The best hair cut I’ve ever had and the most comfortable shop with a great beachy vibe. Vicky is the best!

Professional hair cut that draya did for me, she took my bad hair cut and made me look more hands down good looking. Calm and friendly environment can’t go wrong when you have the best taking care of you.

Vickie is the BEST!!! She knows hair and is a real artist. She’s a consummate professional: she listens to what you want, asks for clarification and if asked will offer ideas on cuts, color or treatments. I am a perfectionist and Vickie has never disappointed me, I always look forward to my appointments with Vickie.

Vickie Lavanty Salon is an incredible little gem. If you know anything about international fashion and the people that bring real fashion to San Diego, then you should know who Vickie is. She is a Master Stylist and Trainer. She teaches all the latest fashions to San Diego’s hair styling community. She’s won dozens of awards, worked all over the world. She worked with Vidal Sassoon for years and every year she goes to the academy in London to learn the latest trends. If you are looking for the best kept secret in Solana Beach, then go to this place.

Vickie Lavanty is one of the best hairstylist in all of San Diego. I get my hair cut here a couple times a month and wouldn’t go anywhere else. She has her own way of cutting hair that is personalized just for you and will keep you going back.

really disappointing. according to herself, she knows her stuff. however, her customer serice is the worst ever. she is on her cell phone, talks non-stop about herself, was doing my hair and another person’s hair at the same time, didn’t follow what i asked for, and then told me when i expressed my dissatisfaction, «i am not worried about it.» i called her immediately after my hair faded four days later, she ignored three of my calls and when i got her on the phone, she told me too bad«there was nothing she could do about it» and hung up on me. he salon is dirty and beat up and she gives you absolutley no special/pamper treatment. very unprofessional and self-absorbed. really a sad experience for me since having my hair done is one of the biggest treats to myself. would never recommend her even is she does supposedly know her color and cuts.

Very happy with my haircuts. Charlotte does a wonderful job. She uses a precise haircutting technique originated by vidal sassoon. She knows what she is doing and offers a lot of experience advice when asked. Definitely recommended!

I have short short hair and it needs to be cut every six weeks without fail. I can’t tell you how many places I’ve gone — especially in La Jolla, where the over-charge you for a crappy job and I end up walking out looking like a boy or a butch — either way, NOBUENO! Vickie does the BEST job — has been cutting hair for over thirty years, is always SUPER mellow and she charges totally reasonable prices. For as long as I live in San Diego, I will never go anywhere else.

I go here every time I can possibly drag myself from San Diego. The stylist I go to is Charlotte. She does an excellent job. My first visit was a free cut I got from her because of a charity event she participated in and I attended. She’s philanthropic and a great stylist… what more could you want really. She cut my hair exactly how I described. I was more than happy to pay for the following visits. I’ve gotten my hair cut in just under a dozen different places since I moved to San Diego and she is by far the best I’ve come across. Furthermore, I like the entire staff at the Vicky Lavanty salon. They’re super friendly and I find their antics pretty amusing. I think these people are interesting. The place is tiny and has a charm about it that I can’t quite describe. I don’t usually review for salons on Unilocal but after weighing the competition, I felt I needed to give the Vicky Lavanty Salon it’s props.

I am currently wearing a t-shirt and Chuck Purcell sneakers, both by John Varvatos, Ermenegilda Vegna cut-off cargo short, and Jil Sanders wood-frame prescription glasses. On that note where was Sarah Purce when I needed a hair-cut from this awesome stylist for the Coachella Music Festival and Metallica’s Big 4 concert. Recently, Ms. Purce gave me a male cut that had a clean book-worm look but at the same time a rock-star appeal(think Coachella Music Festival). Yes, the hair-cut was party in the front and business in the back. If you are a male of hipster status that needs a cut that exudes excitement and flamboyance then Ms. Purce is your stylist.

I have been going to Vickie for 18 years now and I travel down from Los Angeles to see her! I would not trust my hair to just anyone. She’s done everything from long to short to blonde to brunette on me. I always trust her to make it look good, and not only that, but she cuts it in such a way that I don’t have to get it done very often(which is good because I only make it down there 2 or 3 times per year). She did my hair, my husband’s hair, and all of my bridesmaids, for my wedding. She did my baby’s first haircut. She really knows how to pick styles that flatter an individual person’s face and won’t just give you a haircut you pick out of a magazine, unless that style would look good on your face. In the 18 years, I have never had a bad haircut with her.

Went to this salon to support local business. Bad haircut and style for son’s wedding. Thought the staff was snotty, very aloof.

I went to Vicky’s «assistant». I brought a picture of Meg Ryan from«You’ve Got Mail». I had shoulder length hair and have had this haircut before. I left the salon with an A-line bob and the comment, «I have given you a precision haircut, there is nothing more I can do». I scheduled a follow up with Vicky and that appointment was cancelled because«there was really nothing they could do for me». I was able to get the drastic step taken out of the back by a seasoned stylist in La Jolla and she texturized what was left of my hair to get it similar to the picture. NOCUSTOMERSERVICE. NOREGARDFORMYWISHES. I left in tears. Now, after 3 months it is starting to look like it should. Do NOT go to this salon. The assistant has NO experience and could have cared less.

Just to let you San Diegan Unilocalers know, I’ve recommended Vickie to all my friends. My east coast friends come to her when visiting me. Even my cousin from Canada loves her. So seriously. Just trust her. She knows.
