Beautiful place but no dogs allowed? Stupid. Place never gets used as a result. Serious waste of community resources and tax dollars as a result. I would like to see this decision challenged. What exactly are we preserving here? This is not a waterfowl nesting spot.

This beautiful preserve is named for my cousin. He is a dear man who has spent his life stocking the area lakes, rivers and streams with 10’s of 1000’s of fish every year. It is an easy walk and you will see a great number of birds. I agree it is more for adults than kids(no playground) but, they still might enjoy the walk and the water.

Great fishing spots. there is one main trail. then trails to the two lakes(shadow and no name). when you get to the end of the at the y. go right for mud and sticker bush fishing. Go left follow the trail. depending on the height of the river there are many fishing areas to clime down to. there is a big sandy opening no climbing. then if you hike further down) the trail become less apparent over grown) but at the end you will find a big rocky area and sandy areas. depending on the river. Most kids wont care for the walk in. but for fishing it gets you some what away from people. OH and NODOGSALLOWED!!! I have two and wish I could take them but it is a wild life preserve not a dog park.

Went there for a quick hike and photo shot. The day was overcast and went mid day so chances for a good photos were average. The Park has one trail and its suppose to end up at a gravel area by the River. For a small hike and maybe some wildlife shots it would be OK. If you like to fish not sure if its the best place but according to the website its suppose to be good for Steelhead. I will have to go back on a sunny day and report. Not for a young kids unless you are fishing otherwise they may be bored.
