YelpNOLA’s Fall Steak-ation with Slidell LongHorn Steakhouse

Boy oh boy where do I begin! This event hosted by our hostess is indeed the best ever! I love love love steak! Basically, I’m a meat-aterian…my steak was cooked perfectly, Medium Rare!
I felt the new appetizer, mussels, were kind of bland. I think it needs something fresh or maybe a little bit of spice to it.
I love the desert! We had the lava pumpkin spice and chocolate cake! Cake was sweet but I can’t stop eating it!
I love how we had our placemats! I love our fun quizzes! It was a great way to chat with each other!
Matthew was an excellent hostess. He was personable and knowledgeable!
I wish i was able to drink more lol. I love my strawberry daiquiri! Delish! Can’t wait till our next event together!

Had a great time getting to meet other Unilocal members and was totally impressed with all of them. It helped that it was held at my favorite steakhouse and I was blown away by the amount of food that kept coming and coming and coming. You can’t beat their ribeyes — I don’t care what steakhouse you might go to – they season them to perfection. I had my leftovers the next day for lunch and my steak was just as good as it was the night before. But even better than the food was the staff who took care of us so well. It just reminded me all over again why I enjoy this restaurant so much! My favorite though, a always, was the shrimp — I could eat those every day of my life!
What’s not to love? Great company, great food!

Wow! This was my first Unilocal Elite dinner event. I felt like a queen. The manager and the rest of the staff were so nice and accommodating. The food was great, and there was just so much of it! I loved how we were able to try a little of everything. Morgan did a fantastic job and made Unilocal placemats for us! She also created a fun quiz with a funny prize. Longhorn taught us a bit about different types of steak and how they are cooked. Then there was a quiz! Ha! The prices were great. Overall, it was a great time with great people!

Events like these makes being Elite the reason why its so special. To be able to gather in small groups and make new friends over a majestic meal such as this one is a real treat in more ways than the palate. This is the second Elite event in a row where course after course of great food was served in a fantastic setting that allows us to learn more about our fellow Elites. I look forward to our Christmas even in December and hopefully (fingers crossed) to Gold Elite status in 2016 that will open up a new door for me on Unilocal.Cheers to Morgan and Long Horn Steakhouse on a fantastic event.

I had such a great time at this event! I loved the smallness of the event. It really gave me a chance to get to know my fellow Elites more, especially with Morgan’s fun game. Damn Chris W. has a lot of friends and reviews. Way to go!
I couldn’t have asked for more as far as service goes. Everyone was so professional and accommodating and enthusiastic. I liked hearing manager Matt talk about the different cuts of steak, marbling, etc. I love me some meat.
The amount of food was insane! They really took care of us!
My favorites included the mussels, wedge salad, and the Outlaw ribeye. They said that the Outlaw ribeye is one of their biggest sellers and I can see why. It was delicious and cooked perfectly.
I didn’t really care for my prime rib. It just seemed to fall flat for me. It wasn’t juicy at all and just didn’t work for me.
The desserts were delicious, with my favorite being the pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese frosting. I’m not a big sweets eater, but I loved this dessert.
Due to the huge portions, my mom and I ended up eating off of her ribeye, and I took my prime rib home to my boyfriend. He was a happy man.

As soon as we entered the doors, Longhorn provided us with a memorable night. Spacious with lots of honey wood furniture, Longhorn looked like it was trying to go for the ranch look of many steakhouses. However, the service and food sets them apart from their competition.
The friendly hostess led us to the table, chatting with us about the restaurant while we walking. When we got there, Morgan said we all had assigned seats. A laminated placemat of our Unilocal profile showed us which seats were ours. Everyone agreed that was a great idea and told Morgan how creative that was.
Then the Managing Partner/​GM introduced himself and proceeded to give us a lil history of the place and told us all we needed to know about steaks. Very informative and perfect for the steak quiz we actually had on the tables.
Now onto the «meat» of my review: the food! Our table tried three apps: the fried shrimp, corn fritters and mussels. Mussels were perfectly cooked with no fishy taste or smell. Corn fritters were this wonderful balance of sweet and salty. Loved the dipping sauce it came with. Creamy and spicy, it was the perfect complement to the fried sweet corn balls. The tiny shrimp were perfectly seasoned and came with a yummy dipping sauce.
I ordered the ribeye. Based on another Elite’s recommendation, I got it Pittsburgh style. Big mistake. Steak ended tasting and looking very burnt. Didn’t have that sealed in sear I was hoping for. But still a wonderful juicy and flavorful steak.
Definitely didn’t need the house-​made steak sauces. We tried their steak and sweet siracha sauces. I liked them but thought the steak was flavorful and didn’t need any other sauces.
For my side, I ordered the 4 cheese mac and cheese. Unfortunately, our menus didn’t tell us what the 4 cheeses were so I ended up getting a dishes smelling and tasting like blue cheese. Luckily Chris had the creamed spinach which needed some cheese, so we combined our sides and created the perfect one!
Last but not least, desserts were on point! That chocolate goodness was the perfect ending! Didn’t even taste the pumpkin molten cake which everyone else raved about. It was a night I wished I had 4 stomaches.
Bathrooms are clean. Parking lot had plenty of spaces.
So definitely another fun-​filled nights with great food, wonderful company and 5 star service. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in Slidell– especially to use my free app coupon.

Holy Cow! Literally!!! What an amazing event yet again put on by Morgan! Fun quiz activities about our fellow Elites and about Longhorn Steakhouse, super cool « Unilocal Profile Placemats,» an amazin 8!-course meal, and just a grand olé time! We started with an introduction to the restauarant GM — Matt — who was super enthusiastic and very informative. We also got some quiz explanation from Morgan before we got started. Matt came out a couple more times to talk about steaks, Longhorn steaks specifically, and the restaurant’s history.
Ok, so, the meal: Family style apps of mussels, pretzel sticks, wild west shrimp, and corn fritters. I had prime rib and broccoli for my main courses, and then family style desserts of chocolate stampede and pumpkin spice lava cake! SO MUCH FOOD!!! Oh! And a «perfect» margarita! It was a pretty darn good margarita. It might have earned its title.
I have to say my favorite app was probably the pretzel sticks. The mustard sauce and cheese sauce were perfect complements to that soft pretzel dough. My prime rib was a perfectly textbook medium rare, and seasoned simply yet perfectly. And the desserts… well I’m a sucker for desserts, and I gobbled them up. Man what a meal. And what a fun time conversing and laughing with our fellow Elites (and our CM!!), especially m’lady!
We look damn good in those cowboy hats!

Y’all already knew I was gonna be here. Hello? First ever Northshore event? Count. Me. In.
Even though it was a work day I made it a priority to come to this event. I wasn’t disappointed. First of all I got to hang with my friend Suzanne but also met some great newbie Unilocalers! (I’m looking at you Michele and Greg:))
We were treated like royalty with four appetizers. Yes. Four. Then our choice of either a salad or soup. Then the kicker… our steaks. Filet, ribeye, sirloin or prime rib? Cooked to our liking and served up sizzling. Did I mention desserts? We had that too. I was so full by that point I didn’t partake but goodness they looked yummy.
The staff here were AMAZING and I now have a new resturant to be in love with. As for you, Morgan, you already know I love you! Thank you for yet another wonderful event!

Morgan, you never fail. THANK you for an extraordinary evening with delicious service and food! Matthew the manager was so personable, and the servers were equally outstanding. I loved every. Single. Item. And SO. MUCH. STEAK! I especially appreciated Matthew teaching us about steaks, and the fun quizzes! Oh and I really loved our profile placemat!
This was my first time to Slidell, and I am so happy that this was my reason for going there!
I had a great time meeting new people; normally I stay my introverted self away from the crowd. But our table was fun and there were several interesting conversations throughout the night.
I commend this establishment and thank them for spending time with us this evening. Kudos to all! YAY!!!

Wow. A meatathon. Meatastic. A beefasborg. A protein extravaganza.
It was my first Unilocal Elite event, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. But having been to several of Morgan’s events, I knew it would be well organized and awesome. She sat me near vets, and they were so welcoming and smart and funny. I felt like I was meeting up with old friends.
The venue was great. Longhorn Steakhouse was bright, clean, and the staff was so friendly. The servers never missed a beat. One of the managing partners Matt spent lots of time talking about steaks and what makes Longhorn’s selection special.
The food. Where do I begin? (Please see first paragraph). Platter after platter of delicious, well prepared and well presented items came rolling out. I ordered the prime rib with a baked potato. Cooked perfectly and well seasoned with au jus. Desserts paraded out like sugarplum fairies. The Chocolate Stampede was a mouthgasm.
Lots of fun, laughs and some trivia (just to make sure we left a little smarter). The time went too fast.
I don’t think I have ever been to a Longhorn before, but I can guarantee that the next time I go out for steak I will choose Longhorn.

This was a phenomenal event!!!
When I got to the Unilocal area of the restaurant Morgan F. had arranged the seating by creating placemats out of a profile screenshot (showing picture, stats, etc.) of the person who was suppose to sit in that spot. I thought that was really cool.
We also got red Unilocal bibs that I will definitely put on my greyhounds so they can represent Unilocal and look snazzy at the dog park. The tables looked amazing, everything was very neat and just generally perfect. They had water waiting and asked what I wanted to drink within maybe 3 minutes of me sitting down. I was impressed.
Matt B. (the managing partner) was really great overall and did a fantastic job educating us about longhorn’s history, quality standards (i.e.: steaks are never frozen), explaining differences in steak types with regard to flavor and texture, different cooking processes, temperature differences, and how longhorn seasons their steaks. He even brought out a platter showing the different steaks to serve as visual guide to what he was talking about.
The staff were really attentive, personal, and professional. They were total rockstars.
The food was amazing and bountiful, it just kept coming and coming! They let us try several appetizers, all of which were really good.
Here is a breakdown of the app. situation:
Prior to bringing the apps out they brought out some bread and butter. In terms of apps, they had (1) sweet corn fritters which was like a hush puppy with corn (possibly my favorite), (2) mussels with optional garlicky bread (did not try these, mussels are not my thing), (3) «wild west» fried shrimp that were really addictive. They were garlicky with a the perfect little spicy kick and they were served with some kind of peppers. There was also (4) «brew pub» pretzel sticks that came with two dipping sauces, a cheese sauce and a honey mustard. I preferred the cheese sauce but had to limit myself to one stick because they were really filling.
After the appetizer sampling session, they brought out the soup /​salad course. I went with the broccoli asiago soup which was not bad, but I didn’t finish it because I was trying to save room for steak and dessert.
***Before the steak entrée course came out, Morgan F. told our table to ‘get out your passports because you are about to go on a steak-​ation’. LOL!!!
For the entrée course I chose the 18oz outlaw ribeye mid rare with a loaded baked potato. It was topped with melted butter and had the most amazing grill marks /​char on the outside. The temperature was perfect. I ordered mid rare and I like my mid rare more on the rare side than the mid side (if that makes sense) and this steak did not disappoint. It was so tender and buttery on the inside and the outside had a great smoky taste from the grill. People, this was the prefect steak.
By the time the dessert course rolled around I was pretty much feeling like I was going to need to be rolled out of there. I didn’t try the desserts but they looked fantastic. You know when you go out and see a plate that literally looks so good you don’t want to mess it up, that was how good these dessert plates looked.
There was a Longhorn quiz on all the stuff Matt B. told us about steak types, temps. etc. the winner of which got a $ 25 gift card. Actually the gift card could have been something else other than the quiz, I don’t know, there were several prizes /​giveaways. Since there was a lot going on across several tables I may be wrong but my point is they were giving away gift cards (how cool is that?).
There was also a Unilocal elite quiz that yours truly won! My Unilocal spoils included a Unilocal elite towel, some black « Unilocal life» fingerless gloves, an awesome fleur de lis belt buckle, and, get ready for it, a gun shaped egg mold so (as the package says) I could «pull the trigger on a delicious breakfast». LOL.
Shoutout to longhorn and Morgan F. for putting together such a great event, I know everyone really enjoyed the food and the great company and I also enjoyed making some new elite friends!!!
