Totally agree with Valerie M’s review. Dr. Franklin was completely uncaring, condescending and unprofessional. She never directly addressed our child during appointments and basically told us the reason he was having problems was because he was«fat». A really nice experience for a kid that has enough self-esteem issues because of his climbing weight. Keep in mind we went to her because his once normal weight skyrocketed with no change in diet or exercise. He is very healthy and is not a junk food eater.(In fact, just about everything in our house is organic). We luckily moved on to another doctor who found out that he had some pretty serious problems with his thyroid, among other issues that are apparently hereditary-not from being«fat». We were speechless that she was unable to diagnose these which were all discovered with a few simple blood tests –which Dr. Franklin didn’t bother to do. Save your time, money and heartache and head elsewhere for your healthcare.

As a military family we rely on Unilocal and other websites reviews for services in new areas. I expected Dr. Franklin to be compassionate and caring. She was confrontational, insensitive, and reckless. She never acknowledged my 8 year old son was in the room. She refused to even open his record from east coast ped endo. She was condescending toward my concerns. She blamed genetics and stated it was obvious my son was an academic and not an athlete. She said the only size complex he would have(in the less than 2 percentile for size) is the one I was giving him by dragging him into doctors offices. She disregarded 3 years of tests and plans from our ped endo on east coast. He and I both cried all the way home. He heard everything she said. He said she was a bully just like the kids at school who tease him. HORRIFYINGEXPERIENCE ***please scroll to bottom of review page for«not recommended reviews» for a more comprehensive idea of this physicians behavior.

Dr Franklin has been treating my kids for years. She is extremely thorough and has helped them both tremendously. In my opinion she is one of the best Endocrinologists and we trust her completely. She doesn’t miss a thing and is so great with my kids that they love coming to see her(and her medical dog helper!!!). Her staff is excellent and so easy to deal with. She has given us great suggestions on how to deal with our insurance. We highly recommend her.

After moving back from Va to CA the first thing I took care of was finding and requesting a new specialist for my 2 yr old. Prior to moving back I was aware that Balboa hospital’s pediatric endocrinologist was booked so I was hoping that my insurance would approve a civilian doctor to handle my daughters needs. We were referred out to Dr. Franklin and thus far have had our second appointment. While I felt a little stressed(personally) on my first visit — the doctor did her best to understand my toddlers history while also going over confusing and limited information from the military treatment facilities paperwork. I felt a Unilocal was warranted now that I have visited the office twice. Dr. Franklin does things a little different than the MTF’s as far as labs and quite honestly– I like her system better. My toddler used to get labs done the same day as her appointment. I used to wait months for results to be given to me in person. Dr. Franklin on the other hand like things done 2-weeks before your next appointment. That there is more realistic and knowing that the most current results vs something many months ago. Dr. Franklin, in my humble opinion, is very thorough and to the point, she does no beat around the bush, she talks in a manner that you understand and don’t leave her office still questioning results or what is needed on your end. Dr. Franklin and her staff have always been very welcoming making my often shy toddler ease up and warm up. Could have asked for a better doctor on the west coast for my daughter.
