I will never go back, and will tell my friends to go elsewhere. I had a ¼ beef brought to them to cut. They had given me hamburger @ 16% fat on it, I had asked for 12% that’s absurd. The service wasn’t good, rude. I tried some of there meats not good tasting or tender

They butchered a half beef for me. They could not follow simple directions. Other than that, the cuts do not look like they were professionally done. They put two steaks in each package, they are very unequal in size. There is a lot of blood loss when thawing, no matter how I thaw it(this is because of the way they freeze it), and the meat turns brown. Will never be back.

I love their meat, especially the hamburger. I have given them at least 3 more regular customers by sharing my meat stash with them. I usually got my meat at costco or haagen but kelsos is way better. I have not purchased meat anywhere but there since I started.

I went to Kelso’s because I received a gift card. I was excited to shop at a different meat shop. I purchased a couple beef tenderloins, a couple chuck roasts and some hamburger. I cooked one of the chuck roasts in the pressure cooker to have one of our favorite dishes. It was very grissly, not at all what we are used to. The beef tenderloins we purchased looked more like sirloins. The worst sirloins we have ever had. They were tough and hard to chew. I’m not even going to try the hamburger. Needless to say I won’t be back. I will continue to go to DD Meats in Mountlake Terrace. I noticed that some reviewers have not been to any other butcher shop. I recommend you take the drive to DD Meats. You will not regret it!

I wish being a Snohomish resident, that we had a high quality meat shop in town, but unfortunately Kelso’s just doesn’t fit the bill. When I purchase beef I wish to know where it came from, and if it’s 100% grass fed. Same with pork, and I want to know if my chicken is free range. When I buy sausages I wish to know the ingredients, primarily is there sugar? These are questions Kelso can’t answer, I was told to just assume all the sausage had sugar. Hmmm. A larger amount of consumers care about the quality, ingredients, and raising of their meat more today than ever, I wish Kelso’s would get with the times and be able to provide potential customers with this information. For now I’ll continue to drive elsewhere to meat shops that can answer my questions.

I use this butcher shop for my locally purchased — naturally raised beef and pork. They are a small shop and do a great job with the resources they have. They keep records and can look up my last order and give me the cuts from previous. I haven’t actually been to another butcher shop so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but we’ve been pleased with their service.

Kind of hard to find but well worth the trip. This little shop is a carnivore’s paradise. Their brats are awesome. You can taste the craftsmanship in the casing. If you ever dream of sausage this is your destination. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

I discovered Kelso’s last summer and have grown to love it. I find it more expensive that other places yet that’s generally the case when you buy from a small local business. They staff has also been extremely nice and their cheddar jalapeño brats are to die for!

The steaks I have gotten from here have been amazing! Sometimes I get whats in their case, sometimes I ask them for some thicker cuts; they are always very friendly and very willing to cut my requests. I picked up some burger ground with bacon last week when I was in there and am excited to try it. The lady I usually talk to is very friendly, great customer service! I hardly buy meat, definitely not steaks, at the grocery store since I discovered Kelso’s…once you try this place I am sure you will do the same. HIGHLY recommended!

I wouldn’t give Kelso Meats any stars at all. As soon as they walked me outside to the loading dock, they wheeled out the cart with my ¼ side of beef and shut the door and left me alone to load it myself. It felt crooked from that moment on. After getting my meat home, I realized it was under the weight I paid for. I was told I would have Ribeyes with bone-in, instead, I got Rib steaks that look like a Top Round slab. Tons of ground beef, and odd cuts of beef, including Short Ribs that were mostly slabs of fat. I got ripped off. I paid way too much for way too little. To top it off, the cattle rancher who hooked me up with it was a friend of mine. Or so, I thought.

I have used Kelso’s twice to butcher steer, pig and lamb. I buy whole animals from a local farm and fill my freezers. I will not return. This place is a bit of a circus. I had to track down my meat, I had to prompt cutting instructions. When I picked up they forgot a box(for me a round trip is two hours). We gave them very specific instructions to cut leg bones into two inch segments, instead we got whole sections with hide and hair still on them. We also wanted(and paid for) the hooves, great gelatin in those for stock making, they came COVERED in pasture mud and manure. They left the toenails on. It was such an unprofessional disgusting mess we had to throw it out. Let me reiterate: They didn’t wash the poop off. Either these people are completely inexperienced or wholly incompetent. Either way I will never give them another dime.

Customer service was great! Had a young man help and he was very efficient and cheerful. I ordered the peppered bacon and that was delicious. I really enjoyed it and it did not shrink excessively in the cooking process. I went on a Saturday, so they were out of just about everything. I did get a nice sized T-Bone and 2 petite sirloins that I BBQ’d a couple days later. They were tasty and reasonably priced. I would definitely return

I admit, I’ve never been to a true butcher shop! Now that I am working in the Snohomish area, which is a wonderful farming community, I went to Kelsos to purchase some meat. It was wonderful! I bought hamburger as well as some spicy Italian sausage. The sausage was amazing. I’m going back to buy more this week. SO good! Must keep some of that in the freezer!!! The hamburger was lean & great. I probably won’t buy these things in the grocery store again. I need to try other meats now that I’ve tried those two & we were so satisfied with the quality. I will happily pay a bit more for quality & healthier meats. Very friendly service from both the woman working there & the young man who rang me up.

I collect my meat from there from a local producer and they cut their meat, wrap it and freeze it extremely professionally and they have no problems carrying out special requests. Friendly people and great service! I like them alot!

Have been there twice, hoping that they would be a regular spot. Both times left disappointed. First, the meat I purchased was old and tasted horribly. Second, I arrived about 30 min before closing. The guy at the counter was discussing a «hot brunette with big tits» when I walked in with another customer. After waiting for 10 minutes while listening to an inappropriate conversation, finally was helped only to find out that they didn’t have what they had on their website. No apology, no suggestion for something else. Just, it’s now time to close so get out. I will never return.

We had our pigs butchered here a few months back after having not such a good experience with another butcher. These guys were professional, caring and did a superb job with the cuts. Our customers, who picked up their pork there, also gave us very good feedback. I was just needing to call them to have them come do a couple more pigs for us and realized I had not written a review. Shame on me. Then I see someone give them a one star for not being organic. Seriously? No where, anywhere do they label their facility as organic as each producer(me) feeds our animals differently. It is a shame for them to give such a poor review based on nothing they did. Try a couple simple steaks or bacon. Once you do, you will never want to go back to grocery store meat again. Thank you Kelsos.

We have been going back to Kelso’s off and on for various meat needs. Yesterday, we had guests and went to Kelso’s to get some meat to grill. The really friendly guy directed us towards the rib steak, cut us two 1-inch slices and gave directions to not overcook. Once we got the meat home, sprinkled it with the McCormick’s Montréal Steak seasoning(my go-to for meats), and then grilled it to medium/medium-rare. It was sooooo tender and flavorful and juicy, my mouth is watering as I’m typing this. The folks at Kelso’s are always very friendly, they’ve never steered us wrong, no pun intended.
