WellStar Medical Group Urgent Care – Cooper Lake

I was refused treatment at this facility. I presented with debilitating pain from multi-​level degenerative disc disease. The ride over to this facility was excruciating for me as I had a disc pressing on a nerve. As I am in the Wellstar system, all of my records were readily available to verify my condition. Instead, they treated me like a criminal and embarrassed me within earshot of other patients. My primary care physician – a Wellstar doctor – sent me to this Wellstar Urgent Care to get short term relief as it would be a week or two before I could be seen by a spinal clinic. Instead, the only «treatment» Wellstar Urgent Care dispensed to me was of the rude and insensitive variety. They suggested I go to the ER… which I did and received proper relief and care. I will be filing a formal complaint with Wellstar corporate due to their unprofessionalism and the duress they caused me.

Very friendly, took a while but they said it was unusual — several emergencies happened at once. Took the time to properly test everything and explain results.

My wife is a teacher who regularly finds herself battling colds, sore throats and sometimes the dreaded strep throat which I’ve never had but it seems MISERABLE. When she wasn’t feeling very well two weeks ago we decided to try this UrgentCare location. The staff was very friendly which is always helpful especially when you’re sick. But, the BEST part of this location unlike other Wellstar urgent care centers we’ve visited, is that the wait time was almost non-​existent! I know that this is not always guaranteed to be the case but my wife said that when she visited last year it was the same way — a very quick turnaround. They took great care of her and had us on our way in no time.
My only two issues are that 1) Our usual co-​pay is $ 35 and we’ve both paid this same price on recent visits to UrgentCare but this visit we were charged $ 60 because they deemed it an «emergency visit». We were so happy to be in and out and anxious to go pick up my wife’s meds that we didn’t think much of it at the time but later on I really wondered about it. What about this trip was considered an emergency while other trips were not? Each time we did the same thing, just showed up and checked in for treatment… I’m still scratching my head as to why they felt the need to charge us almost double the price. Hmm.
2) My other issue was that they said they would follow up with my wife in a few days to provide her with some test results but they never did. They called a couple days later and left a message, when I returned the call it turns out that they were calling to conduct a survey and seemed not to know anything about my wife’s test results. Till now, weeks later, they still haven’t called.
Other than that, the office was very clean and everyone was professional and even though one hopes not to have to visit an UrgentCare in the future, if we do, we will probably be back here.

A joke!!! Waited 2 in a half hours before I was able to be seen. Very very slow service, women up front are incompetent airheads.

Went to this office two weeks ago with fatigue, sever sore throat where I was unable to swallow, and fevers at night but not during the day. I went immediately to this office right at the onset of symptoms. I waited 2 hours and 15 mins, finally get called. Nurse came back, did vitals, which were fine and swabbed my throat: 5 mins later the doctor comes in, tells me the strep test is negative and to just gargle with salt water. Didn’t look at my throat, or really check for anything else.
Another week goes by, and I wake up with an awful pain in my ear with a popping noise and puss coming out, and STILL have an awful sore throat. So I call an ENT and made an appointment. Long story short, I had tonsillitis and a double ear infection. HAD THE WELLSTAR DOCTOR CHECKED MY EARS AND THROAT he would have caught this. Totally pissed off that I wasted time and money at this Wellstar. I will never go back nor recommend anyone to Wellstar urgent cares.

Located in Smyrna, this urgent care facility is modern, clean, and well equipped. I came for a suspected fracture, and they were able to see me and get me an x-​ray quickly.
The staff is friendly and courteous. The doctors have all been knowledgeable and obviously enjoy practicing medicine.
This is a great alternative to a hospital emergency room!

Ear infection brought me here. Already experiencing enough pain, I wanted my visit to be painless. Indeed it was and yours can be too if you heed my advice.
Tip:
1. Go to their website and complete the new patient registration forms before arriving.
2. Arrive at least 30 mins before they open.
3. Get out your car and wait outside the office door 15 mins before staff opens office so you’re first on the doc’s list.
The front desk staff was pleasant, nurse called me back within 5 mins, doc followed about 2 mins later to assess the problem, typed script in hand 5 mins later, and out the door within 25 mins from start to finish.
Exactly the type of urgent care I need. I’d definitely go back here again, but I don’t want to see them anytime soon.

Unfortunately I had to go… but its nice to know they are there when you need em and I did. This is my second visit there within 5 months, the first time was for my Mother who was visiting and had a bout with asthma as she’s allergic to my dog somewhat.
The front desk staff were very friendly and accomodating. We were seen on our first visit within 10 mins or so, whisked off to the back, where the nursing staff were equally as friendly. In my Mothers case though I do believe the Doc at that time, however nice went a bit overboard with recommendations. So we opted for the breathing treatment for my Mom only.
FYI… and being serious, you «can» refuse certain treatment options and some folks just go with whatever the doctor says, I don’t. Ask questions, and get an understanding of your complete situation is always best.
On this visit a couple days ago, again I was greeted promptly but then I was the first patient of the day… LOL, and there was a gentleman behind me. The front desk staff were full of morning cheer and smiles which always makes one feel a bit better when you’re uncomfortable and in pain. I have horrible sinus issues and this time trying to treat it myself got me into a snafu…
I sat for 5 mins and was back with Dr. Duska Dyer within the next 5 mins. The nurse who came in first was extremely knowledgable and engaging, the Dr was extraordinary, the lab tech was super nice and I was feeling comfortable with every aspect of my visit. The doctor complimented me for asking questions and having concerns, which one should. I was diagnosed, giving one sample and 2 prescriptions and on my way off to work right after that… probably should have stayed home but I am money conscious!

I do recommend coming here when needed, and I hope I don’t have to go anytime again soon or at all if I can help it but when I need them, I am comforted to know they are there

We were there for a total of two hours on a Sunday after a minor accident at home. Everyone was super friendly and professional. The nurse was great and made us feel comfortable and Dr. Dyer was amazing! I wish she could be our GP!

The nurses and physicians are very nice with great bedside manners but be prepared to wait. We’ve never been there with less than an hour wait.
