Simply the best movers in Chicago. Whether it’s a full move or just moving a room of furniture into storage this team is the best in Chicago and the only movers I use. Efficient scheduling, on time professional crews… they are the real deal. I’ve used hem multiple times — great experiences each time. Nothing ever broken or damaged and they really go above and beyond to be helpful. Highly recommend, worth every penny!

We had a great experience with Golan Movers! First of all, our friends used them and were very happy. Second, they provided the lowest quote of the 6 companies we called. Movers arrived early, took care in loading the truck, promptly arrived at our new location, and unloaded all items with no headache or hassle. Everyone was friendly and we were very grateful! Would absolutely recommend them to others!

We moved with Golan’s in December 2015. As we were waiting for our new home to be completed, Golan’s offered us storage in their controlled and secured facility in Skokie. A week later, when our home was complete, Golan’s showed up on a Sunday and moved our «life» back in. To put this in perspective, we essentially moved 4 times. Once out of our condo, again into storage, another out of storage and finally the 4^th time into our new home. 1 broken glass. That’s IT (and — it was from my packing, no!!! We are so incredibly pleased w/​the staff, the moving crew and the process. Jose and his team, were just flat out awesome. They treated our stuff as it was theirs. They helped me set up my pool table, they put blankets around our old and new home to protect the floors. They were polite, great w/​my kids, extremely nice and reassuring to my wife and most importantly, incredibly professional.
Jonathan was awesome to work with. He coordinated everything for us and even helped us get the same crew we had moving out for moving in. It just felt good.
This is the 3^rd time I have used Golan’s and it’s been 5 star service each time. Thank you Jose, Jonathan and the Golan Team. You have no idea how appreciative we are!!!

Used Golan for my move from Chicago to Arizona. Everything went smoothly. The truck made it to Arizona in the first few days of the estimated delivery window. No damage to any of my belongings, which included a bunch of vintage furniture. Very efficient and friendly staff. They’re not cheap but the difference between using Golan and what I priced out for renting/​driving my own truck and hiring local movers for load/​unload on each end was less than $ 1500. To me, that difference was worth paying to avoid the stress of driving a big and unfamiliar moving truck.

I flew out to Skokie so I could help my brother move in to his new home :). He used Golans moving to move all his stuff from the rental. I am writing this review because these amazing guys made my job much easier than I thought. Everything was packed with so much care and attention. Fragile belongings were double packed and so easy to organize! Well done.

I had a great experience with Golan’s. My husband and I moved within Chicago, from 3^rd floor apartment to 3^rd floor condo, a total of 2 miles move. The men arrived right on time and got to work. As far as I could tell, they didn’t even take a break. The final price was under the estimate they gave me. Everything was well-​wrapped and cared for.
My only complaint, which is not really a complaint, is that I don’t think the person I made the appointment with on the phone really took me seriously when I said that we had a two-​bedroom apartment and a lot of books. The four-​man team took 8 hours. Like I said, they worked hard the whole time but I think a five-​man team would have helped. It wouldn’t have impacted my final cost, but it might have been easier on the team.

Beware of Golan’s. They are not a professional moving company that can be trusted with your furnishings and belongings. If you need some guys to throw a pile of junk into a dumpster, yes, Golan’s can handle it. If you need a professional operation that listens to you and takes care with your belongings, look elsewhere.
I hired Golan’s to move my packed belongings and furniture into a pod. I walked them around the house and gave instructions as to what needed to be wrapped, padded, etc. The main concerns I had were my bedroom set and my grandmothers dining room set.
They rushed through and very roughly handled my things. I only saw this halfway through loading as I was moving things from the garage to the front of the house. The dresser I indicated would be a tight fit through the doorway and to please pad and wrap it they simply muscled through a doorway, ripping paint off the wall and putting deep gouges in the dresser.
The dining room set had already gone out so I didn’t see its condition until unloading the pod. The 60 year old set that was in excellent condition for its age is basically ruined. They didn’t pad the china cabinet so there are deep ruts in the wood where something rubbed against it during the move.
When I contacted Golan’s about this I was basically told that since they didn’t unload it, they wouldn’t believe that their guys did the damage. I took photos of the hallway in my house I was moving out of where the dresser was scraped against the wall and doorway. I took photos of the load before any pieces were touched by myself or movers on the delivery end. Just seeing how they put things in the truck is enough to know they did not do a professional job. They tossed a toolbox in next to my wood bedroom set. So that rubbed against it for 800 miles. I mean, if I wanted a hack job like this I would have given my brothers stoner buddies some beer and pizza to destroy my stuff.
Curiously enough, none of my dishes or electronics were damaged — probably because I packed those myself.
Bottom line is DO NOT TRUST GOLAN’S with your move. There are many companies out there that will hire people who will listen and take the care you are PAYING FOR. I would say I am heartbroken, but I am far more angry. I paid money for them to rush — it took them an hour but I still had to pay for the two hour minimum — and they did a terrible job. I cannot afford to replace what they damaged. I also find it disgusting that when I contacted «customer service» I was basically told I am a liar. Who runs a business this way? I guess they are counting on people being desperate and not caring when their belongings are ruined. I totally understand when companies won’t cover damages to IKEA furniture or poorly packed things. I get it. No problem. Those are not the circumstances here and in this day and age Golan’s should do better than they did in, (1) hiring the horrible team that moved my stuff, and (2) treating customers like they did something wrong.

These guys were professional from start to finish. Quick and were careful with our glass table and other fragile. Would recommend.

Golan Movers were very friendly and professional. All of our belongings were packed properly. Fragile pieces like mirrors and glass tops were wrapped with more care. Will definitely use them again in the future. Thanks!

I recommend Golan’s completely and unequivocally. My North Shore household was moved across country on-​time, as promised and without any breakage. Service was always provided promptly and professionally.
I stored a room full of furniture at Golan’s for over 5 years and when I called late on a Saturday afternoon to have the stuff ready for pick-​up by another mover early Monday morning (a day later), Richard Hain, made the calls necessary to help me. Both Richard and the associates consistently extended themselves and went the extra mile to work on my behalf. Thank you Richard and Golan’s.

I had a small move but multiple stops all downtown. Our team was professional and personable. They took direction really well and had great suggestions. The estimate was spot on. I highly recommend Golans for your move.

They moved my daughter from Minneapolis to Brooklyn. They did a great job with the move in that everything arrived and nothing was damaged. Only issue was that it took a while for the furniture and boxes to arrive. They did arrive within the promised window, but at the very end of that window. Part of that may be that it was a very small amount of furniture/​boxes being moved so they had to wait for another move going east.
They did slightly over estimate my weight and promptly refunded the excess I paid. They were one of the most reasonable of the movers I contacted and they did the move themselves, it was not contracted out to another mover.
All in all, I would say it was a success!

The Golan Movers team did a terrific job moving my family from a downtown high rise and into our new home. They were careful with our electronics and furniture. The team packed for us and wrapped up the larger items in blankets to avoid damage.
We were impressed with how the team took care in moving our existing items into our new home while navigating stairs and freshly painted walls. I would not hesitate to use them again.

I used Golan’s for a recent long distance move, and I’m glad I did! The moving crew on both ends of the move (pick up and delivery in different states) was fantastic. Very courteous, professional, quick, and best of all — on time. No damage to any of my belongings, and everything was accounted for with no issue. The movers were extremely in sync, and moved my 100+ boxes/​items with ease. Had a great experience with their customer service representatives as well; very accommodating and thorough follow-​up.
I’d definitely recommend Golan’s, and I’ll be using them again for future moves.

So I have used Golan’s many times in the past and not one thing has gotten broken and they were courteous and fast. This last move was terrible though, and judging by the trend below, it looks like other people have experienced similar issues.
First, the movers that came didn’t even have a Golan’s truck, so I believe they were just farming it out to someone else.
Second, I was moving 2 BLOCKS with a short stop at storage — I paid $ 500 on top of the expensive Golan’s fees to have elevators locked and dedicated for the move, and they took 8 hours for a ²⁄₃ br condo!!! So essentially my local 2 block move ended up costing nearly 2000 plus the loss of the broken furniture (see below)
Third — Usually, the foreman speaks excellent English even if the rest of the crew doesn’t, but ours was very poor, and therefore I didn’t realize what insurance options he was presenting me to sign off on (I blame myself for not calling the office on that)
Fourth — I never saw 2 of the 4 guys once we arrived at my new house. There’s only so much unloading that needs to happen.
Fifth — They broke our coffee table, and like the others, put us into a ridiculous scammy claim center where you have to hound them every step of the way. And, of course b/​c I didn’t get any extra insurance, I got offered $ 50 for a $ 600 coffee table. I’m sitting here feeling really crappy about the whole experience.
So based on my last Golan’s experience, DO NOT use them!

I hired Golans for moving and storage. They told me what it was going to cost for storage and I was satisfied with the number they gave me. They let me know 3 months in that the actual cost was 4 times what they originally said! I couldn’t believe it. It cost so much I couldn’t even afford to get my stuff out of their storage. I lost all of my items. Would never recommend them to anyone. Think twice before using Golans. They are a scam.

This was the worst experience I’ve had with a business, both in moving and otherwise. I used them for a cross-​country move. They lost multiple boxes of our things that we had to replace and destroyed multiple pieces of furniture (I’m talking piles of broken wood slabs left in the middle of our new living room floor because that was all that remained of our bed and desk).
I was shocked by how rude and unprofessional they were throughout the experience. To top it off, they make the claims process purposefully arduous and costly, requiring us to get multiple costly damage appraisals for them to even consider our claim (risking spending even more money than the $ 3,000 were were already out for lost and broken items we had to replace with a high likelihood that we would get nothing back from them).
Writing this review to spare others the stressful and costly experience of using Golan’s.

This is the second time I used Golan to move. They’ve never disappoint. Professional and fast, they moved 2 apartments into one town house in less than 5 hours. Amazing. They are careful with my things and are willing to use materials I provide. I would call them again the next time I move.
Their pricing is extremely reasonable, and moving in the middle of the month was far less expensive then moving at the end of the month and they were able to let me know so I can save some money. Another money saving tip is to provide them with material they might need. Extra cardboard boxes and tape are a must.
For the record, my first move was from Des Plaines, IL to Skokie, IL my second move was 2 location Chicago and Skokie to Skokie.

We used Golan’s for a long distance move from Chicago to Texas and we would NOT recommend them.
Golan’s was very eager to get our business with a reasonable quote, but their quote was misleading and the final cost of our move ended up being approximately twice the price of their quote.
The team that packed up our house in Chicago was very nice and professional, and probably the only bright spot in our experience with them.
After our goods were picked up, Golan’s misled us again regarding storage and delivery to another state. In short, once Golan’s picked up our stuff from Chicago and put it in storage somewhere, they said I could call once I had the final date and destination exactly verified. Upon calling, they said it would be a month or more until my things would be delivered. I had to beg and plead for days until they finally scheduled the second half of my move from storage to a destination in Texas.
Upon arrival, the unloading team was OK but didn’t unpack anything and was somewhat disorganized with paperwork.
Upon finishing our unpacking, many things were broken, damaged, or missing. Now they are making it purposely difficult to file a claim for these damaged goods and they drag their feet with everything. If this is what passes for customer service, they should be out of business. I don’t know how they are for local moves, but I would strongly recommend staying away from them for a long distance move. There’s gotta be better companies out there.
