Evidently the ownership of this place are billionaires, because it is apparent they have no interest in running a restaurant. I have heard great things about this spot, and wanted them to cater a small event of 50 people for us. However no one seems to ever pick up the phone or respond to any type of communication. C’est la vie

So sad… :( They stopped selling gelato! This place was one of my favorites in North County.

BOTH a terrible experience AND terrible food. When I walked in, the employees were nowhere to be found. I rang the bell and said«hello» multiple times. I could hear people in the back, but they never came out. I even knocked on the door leading to the kitchen, and nobody came. Right when I was about to give up and leave, a woman emerged to very unenthusiastically take my order. I ordered a tuna wrap and coffee. I waited over 10 minutes for her to make it. There is no reason it should take that long. Especially since she had her co-worker serve the coffee. I ordered the food to go, and when I went to take the wrap out of the box I noticed a foul odor. I took a bite and it was clear that the tuna had gone bad. I had to spit it out. What a waste of time and money. And to top it off, very unfriendly/lifeless employees. Avoid this place at all costs!

Its OK. The Breakfast Burritos are amazing. The coffee is good. Lunch menu is bla. Pizza seems reheated but its OK. The pulled pork lunch sand which is OK. The bun seemed stale and had been nuked to warm it. If you want breakfast and coffee its a must otherwise its a hit or miss.

First time last time. When I order a salad, i expect a little more than lettuce, dressing and a few slivers of tomatoes. Their pizza, i think its frozen nuked slices… if it wasnt, it tasted like it.

I don’t live in the Solana Beach area but find myself up here about twice a month. I alwYs plan it so I can have a meal here. Hole in the strip mall wall with excellent sandwiches, gelato, and people. Love it!!! Highly recommend!

While at Solana Beach, I Unilocaled«Gelato» and stumbled upon this place. This place was interesting because they served breakfast, panini, pasta, pizza, cannoli, cookies, cakes, coffee, etc. Let’s get to the details: Pros: –Fast service(Frank was the one that helped me) –Gelato was excellent(didn’t taste too artificial) –Italian soda is made from cane sugar Conclusion: I would come here again if I am craving gelato, or something sweet.

Very cute inside… Had been wanting to try this place for a while bc I LOVE gelato… Sooo disappointing :-(. My friend, my husband, and I all got different kinds of gelato and all of us agreed it was horrible. Tasted like freezer burn :-(. Wanted to like it!!!

Was waiting at the Solana Beach Station. I was about to get fro-yo, but instead stumbled on this place. They had a lot of paninis, pastas, gelatos, and interesting drinks. I got the Salmon Lox Bagel, though. Salmon Lox Bagel: capers, smoked salmon, tomatoes, red onions, plain bagel. Pretty standard lox bagel, but the addition of capers made it really good. Plus, I love onions. It was a good, satisfactory and filling snack/lunch, so I was happy. I’m pretty sure some of the other stuff was good too. If I hadn’t had a bit of food beforehand, I might’ve tried their gelato. The sign said the gelato was homemade, and you were allowed two samples. Only complaint I have is that when I asked if they had other bagels, the lady told me that they had already started it and that next time, I should tell them earlier… even though I told her while I was still ordering. I hadn’t even paid yet. No worries though, the plain bagel was still good. They had the 8-grain bagel option, which I would have opted for, but oh well. May or may not come back to try some more. We’ll see how big my gelato cravings are.

I work near one the best gelato café’s in North County — and it just so happens that they serve a mean breakfast burrito, a tasty breakfast panini, and offer a full compliment of lunch items to keep me coming back! Caffe La Bocca is a small place with massive charm. I regularly enjoy breakfasts here, and love sipping on my shot of espresso while waiting for my order. The food is always fresh and flavorful — I can’t remember a time when I didn’t enjoy what I ordered. Seating is limited inside, but they do offer a handful of bistro style tables on the sidewalk outside. When you visit them, make sure to check the board outside the front door for the daily specials. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with the Salumi panini. delicious.

I stopped in for dessert after my lunch one warm day. Not the best gelato ever, not the worst. Less creamy, more icy than I am used to from gelato. I’d definitely get it again. There was a good variety of flavors that I’d want to try out. I also tried the meringues — delicious! Light, airy, crisp, melts in your mouth. These meringues taste kinda like a much bigger, better and classier version of the marshmallows in Lucky Charms cereal, and that, to me, is a GOOD thing. They don’t make the meringues there, but whatever bakery they get them from delivers them fresh.

A cute little Italian café with good food and gelati. The paninis, baguettes, and salads here are very good and this is what keeps me coming back. I love their breakfast panini, it is the perfect size at ½ a regular panini with egg, bacon(or ham), and cheese in a wheat sourdough sandwich. I am a bit of a coffee snob and do not really like their coffee, when I have ordered coffee it has come without any crema and was a little bland. Its not horrible by any means though. A great little lunch spot worth trying.

I had no intention of coming here except that I had a train to catch in 20 minutes across the street and was super hungry, so I walked over here because it is not Subway. The place itself is pretty cute! It is small and is next to all kinds of nail salons and stuff, which I do not prefer but it wasn’t bad. The décor is nice and the people who work there are friendly. The people in the back are hella good looking, too ;) The food is decent! I got the pesto al pollo and it was really good! It was fresh and the vegetables were crisp and had this delicious dressing on them. It was also a pretty good size. The prices seem a little high, but maybe just because it’s Solana so people will pay. I however, cannot afford to go to such places very frequently. So three stars for good food, kinda meh location, and a feeling that I won’t come back unless I am once again stuck waiting for a train(but then again, I’d probably go to Pizza Port instead).

Tried this place for lunch and it was yummy… nothing I ate I would rush back to eat again, but then again, I work nearby so for a tasty lunch I might consider another visit. The pollo al pesto was good… and I had to try gelato so I ordered a small mango-peach. It took a little bit longer to be served… they need someone(or two) people up front to be taking and filling orders. It felt like the wait was a bit long… but the food was worth it.

Judging purely for the drinks menu — Bad coffee. Bad espresso. Maybe its the barista. Tastes like cheap hotel coffee. The gelato looks great too bad I can’t eat it =/
Walked in after Subway lunch next door yesterday. What a surprise it was a lol Italian bakery. I tasted the nutella-esque gelato & also the canneloni flavor. Both great but I ordered a small canneloni gelato. It was creamy and delicious. We sat outside an ate and it was so pleasant.

Had an entertainment book coupon a few weeks ago and stopped by to check it out after leaving the Del Mar Fair. It is very small and only has a few tables to sit, but it wasn’t full when we arrived. It has a quaint, mellow atmosphere to it. Katie had a pizza, and I had the pesto chicken sandwich. My sandwich was tasty(love me some pesto). The pizza was a little on the«too crunchy» side, still tasted good. The person helping us out was very nice and went out of his way to explain the menu to us. While I am not normally in this area, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back for a quick bite.

When you’re in the mood to relax in a café instead of a grab-n-go, Café La Bocca is a place to do that. The morning I dropped by, I ordered a mocha and breakfast burrito for breakfast. While a barista made my burrito, I sat down in one of their chairs. The arm chair was very cushy and counterproductive to the whole waking-up thing. Since there’s limited seating, there weren’t too many people around. The mocha was decent but the burrito was subpar. Maybe it’s unfair to compare a coffeehouse burrito to the taco shop variety because they’re usually gigantic, but that’s what I’m used to. In comparison to other coffeehouse b’fast burritos, it was about standard size. The bacon tasted like Ready to Eat fully cooked bacon. The tortilla wasn’t warmed or grilled. Based on previous reviews perhaps I chose the wrong thing. Sandwiches seem to be the thing here.

I really want to like this place because it’s cute and homey, but I dropped $ 10 and was still hungry. Had a sandwich(~$ 7) which was delicious HEL-LOMAYO but didn’t fill me up a all. Then had a small gelato — my gelato, rather than being creamy was icey and reminded me of ice cream — that got tossed. I loved their sandwich, but honestly, was still very hungry afterwards. At Subway next door, it doesn’t taste as good but at least I will be full and not staring at the donuts in the donut shop next door. If they increased their sandwiches to 1⁄3 larger, I’d up it a star, but right now I think this place is reserved for people who are trying to shrink their stomach or thin women who do yoga — I don’t see people with normal American appetites getting full here.
