Dr. Stacy Godes Holistic Dentistry

I just went to have a cleaning today, and I have to say, I liked it better when the practice was run by Dr. Blum. Cleaning was the same, but they used to give me a bag full of goodies (new toothbrush, big toothpaste, toothpicks and many other samples). Now under the direction of Dr. Godes they gave me nothing. I hate those cleanings, and basically now I have no incentive to go :(

Seeking treatment from Dr. Godes has altered the course of my health (and my life!) — she is incredible. I am so grateful. If you are even contemplating seeing a new dentist because you aren’t getting the outcomes you want for your health, stop wasting your time — Dr. Godes is someone you should see.
4 years ago a two-​surface filling with a dentist in Del Mar (since retired) went wrong and ended up requiring a root canal and crown. The crown was oversize and misfitting, food would constantly get stuck under it, irritate the gum and despite constant brushing, flossing and rinsing, I always had bad breath — I was often worried about it and it was concerning to be close to people despite chewing gum or mints. I also felt like I could never hydrate well enough despite drinking loads of water. I have also had stomach pains, shortness of breath, feelings of food stuck in my throat and lots of mucus build up, and hip pain over that time too — I never would have thought all these things were related. The tooth behind the bad root canal and crown was starting to decay also, likely from the food and plaque constantly building up and it too needed treatment. Other dentists I tried were recommending to get a crown lengthening (cutting away bone so that the gum tissue was thicker) and also to get a root canal on the tooth behind it. Given my experience with the dodgy root canal and crown that did not feel like an option I was going to be happy with. For 4 years I put off doing anything… I felt helpless, frustrated to the point of tears…
One day my wife, a yoga teacher came home and told me how she heard about Dr. Godes through a couple of her students — they were raving about her and said she had changed their life. My wife recommended I make an appointment. Very glad I did.
At my first appointment with Dr. Godes, we had an extensive conversation about my dental and health history. She encouraged me to go off and do some more research on root canals, recommending to watch ‘Hal Huggins explains root canals’ on YouTube. While Dr. Huggins is an interesting character to watch, there was a lot of eye-​opening stuff in that video that draws on Mayo clinic and Westin Price research. Afterwards I was clear that not only did I NOT want a root canal on the second bad tooth, but that I wanted the dodgy root canal and crown tooth extracted.
About 1 month ago I had the root canal tooth extracted. The smell of infected, diseased flesh was palpable as she removed the crown, then removed the tooth and finally needed to remove part of the ligament and bone that had also become infected. Dr. Godes did ozone treatment and put several stitches in. She then put in a filling on the tooth behind the one just extracted. Dr. Godes and her assistant Jonathan were a well-​oiled machine. They had my care at front of mind and checked in with me all along the way. Impeccable chair-​side manner.
I had the procedure on a Friday. Dr. Godes called me later that night to see how I was doing and then again the next day — her weekend, she took time out from her husband and kids to check on a patient. That was pretty special. It was helpful too because I did have some questions, but all was going well.
Since the surgery, the extraction site has healed up great on top though I know there is still much healing to be done under the surface. I am now no longer having shortness of breath. The feeling of food stuck in my throat has completely gone (I had booked in with an ear-​nose and throat clinic to have a procedure to see what is going on — I can now cancel that!!!), I don’t feel a mucus build up (apparently my sinus was inflamed from the infection above the tooth and causing mucus build up). The stomach pains I had have also all gone. I also feel like I am actually getting hydrated when I drink water now. My hip pain has not subsided — I think that might be a genetic issue though. The funny thing is that I burned myself 3 times on my arm and hand in the 2 weeks after the surgery — I believe because the energy wasn’t being blocked up in that side of my body anymore — I had a slight increase in mobility and strength in my left side that I now need to get used to! :-D Dr. Godes showed me a meridien chart and explained how each tooth affects different regions and organs in the body. Sure enough, the places where I have being having issues were associated with the problem tooth.
I am so glad to be moving on with my life, and thankful to have found Dr.Godes. I told her that I wanted to write a review for her but that I was concerned that if people found out how good she was I would not be able to get in to see her in future because she’d be booked out. I can’t not write a review about this incredible doctor though.

Dr. Godes is great! I’ve had some bad experiences with dentists since I was a kid so I tend to put off dental visits as much as possible. I also have TMJ so having my mouth open for dental procedures is pretty painful for me. Pair those two variables and you end up with someone who is extremely aversive to going to the dentist. Dr. Godes is the first dentist who has made me feel comfortable. She is an incredibly kind human being and you can tell that she knows her stuff. I feel very confident in her care. Her office staff and assistants are so incredibly nice and understanding as well. I am so glad I found her. I’ll never go to another dentist!

Best dentist I’ve had! She spent time explaining my options, helped me pick the best one and it was the most painless experience I have ever had!

My husband and I both cannot imagine going to another dentist than Dr. Stacy Godes. She is truly extraordinary. We live in the Bay Area, and though there are a plethora of medical professionals (including holistic professionals) in the SF Bay, we are so happy with the experiences that we have had with Dr. Godes that we cannot imagine going to someone else.
It goes without saying that she is a fantastic dentist. Couple that with her holistic knowledge, integrity, and intuition (how often do you compliment a dentist’s intuition??) and it’s obvious what a true gem she is.
Not only have we experienced the standard dental appointments (cleaning, Xrays, etc), but I have had her remove and replace my amalgam fillings and some old crowns. I also had her extract a root canal. I felt significantly better RIGHT AWAY after each of these procedures and I 100% believe that Dr. Godes is so skilled that they could not have gone better with anyone else.
You could not be in better, safer, more knowledgeable, or more competent hands. She is very knowledgeable about diet/​nutrition and other aspects of health as well – a truly holistic doctor.

Are you are seeking a truly holistic dentist for you and your family? This selection is as important or more essential than choosing the right physician. In my experience, oral health is actually paramount from a preventative standpoint because of the implications on your future health for the entire body.
I want to open by saying when I select a health partner I research an individual’s qualifications and results before proceeding. Dr. Godes is a progressive minded dentist whose qualifications will exceed your expectations. She has been trained in numerous modalities which include ozone therapy, cavitation treatment, mercury removal and she continually seeks advanced training to ensure the patient’s optimal overall health. Understanding the interrelationship between dental health and immunology, she has made it her mission to provide the right conditions so the body will heal.
If you are pursuing an extraordinarily skilled and gentle biological dentist, look no further. Dr. Godes is truly a holistic dentist with exceptional skill and insight. Her extensive knowledge and expertise has immeasurably helped my husband and I. Most importantly, she delivers results. We are beyond thankful to have such a wonderful, proven dentist in San Diego!!!

We love Dr. Godes, Jonathan, and the staff here! Dr. Godes is such a calm, dedicated, knowledgable and thoughtful dentist. She goes above and beyond for my four kids and self consistently. We love that she’s a holistic dentist and has a strong grasp of holistic dentistry and diet/​lifestyle. She’s always been great at imparting healthy and practical wisdom of how to help our son who has needed much off-​the-​beaten-​path help. We’ve been with her since 2012 and are very pleased.

I can’t recommend Dr. Godes highly enough. She’s one of the few in the dental profession who truly listen to you and do an excellent job. Her attentiveness and skill are rare, and even if I moved far up the coast, I’d certainly commute down to her office.
