History

Established in 1965.

Jack was an expert silversmith in Europe in 1965. He moved to the United States in 1973 and worked for other companies as he pursued his dream of having his own business, He worked hard and very long hours to make this dream possible. In 1993, he opened his ownshop in Chicago at the historic 5 North Wabash, admist all of the downtown jewelers. He needed a bigger location and moved to the new shop at the landmark Pittsfield Building in 2001.

He added a 2nd location in Skokie in 2002, complete with a shop to do all his magic, and still had the office downtown.

Jack has done work for a lot of famous people, including Oprah, Don Wade& Roma Tiffany, Nieman-​Marcus, Stanley Paul, and many other celebrated people.

Jack and Ani welcome your antiques and get pleasure in making them look like new!.They are very honest and responsible and look after your precious items, just like they were their own.

Estate pieces and heirlooms and all sentimental pieces will be rejuventated.

My mother had a sterling silver candelabra the two arms of which had each broken off. The arms were completely severed. I brought it to Baroque without much hope that it could be repaired. I was amazed at the result: Our candelabra was completely rebuilt and restored to like-​new condition, as if it had never been damaged. Jack is a highly skilled master craftsman who takes pride in his work. He did a superb job with the candelabra and I am totally pleased with the outcome. He rates a 5-​star in my book.

I recently took some very old and tarnished door hardware to Baroque to be replayed. Though it took a while to get back, it was beautiful ! It looks new and is completely operational. This shop does excellent work !

Baroque Silver did a stellar job polishing and rewiring a pitted, solid brass antique light fixture at a fraction of the cost of what that place on Green Bay Road would have charged. It honestly looks like a brand new light fixture and I am simply amazed. I am very happy with the service and the owners.

I recently went back to Baroque to have my brass mailbox replated, after searching on line for a replacement. Mine is solid brass and the cost to replace it was so high that I knew it made more sense to repair and keep my mailbox, which fits well with the house and is the right size and shape. My first experience with Baroque over ten years ago, when the work done to replate family silver was superb, was the reason I returned and I am very glad I did. Beautiful work, fair price and extremely accomodating and personal service. The reviewer that commented about «poor English» and «bait and switch» is malevolent, probably racist, uses improper grammer and should not have been allowed to comment on line. There are other services on the North Shore but they typically deal with very exaulted work. Baroque is a wonderful family owned business and I highly recommend their work.

For about the last year, my wife and I had been looking for a company that could bring the life back to an older brass table. The table is all brass, but time had taken it’s toll and had left it with pit marks and was severely discolored. Having trouble finding a company that was willing to tackle this issue, we found Baroque Silversmith on the internet and sent them an email with some pictures. Within a day, we received a response that they would be happy to take a look to see what they could do. We drove over an hour to their business and were promptly greeted by the owners, Jack and Ani Dirilen. They assured us that they would love to handle this challenge.
First part of June we received a call that the table was done and it was ready for pickup.
The results were far more than we could have ever expected. They were very excited to bring out the finished product and we were excited to see it. The work was amazing and I really think it turned out better than anyone had expected. Our sincere thanks to Jack, Ani, and their entire staff for the great work. Truly Beautiful. This silversmith shop is fantastic and brings back a seemingly lost art and we can highly recommend it.

OMG I had brought my grand mothers silver candelabra to Baroque Silver. Within four days
it was ready to be picked up. It looked better then new! They explained to me how the had fixed one of the arms and taken out the little dents. I was astonished. All I can say is they were very professional and courteousTo top it off the cost was not what I thought it would be. This repair shop is the place to go.

What a hidden gem! Old-​fashioned craftsmanship and service that is hard to come by Each project, large or small, is given the same special care and attention to detail. Over the past year, I’ve taken jewelry for minor repairs, along with three problem pieces to Jack — and I have more in the future. His versatile skills and his ingenuity never fail to overcome the most difficult challenge.
Jack restored my antique brass torchiere to its original condition by replating the metal and repairing the electrical components. A more contemporary piece, a brass faucet that matched our other bathroom accessories chewed up by our cat was polished and lacquered to like-​new condition, saving us the cost of replacing several pieces. Our latest, an outside-​the-​box custom project, literally turning a chrome faucet gold, was painstakingly completed to exceed our very high expectations.
Prices are reasonable, but credit cards are not accepted. Jack is very busy, so you won’t get a rush job from him, but the results are worth the wait. Most importantly, I would not hesitate to leave my cherished treasures with this honest gentleman. That his wife, Ani, who handles the front office is charming, warm, and caring is icing on the cake.

Wow, This is a family owned business and AMAZING!!! I had an very old broken antique silver Kiddush Cup that was my great grandfathers. I wanted my nephew and his new bride to use it during their wedding ceremony but it leaked and was a disaster. They miraculously saved the base and cast an entire new cup, silver plated it, attached it to the old base and even had an engraver reproduce the old hand cut engraving. It was more than perfect. Look no further. They are amazing. The gift was a hit. I found a stunning antique box and kept the old cup with the newly crafted one and presented it. I plan on taking a old silver pitcher that needs some work back to Baroque when I have some additional bucks. I highly, recommend Baroque. Jack and his wife are tops.
