I had to have my 2006-​07 franchise tax board redone because they were trying to charge me over $ 16,000. Leslie went ahead and redid my returns contacted all tax agencies and got my tax done to $ 600.00
Fantastic job done highly recommend her.

Leslie did our taxes in 2012 and gave us some incorrect tax advice regarding rental property. We were purchasing a new home at the time and were considering keeping our condo as a rental property. The advice she gave us, that we would have to pay taxes on capital gains upon sale of a rental property, helped us to decide to sell our condo, and we lost about $ 100k on the sale. I found out years later that the tax law states that if the property was your legal residence for at least 2 of the past 5 years, there is an exemption for capital gains. Our condo went back up in value a year after we sold it. If it weren’t for Ms. Martin’s incompetence, it is likely we would be $ 100,000 richer today. As a side note, she insisted on two separate meetings at her home, which was totally inconvenient. Stay away from Leslie Martin! Horrible.

WORST. PERSON. EVER!!! I chose Leslie after reading good reviews on Unilocal,but I’ve NEVER had a WORSE experience as a consumer, ANYWHERE… EVER!
This woman made gross and negligent errors, that ultimately could have cost us thousands of dollars in owed taxes, and to add insult to injury, actually personally attacked and insulted me in front of my husband. I. Cannot. Believe it! The level of unprofessionalism and audacity of this woman is just beyond my comprehension. There are not enough negative adjectives in the world to describe her.
We paid her $ 300 and thought that was her fee for tax preparation, but when it came time to file, she had additional charges that we were shocked to find out about, that would need to be paid before she would file our taxes — basically holding us hostage as we approached the midnight hour for filing. In reviewing her receipt for those initial charges, it did state it was for a consultation rather than tax preparation, so I guess she can fall back on that to cover her self. Had we known our conversation was not part of our tax preparation process, we certainly would not have had such a lengthy and leisurely conversation with her.
Once I expressed concern over her fees and the overall amount due the Feds (we didn’t think we received all the deductions we were entitled to based on amount owed), she became very arrogant, stating that we pay her for her professionalism, knowledge, and thoroughness, and that that should «count for something.» An hour or so later, I received an email from her stating it was a good thing I had emailed her because it caused her to go back and find a document which had been «misfiled» and resulted in us owing about $ 2,500 less than originally thought! While we were happy to find this out, it certainly did NOT substantiate her claims about being a «thorough» and professional person (she blamed her clerk for stapling it to the wrong papers), nor did it cause us to feel peace of mind that any other errors or omissions did not occur.
The next day, we met with her to sign our return, and I was obviously a bit skeptical. I remained quiet much of the time, until we reviewed the return she had prepared, and was shocked yet again (not really) to find that she had missed over $ 3,000 in deductions for our second business. (Please note that earlier in our meeting, she had asked me if I photographed brides, and I stated, «No, I can be a bit of a „zilla“ so I wouldn’t want to deal with a Bride-​zilla.») When considering whether or not to pay her MORE fees for adding things she missed in the first place (which she tried to blame me for not providing), and trying to figure what the savings would be and if it would be worth it or not on a few hours of a deadline, my husband and I bickered for a brief moment. She said loudly and confidently — I UNDERSTAND THE ZILLA COMMENT — right in front of my husband, right in front of ME, while we were trying to figure out what to do about the 2^nd huge mistake she’d made. In the end, I’d rather lose the additional deductions than spend one more second in the presence of such a tacky and classless woman or give her one more cent of our hard earned money. The fact that she would even think to charge us anything after the horrible oversight and personal attacks just shows her absolute lack of customer service.
Never in my life, have I had a PROFESSIONAL person make such an unprofessional and insulting comment to me in front of my own husband, or otherwise. We all deal with challenging people in our daily lives, and the thing to do was certainly not compound the problem by insulting me while trying to sort out a problem that she created by not including these documents when I brought them in with me to our first appointment.
My husband went outside for a moment and I told her that I couldn’t believe she spoke to me that way. No apology. She just held her ground while looking me straight in the eye — mad dog style — simply shrugging and stating that there was a lot of hostility in the room — I stated that the professional way to handle it would certainly not be to insult her client. She shrugged again.
Bottom line — Leslie is a shark. She may know her tax laws, but if she’s not using them to your benefit, then who cares? She sticks you with fees you are forced to pay at the last minute, asks you to appreciate her professionalism and thoroughness, and then is neither professional nor thorough — omits paperwork worth thousands dollars — only double checking her work once I was concerned about her fees — and them blaming her clerk for it being missed in the first place. Never apologizing for anything, ever.
This lady is just about as rude, cocky, condescending, unprofessional, insulting and horrid a person as I have ever met. If you know what’s good for you, find yourself another CPA who won’t call you awful names and cost you thousands of dollars by not being thorough. Now off to report her to the BBB and more…
