A local Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and formal, if a little run down.(Although they are supposedly moving to a nicer location in the very near future.) That said, I still think Trattoria is appropriate for a date night. The food is home/hand made. I’ve tried several of the pasta dishes and don’t have any across the board complaints. On one occasion I ordered the chicken picatta and it was beyond salty; clearly there had been a mistake in the food’s preparation. But that was an anomaly. Also, a couple times the salads have looked a little wilty. But I have generally been very satisfied with the food, and have particularly enjoyed their spicy seafood dishes. They also have a nice lunch buffet that normally contains three or four entrees, with soup/salad and bread. The only other issue is that their menu can be less than clear; it is not always obvious whether a dish comes with pasta or other sides, so make sure to ask your server if you have questions.

Went here with a friend the food was bland and the bread they gave us was just warmed up in the microwave. His plate had some potato wedges just swimming in gravy and peas. We were disappointed as this restaurant use to be in South Sioux and never had been there until they moved but heard good things. Looks like they went downhill. Def over priced might as well go to the Ol Olive Garden you’ll end up happier.

Food could have been delicious but it was so salty that we could not finish our meals. Service was fine. Restaurant is moving next-door which is good because we nearly froze in their current location! Staff was so kind to move us to a warmer table, but we still had to wear out coats to eat our salty food.

A great lunch buffet! They serve around 8 authentic Italian dishes that taste freshly made and like they haven’t been sitting in a buffet pan. In addition there is fresh bruschetta, salad, and mini cheesecake varieties. For $ 11, not many places can rival this lunch buffet

My wife and I agree – this is the best restaurant in Sioux City! The food is excellent, authentic, and I’ve not been disappointed by a dish yet. Definitely try their lunch buffet, as you’ll have a chance to try many of their dishes and see just how awesome their food is. The price is fair for the great food that you get, and the weekday lunch buffet is a steal! I’d like to address what some other reviewers have mentioned about the poor service – this is somewhat true. However, as someone who’s eaten there more times than I can count, the servers are not at all trying to ignore customers, they are simply working multiple roles. Cleaning tables, taking orders, working the kitchen, tending to the buffet, etc. This can come across as rude or poor service until you realize that they are constantly busy with the effort of running a restaurant, not simply on waiting tables. This could be fixed with a dedicated wait staff, but it seems to be a small family operation just working hard to make great food and get by.

Everything was perfect! Absolutely the best Italian food I’ve ever had. I ordered the chicken piccata it was so flavorful. Service was amazing they even stayed open after hours for us. We even ordered extra food to take about to our hotel rooms. Be sure to finish your meal by ordering the tiramisu for dessert.

As an Italian New Yorker who has recently moved to the area, and seeing that there are only two italian restaurants in Sioux City, I really wanted to like this restaurant. Unfortunately, I did not. The only thing I liked about this place was the service from the very nice older gentleman. I think we was a host/busser. We had more service from him than our server, who came to our table briefly about 3 times and never refilled our drinks. My date ordered the baked rigatoni al forno, and I ordered penne primavera, which was penne pasta with broccoli in a garlic sauce. No salads were included. Bread was not very good. There were slices of lukewarm regular bread, and chunks of focaccia bread with sauce and parmesan cheese on top. My date’s rigatoni was brought out 5 minutes before my dish. As someone with a history working in restaurants, this is a huge no-no. I tasted his and the sauce reminded me of my grandmother’s sauce from when I was a little girl in New York. Traditional but outdated. I didn’t care for it, but he liked it. I prefer a thicker, fresher sauce. When my penne primavera was finally brought out, it was the wrong dish. Linguine with shrimp and broccoli. It was the gamberi primavera. I had to wait once again for them to fix my dish, and by the time I got my food, my date was almost finished with his. This time they brought out linguine again(NOT penne) with just the broccoli. The linguine they have at this place is actually more like a fettuccini. Wider and flatter than normal linguine.(And I hate fettuccini.) I sighed and accepted it anyway since I had waited so long already. I took one bite and spit it out. The pasta was overcooked inedible mush. The garlic sauce had a gross flavor. Did they just remove the shrimps from the previous dish? I don’t know for sure. The reason I wonder is because they brought it out with the wrong pasta again. I pushed the plate away and we asked for the check. The server didn’t seem to think anything was wrong even though the food was untouched. Or he just didn’t care. When we got the handwritten check, the price for the«primavera» was $ 17-something. I was charged for the more expensive shrimp dish. I notified the server, and he ended up taking $ 10 off. I won’t be returning. I could have made the dish better and quicker at home, which is what we will have to be doing from now on. It is pretty sad when Olive Garden is a better choice than a family owned italian place.

They’ve taken the feedback seriously and greatly improved the service. The food is as amazing as ever but the service now also matches that. Got served right away, waiter immediately helped us and had our food in 15– hot and delicious!!!

Not impressed at all. We waited 15 mins before any staff greeted us as there was no hostess. Once at our table, we were never offered a wine list and were missing simple salt/pepper shakers. Hubby had the chicken fettucini alfredo and I had the chicken parmagiana. His was lacking flavor and the chicken was dry, mine was ok but have had better. After our meal, dessert was never offered until we mentioned it. Over all, the food was mediocre and the service terrible. We will not return

Came in with a party of four for Sunday brunch. The was my first visit here. I am looking forward to ordering off their menu. The Sunday brunch was very good with many options. They also had a cook to order omelette bar that was a favorite among our group. Also, gaining high marks were the ravioli, cheese tortellini, and chicken cacciatore. The deserts were very nice and fresh as well.

A red sauce Italian joint that rises above the norm. Came in with a party of eight for dinner on a weeknight and we were all so pleased. We would have loved to have enjoyed the weather on the patio, but were told alcohol wasn’t allowed there. Decent assortment of wines, all one price: $ 6 a glass and $ 30 per bottle — that’s a model I can appreciate. Service wasn’t rushed. All the standards were represented; picatta, saltimbocca, etc. I thought about ordering the arrabiata, but figured it would probably be underspiced for my liking. My husband did instead, and it came plenty hot with lots of garlic and herb flavor — very tasty. I just did the spaghetti and meatballs. Other than wanting the pasta to be a smidge more al dente, I was quite pleased. Some of the entrees came with a spinach side, and all reports were that it was well– seasoned and delectable. Well worth a visit — food is satisfying and flavorful.

Best bruschetta we’ve ever had(and we’ve had it all over the country). Absolutely wonderful main dishes. Very reasonably priced(average around $ 14/plate) and large portions. We could tell the chef knew what they were doing. We also had the tiramisu for dessert which was wonderful. It was a large piece and came with a wonderful lime sauce on the side which was different. The atmosphere is wonderful. Romantic and warm. Makes a perfect casual or formal dinner/date location. VERYHIGHLYRECOMMENDED!!!

My wife and I went here for lunch yesterday. We were promptly seated and offered a beverage. Our order was promptly taken, my wife ordered the chicken Parmesan sandwich which comes with fries. I ordered the chicken panini which was good. They definitely get 5 stars for service, my wife rates the chicken Parmesan sandwich 5 stars, I’ll give the chicken panini sandwich 4 because I tried the chicken Parmesan sandwich and it was awesome, mine lacked flavor, needed some herbs or a flavorful melted cheese. They also offer a mild sausage panini and a veggie panini, lasagna, several other pasta choices plus minestrone soup, a soup of the day and several appetizers. Great downtown location in the old Strykers Restaurant and Eagles Club spot, next to where Bank Shot Billiards used to be. We’ll definitely be back. Never got to try their old South Sioux City location, great decision on moving to Sioux City. Excellent value for your money here too. Two sit down lunches for about $ 17 is what you expect to pay for fast food. It’s a quiet atmosphere here but I expect people to begin finding out that this a a great week day lunch spot! I haven’t tried it yet but I hear they have an awesome Sunday brunch.
