Who is Granny?

Thelma Scott of Isle of Wight, VA was the original Granny that created her own concept of Granny’s Kitchen. Anyone in the general vicinity of Granny’s Kitchen could attest to the wonderful smells generated on the corner of Uzzell’s Church Road and Carroll’s Bridge Road. Her ingredients were right out of the ground, and grown by John «Pap» Scott Jr. Community food growers would drop off wonderful local products for her to turn into magic.

Scott was born and raised in Isle of Wight, VA. After studying Hospitality and Tourism Management at Virginia Tech, Scott moved to Fort Lauderdale to study culinary arts. Returning home, he continued to work in many of the areas best fine dining establishments.

The 8 year idea to launch Granny’s Kitchen became full circle in December of 2014. Scott continues to focus on fine food, but he is determined to offer farm products without the $ 30 price tag most often found in the areas finer establishments. He is interested in growing community awareness of locally grown awesomeness all while supporting the hard working farmers.

Scott also has a passion for wine, craft beer, and spirits. He is a firm believer in simplicity. He can create a unique food and drink menu that you simply can’t get anywhere else in town.
