business deals with your issue.
Back to this … So I walk in at 7:30p after a long day at work, I just wanna go home with my vision in tact. I ask if they can fix it but unfortunately the lab techs had just left. The guy behind the counter checks my account and finds out I bought the 1 year warranty plan (always buy the warranty people, trust me) so he walks over to the wall, finds my frame, brand new, pops out the fake lens’ and puts my prescription lens’ in. Voila! Brand new glasses.
NOW THAT’S CUSTOMER SERVICE! They have me for LIFE!!!

I guess the one star would be a mercy one, and necessary to write a review. Real though this place sucks! I mean seriously sucks!
First off I would like to acknowledge the less than excited staff, that are hands down the most useless people in existence. No exaggeration here either! I would be embarrassed if I owned this place!
We arrive when the store opened… Walked in…(cricket, cricket)… Hello?!? «Hey you person with the name tag staring into space!!! Hello??? May I see…» He slowly wonders off into back of the store sort of hissing behind a wall.” Stealthy lil S.O.B. Not! 2 hours later… (yeAh really) we finally get to see some. We then reluctantly place an order,(No choice, Asian, blind as hell, and need to drive). One hour? 2?3? Naaaaay! I call at 5, on hold soooo long I arrive at the store still on hold to see genius and his fellow awesomely crappy service people, standing. Doing nothing! Not even answering phones! Glasses ready? Ummmm?’ «oh yeah, you picked up 2, and 1 is here.» What? Wrong! «Oh wait,» she says. «Oh yeah, we are behind. Maybe like 7?!» I mean, you have ONE job, how do you f@$k that up?!? LensCrafters of Simi, do yourself a favor and cleanse yourself of these useless, lazy people! Your customers, not just me, HATE them! With like a nuclear capability. This place stinks and I hope that guys get hemorrhoids! The mean ones!

If I could give them one star I would! Terrible service is their biggest problem. Today my son and i went and the manager gave me major stink eye for being 10 minutes late. Then he proceed to complain about nonsense. I left and vowed never to return. Found another eye doc here on Unilocal that is 5 stars. Worked out well in the end.

I was very skeptical about coming in and getting an exam done since it has some poor reviews. I currently don’t have insurance so I figured I’d try it out since it was better priced than other optometrist around here in Simi. There were two women working and they were both very nice and helpful, I didn’t have an appointment for the exam but they were able to take me right away. I did the full exam and was very please with the optometrist there! She was very professional, nice and I could tell she loves what she does. Even though I didn’t find a pair of glasses I liked at this LensCrafters I absolutely loved the service I got and am definitely coming back next year for my yearly exam!

What crappy service! Walked in to the front desk only to be ignored by some ignorant blond girl. Finally walked out after wasting 20 minutes of my life

I went to Lenscrafters because a friend recommended it. I was reasonably pleased by the experience. I booked my appointment online and I was surprised that they even offer same day appointments. The eye exam portion with with eye doctor was very thorough and high tech. They have all these machines that I never seen before. The doctor was very nice, patient and funny. Spent sometime picked out glasses. The staffs were very nice and helpful in helping me making the final decisions. I also got to try out the measuring system on the commercial, thought that was cool. The glasses were ready before I leave the mall (1 – 2 hrs). I will recommend this place and go again. I love my new glasses!

Awful. I needed a pair of temporary glasses. They showed me a pair of blue plastic frames that were in their clearance bin 50% off the frames and lenses. The frames were nothing to write home about, but were only $ 150 before the discount so they could do.- Their entire store inventory was SO small there was nothing else that would work.
When I sat down with a guy who said he was a supervisor he started in with his calculator — showed me nothing in writing and said those plastic glasses would be well over $ 850 with the big discount included. He thought that was a amazingly great price. I got up and left. I eventually spent $ 180 on a pair of glasses elsewhere that were far more beautiful. Never going to any lenscrafters again… let all of your friends know.

Downgrade to ZERO stars.
I decided that i just wanted to purchase my contacts on my own, so I asked to get my prescription from them, and forgo the followup visit. The optometrist REFUSED to give me my prescription unless I return for a follow up! Outrageous! I tried to plead with her and explain that its impossible for me to have time to do an appointment during their business hours, even weekends, but she refused. I paid for my examination, she gave me contacts for my eyes based on theexam that I paid for and now I want my prescription!!!

So I heard that Lens Crafters was great and inexpensive, but when I went there, it took over 2 hours for my eye appointment!
Let me be clear, the people that work there are SUPER nice.
However, I felt really pressured by them to buy all their stuff and get the more expensive options.
In the end, even with refusing almost every expensive option, I spent way more than my insurance will cover. All I got was glasses, an exam, and a prescription for contacts.
I’m supposed to go back for a contact re-​exam where they can again push buying my contacts through them.
Also, they mostly only sell higher-​end frames. They don’t have anything generic at all.
