Mercado places like this are all over, with fresh produce, groceries and butcher counter, then the take-out food in another area. You have Mercado Guadalajara Newbury Park and Camarillo just like this. Honestly, after eating from all three, the Camarillo location is the tastiest. That’s probably because they are more restaurant than market. At this one in Simi on a Monday, I had what I’ve had at the others, a lengua burrito. It was bland. I’ll bet those tongues they have in the warmer are from over the weekend. The lengua was squishy, almost like tongue Jell-O. lol The beans and rice in it were bland, the cilantro and red onion too sparse, the tortilla too long on the stove top and almost stale. It’s a hefty burrito but not worth $ 6.99+ by any means. When in Simi, I’d go back to Los Tacos Locos on 1854 Cochran St. The food is better and they give free chips, plus 3 kinds of salsas for your take out. Even Newbury Park Mercado Guadalajara gives radishes, and grilled green onions and jalapenos for free in a styrofoam container.

I often go here and enjoy getting food from here. But on my last visit there was an issue with prices not being marked on their products. It seemed like the employees were just throwing prices out at random. When we got to the register a young lady with red hair charged us. My mother asked her the price, the red head turned to one of her coworkers to ask for the price. The red head did not make sure that my mother was informed of the price and charged her anyway. My mother politely asked for her money back. The girl said she could not return the money to her card because of the computers system. She continued to be rude and sarcastic with us until we exited. The owner was outside and when we tried to talk to him, he was on the phone. We waited for 5 minutes to talk to him. When he didn’t hang up, we wrote a note and gave it to him. Hopefully the owner and the employees of the store learn better costumer service skills.

I been there once for only 2min and l never comeback there any more. The cashier, who introduced himself as manager of this place and his name was Francisco, he is too aggressive to costumers and discriminate between the client. I was shopping there and I had a regular small laptop backpack. He ask me too put my backpack on cashier table while tapping my backpack whit his hand. At the end of my shopping when I come back to cashier, paid and took my backpack I ask him why you ask me to take out my backpack while I can see other costumers with backpack and big purse? Francisco told me: I don’t like it! I just shocked. It was my first time I was there and I didn’t expect such a answer from him and I just left there.

Not going to be too harsh. Meat was overcooked, and greasy. You can tell it had been sitting for a while. The same with the chicken. Seasoning was bland. Portions were good and so was price, only reason for the third star. I’ll make the hour drive to King Taco instead of going here.

The best tacos I have gotten in Simi. Bit of a wait but just fantastic. Have had the pollo, asada, and carnitas. The carnitas especially stood out. Also, these suckers were filled to the brim, more in them than any other place in Simi.

Mercado Guadalajara is that little market you might pass a thousand times without evening noticing it is there. Its in a strip mall and not well differentiated from the other businesses. There is two reasons to go there. The Mexican deli(hot food) and the butcher/meat counter. The Deli has all the favorites, carne asada, el pastor, carnitas, lengua, and machaca. All of it is really nicely cooked and very authentic to the Mexican style of cooking, but then again I am a gringo. They serve it all in tacos burritos and tortas. Its a great place to pick up prepared meats for parties or events. I recently had the torta carnitas. Served on a Mexican style roll, plenty of carnitas, with beans, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions, and a pickled jalapeño. Very tasty and substantial. they don’t skimp on the meat. There are a couple of picnic tables out front, if you wanted to eat right there. A little awkward, but it works for me. Their marinated meats, strip steak(carne asada) and the pollo are great for barbequing. They also have prepared salsa, pico de galo, guacamole, onions and cilantro right there. Its an instant taco party. Someone pick up a 12-pack and we’re rolling!

Great place to pick up some affordable authentic tacos, good service, and a good selection of both groceries and various meats. One of my favorites for a quick lunch!

The counter always has a special — 2 tacos for $ 1. The type of meat for the taco changes. I’ve seen chicken, goat, pork on the specials so far. Regular taco prices are $ 1 per taco. Ask for an extra of container of salsa. Sometimes the tacos don’t get an even coating of salsa in the rushed taco making. Also, if you want fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, or salsas, look for the icey bins near the onions on the weekends. Ice cream popsicles are $ 1, so save some room for dessert. My favorite is the arroz con leche.

This review is for the food counter, not the market which was very clean and organized, not like other Mexican markets. I have to say the food prices are very low, the taste lacks everything. I ordered 4 tacos, two asada and two carnitas, the asada was just barely OK, I’ve had way better just a few block north and the carnitas was better but the green salsa sucked. I would of payed more for better flavor, but maybe they were just off today. I have to say that everyone there was very nice and kinda hurts to give this review, but I most likely will not be back :(sorry to all you 4 – 5 star reviewers.

Sometimes I’m a fan… other times I’m not. I guess it just depends on my pickiness . The store has the best Carne Asada in town. I used to pick some up all the time to BBQ when I used to eat meat. Now I only come here for the torta’s de carnitas! For 5.79+tax you get your moneys worth. Its not the best tasting pork, but it will do. Just add some green salsa, and you’re good to go!

A great little place in Simi to get some Carne Asada for your Barbecue or have them make you some from their counter. They make tacos and other goodies in the back of the store. At only .99 cents per taco it’s a pretty good deal and a fresh one at that. The staff are nice so it makes it easier to come back. Two thumbs up. Support local businesses!

It’s really hard to find cheap and good non-franchise place to eat in Simi Valley. This is definitely a gem when it comes to cheap and good. It’s a store, but if you go to the back of the store and find a food counter that sells tacos and burritos. I’ve been here a few times and enjoy all the tacos which includes the typical asada, buche, etc.
