The Amish do a lot of things well, but who knew that they make some fine, fair priced wine too?! Wine tasting just doesn’t get any more charming than at Windgate. Set in Amish country, this charming little secret cannot be missed. An hour and a half drive from Pittsburgh, and you will be set in something of a dream land. Our tasting experience was very pleasant. We tried at least 6 wines that we thought were worthy of bringing home. And ooops! We did bring them home. The prices of the wine are very reasonable. For $ 15 – 20 you can get a handcrafted, very special wine that you can’t find through just any wine vendor. Minimal damage to the pocket book and a nice souvenir to bring back home to share with friends? You can’t go wrong. I especially loved their Amish Red variety, and their flavored wines. They made great holiday-dessert accompaniments. Make a day of it– check this place out, and make room in the trunk of your car for the case you’ll bring home.
