After being in Mexico on a surf trip and then Mammoth camping my car was a disaster The guys at Shine detailing made my car look better than when I bought it brand new :)

Owner Cody did a fabulous job on my 10 year old car. I have dogs and I take them to the beach. Not a strand of hair or grain of sand left after he finished. Also, someone had keyed my hood and I didn’t expect Cody to get that mark out but he did. Not a trace left. I highly recommend Shine. My car looks new.

What a fantastic choice. Cody was so very nice and so meticulous. I felt bad about all the dog hair but he just did a fantastic job. Bringing the other car next week!

Based on the reviews below, perhaps I caught this place on a bad day, but I was completely underwhelmed with the detail job I received here.
My main concern was getting an interior detail – I have cloth seats and they needed to be shampooed, BAD. However, he insisted that I get an exterior detail as well. It was extra money, but I figured whatever, why not – still stressing that my main concern was with the interior.
He had my car for over 3 hours and while the outside looked great, that wasn’t even my main purpose for getting this service. When I looked inside, the carpets and seats had been shampooed and taken care of, but other interior elements were absolutely not up to par. There was dust in crevices that could have easily been removed with a q-​tip or another detail-​oriented item. There was gunk in my cup holder, which he claimed to have been unable to remove with anything he had available. I got home and took care of it with some Goo-​Gone in under 3 minutes.
I know my criteria for interior detail seems to be pretty anal, but to me, the main point of a detail – and paying someone that much money – is for them to pay attention to the details of the vehicle, rather than just doing a simple wash, which is what it felt like I received minus the fact that they shampooed. At the end of the day, I judge a detail job by this: if I see the work and feel as though I could have done a better job myself, I’m not impressed.
The guy was incredibly nice and I still tipped him like $ 25 bucks (I believe in good tipping karma), but at the end of the day, the actual work just wasn’t quite up to par for me.

Best, most affordable car wash AND detail I’ve EVER gotten! I usually go to two spots in La Jolla, which are over-​priced, slow, and only ever care about getting my car in-​and-​out, then onto the next. Sick of the waiting period and tired of being overcharged for a mediocre job, I did some Unilocal research and discovered Shine Auto Detailing. I had a few spare minutes during my crazy busy work week and was hoping to be able to bring it in and drop it off, just for a car wash. I called Shine during the busy lunch hour mid-​week, and didn’t expect that they’d be able to wash my car or be willing to let me leave my car there till EOD! However, Cody answered the phone, asked me my make and model, and quoted me an extremely fair price for a hand-​washed job on a an SUV — $ 45 (they’re a hand-​wash only service)!!! Furthermore, he said to come on in and that leaving my car on their lot wouldn’t be an issue whatsoever! I told him I didn’t want to spend more than $ 45, but was happy to listen to what his detail package entailed. After speaking with him for just a few minutes, I was extremely impressed by his professionalism — could tell he was the real deal. I explained that I had one real big ding/​scratch and inquired about the possibility of them being able to buff it out. He told me that as long as it was just residue, not a deep scratch, or my own paint that peeled up from under as a result of my mini fender bender, he was certain he’d be able to buff it out! I ended up going with the full detail package, which included everything under the sun and more for $ 150. My parents told me that just paid over $ 150 for a full-​detail in AZ that included a steam clean/​power wash on the engine. I called cody back to ask if that was included and he informed that it usually costs $ 35 more, but to consider it taken care for being a new new client! I brought my car over, quickly handed off the keys to two extremely professional gentlemen! I told them I’d be back at the end of the day and that I had to run back to my office, and they even offered a ride back to down the street! They finished in less than 2 hours and sent me a text as per my request! I picked it up and my car was in immaculate shape, better than a full service detail from BMW that I pay big bucks for a few times a year!!! I could rave on and on! If you’re looking for an immaculate car wash and/​or detail at an affordable price from friendly and professional gentlemen, I HIGHLY suggest visiting Shine Auto Detailing — an absolute gem of a spot in Solana Beach conveniently located right off the 101! Thanks Cody and team, you all made my week! I’ve haven’t stop raving about Shine to my friends and colleagues! I will definitely be back soon! 6+ stars!

This is the BEST place! I shopped around for ages looking for a reasonably priced, decent car wash service. I’m so happy I found Cody and his amazing team! Great price and the car came out cleaner than when I picked it up brand new from the garage! It was spotless and sparkling. I’ve been so disappointed with other hand car washes in San Diego but this is hands down the best one. Cody was so helpful and lovely. He takes such pride in his work. Don’t go anywhere else!

Best car detail and wash my car has ever had ! Cody was extremely professional friendly and efficient ! I live in Arizona and car wash and detailing is terrible. I paid 20.00 for my wash and they didn’t miss a spot, Cody even picked in the fact that I had to drive back to Arizona and put a free bug resistant spray in front. AWESOME job ! thank you ! Made me so happy, usually I am pissed after paying 40.00 $ in az. Cause they miss so many spots ! But Cody knows his stuff. My car was immaculate. Thanks Cody

These guys are so awesome! It’s rare that you see people take so much pride in what they do, but Cody was unbelievably nice and helpful. They are super professional and quick! He literally took care of every detail of my car as if it were his own. Super cool guys that work hard… I’m setting a standing date with Cody every two weeks to keep my new car looking better than the day I bought it! Thanks for making my day, Guys!

Had my 2007 Volvo detailed (after it was shipped from Chicago) and it was in rough shape. Had contacted several mobile detailers who were quoting about twice what Cody charged.
Volvo was washed, buffed, waxed, all windows are now crystal clear. VERY pleased — nice people, easy to work with… and the beach is about 800 feet away (great place to hang out while the car was in process). Definitely bringing the rest of my vehicles here.

These guys are by far the best value in car detailing in San Diego. I did a lot of shopping around and for what most places are charging $ 200 plus for, Cody and the guys come TO ME, completed for under 100, and in excellent detail. They even were able to magically remove the smoke stains almost completely from the interior roof of my car. Amazing service, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thanks a ton guys. I’ll be back for sure.

I feel like I got the ultimate birthday present — a new car! My husband brought my 13-​year-​old BMW to Cody’s «beauty shop» and when we picked it up, I gasped. It looked fantastic! The shiny, waxed exterior with a decade of scratches smoothed out and then the inside, all the leather restored and brand new… Cody and his crew did a wonderful job. And, they even sang the Beatles, «They Say It’s Your Birthday!» as we approached the car. And yes, I had a great time driving it home!

I can’t say enough good things about what Cody has done for both of my vehicles. Based on a need to make my vehicles last in our coastal climate, I took Cody’s advice on applying a «paint sealer» to my new vehicle. It not only looks amazing, but really makes the shine last between washings, truly providing protection to the paint! When it is time to wash it, the road filth sprays right off. It performs so well, I had Cody apply it to my 8 year old truck and it looks like new! I HIGHLY recommend the paint sealer treatment that Cody applies! Worth every penny many times over!

I treated myself to a full wash and detail after meeting Cody — super friendly and accommodating owner. I was not disappointed! My car looks brand new. It’s been two weeks and it still makes me happy every time I get in it. So worth every penny!

I’m very particular about my black on black SUV, and have never taken it to a «car wash”– to keep it brand new, I spray it at a do-​it-​yourself and detail it myself on a regular basis. Who has time for that?! Pain. –Good workout though! So happy to have met Cody– he understood my OCD — and did a way better job than I could have done in a fraction of the time, and at a very reasonable price! Happy to have FINALLY found a reliable, convenient place I can trust to help me maintain a swirl-​free, shiny, sexy ride. :)

Ok I have a black mini-​van which hadn’t been washed OR waxed in probably 2 years (or more)! It was BAD… I was over near Solana Beach and needed a good wash & detail without breaking the «mini-​van bank»… Cody and his team took me without an appointment (he suggests you have one though…) and I couldn’t believe the transformation! In one hour, I now have a Tesla! Gorgeous! They were awesome…

Great service! I stopped here in the afternoon to wash my car with the self wash Halfway through my wash stand stopped. I asked the man, John, at the detailing section for help and he gave me a credit which meant more time to clean. He didn’t hassle me about it, just fixed the wash so I could finish washing my car. It was so nice not to drive home in a soapy pink car. I didn’t have nay extra money to start over so I am glad he was there to help.
