This place is in such a great location I am really disappointed they didn’t do better. The service wasn’t great. I think our server came to our table one time, maybe two. The young man who brought out bread and water was more attentive than she was. I ordered a water to start with the intention of possibly getting a glass of wine, but the waitress never came back. Oh well. Their beer and wine choices were lacking. The food wasn’t great either. I got enchiladas and the best part of the meal was the guacamole. I was really disappointed because the inside is adorable. Several waitresses walked by but would not even make eye contact with us or if I looked at one they would look away. We waited 15 minutes with our check and no one came by to pick it up so we just ended up going to the bar to have what I assume is the manager check us out. I would have given less stars but the guy who brought us water was nice, the guac was great, and so was the bread at the beginning of the meal. I don’t think I’ll be back but if I do give them a second chance it will just be to grab a glass of wine and I’ll sit at the bar.

First time here… After reading the reviews I really expected some great food and service… Food turned out to be mediocre and the service horrible… I had the lobster and shrimp enchiladas and they were pretty bland… After our check was dropped off at the table we waited 15 minutes and finally had to walk up to the door to pay our bill… Definitely a disappointment … Won’t be back

Food and service was great. Please ignore Robert T’s vegan fueled rant. Suggestions are great but to ding a lovely Mexican Fusion inspired restaurant just because it does not have vegan dishes is bully like behavior. Does Robert go into Italian restaurants and complain that there is no Thai dishes? If you like good food and friendly service please visit this restaurant!

Probably one of my new favorite restaurants. Dined here before a show a few weeks ago and were blown away by the quality of everything. The food, the service, the ambience… everything gets an A+. Started off with the truffle fries of course… so delicious! Their French onion soup is probably the best I’ve ever had. Hubby really enjoyed his sliders! Our waitress was awesome :) Loved the décor they have all around too! And also, if you’re going to a show at the belly up, they have their own entrance where you can line up. I would dine here even if I’m not going to a show. It’s a little on the smaller side so I recommend reservations.

We have been coming to this restaurant for years. The location is great. The manager is always very friendly and lovely. The atmosphere is great and the food is outstanding. It’s a great place for lunch or dinner.

Food was really good although if you want to wait twenty minutes to get your order taken after ordering drinks and waiting another fifteen minutes to get an iced tea then this is your place. The three stars was for the food, zero stars for the service.

We had dinner here prior to our show. The restaurant is connected to the Belly Up Tavern and shares a restroom. Service was fine. Our server took our drink orders and then came back with bread and butter and took our food orders. The food was brought out in a timely manner and tasted okay too. I ordered the Certified Sterling Beef burger and fries cooked medium well; it came back pretty well done and the meat lacked seasoning, but ketchup made things all right. The fries were thin and crispy. The meal overall was greasy and satisfying and filled me right up so I could spend the next few hours next door enjoying the show. The ladies bathrooms was pretty clean, the lighting could be better though, and one of the sinks wasn’t working.

Super cute and convenient shin dig next to the music venue next door. Good menu and fast and friendly service. We had to wait a few minutes but not too bad for a Friday night. Lobster pot stickers and fish tacos hit the spot after a long day travelling. The concert venue is huge.

This establishment needs to make some badly-needed changes to their menu, paying particular attention to vegans, which are growing in numbers. Considering the acts they are scheduling in the Belly Up, they are sure to have more and more vegans in the mix as ever. I realize this is a small restaurant, but all they need to do is add a couple of vegan entrees. Their chef should check out Café Gratitude, Civico 1845 or The Purple Mint to see some examples of terrific vegan entrees. The edamame and guacamole and chips are the only vegan items currently. They could increase their business by simply adding two vegan entrees.

I always forget to reserve a table when I’m going to shows at the Belly Up Tavern. Luckily, before Nick Lowe… I was able to sit at the bar and grab some dinner. I was a little disappointed the chicken pasta dish changed. Used to have artichoke hearts and other things in it, and wasn’t as good. The tomato bisque style soup was incredible. My date also loved her chicken dish(I forget what kind it was, but came with pita bread and was spicey; she couldn’t stop raving about it). They always bring you bread that’s the best you’ll ever have before a meal, especially with that garlic butter to spread on it. Also, it’s nice that they’ll let you into the venue before the regular crowd if you’re going to a show at the Belly Up, which is nice if you want to sit down, because the tables with chairs fill up fast.

I have been to the Wild Note a few times and generally really enjoyed the food. The menu is simple and straight forward and the food tastes great. The service is generally okay. Can’t say I was impressed with the service on my last visit and this was reflected in my tip. Waitress was slow and not very attentive. Especially considering how quiet it was. I’d would recommend trying The Wild Note and judging for yourself.

Had Chicken tacos, large portion, wife had Chicken sandwich, both portions were very generous. Staff are friendly, prices are fair for the portion. Nice outside seating. Great lunch spot.

Went there for brunch on a Sunday. We planned on going to Clair’s but there was an hour wait, so we found this place and enjoyed it. The vibe was cool– rustic, with music pics BB King on the wall. Our food was delicious– the spinach omelette and mango french toast. Not 5 stars because our guy forgot about us. Had to go up to the bar to ask for more OJ, but the bar back was super helpful. And it’s pretty small, so if you get a large family seated next you with loud kids, like we did, you’ll hear everything.

Not thrilled with our experience. Terrible service and bad food at a ridiculous price. We were greeted as we walked in to an almost entirely empty restaurant early friday evening and a female server in her 30s allowed us to pick a table. She came over a few minutes later and at first seemed friendly enough, but I was quickly turned off by her attitude. I’m gluten intolerant and asked if a certain dish had flour. She looked at me like I was an absolute moron and said, «Ohhhh yes, it has LOTS of flour and LOTS of butter!» I was really irritated about that because A.) It’s a really insensitive and slightly condescending way to answer a legitimate question and B.) Umm, did I even ask about the dairy? No, I didn’t. I felt she was making assumptions about my diet and/or lifestyle or something. I didn’t ask if it was vegan. I asked if it had flour. Totally different and unrelated. She definitely could have had a more understanding and polished tone to her voice, especially when it comes to food allergies. Whatever, I shrugged this off. We ordered a a few starters and our meals and she asked about drinks. My boyfriend and I both said, «Just water please» and her face immediately and noticeably changed into a look of irritation and disappointment. She then looked at my boyfriend again, and said, «You sure you don’t want to look at our drink menu?» Tried to pressure us into ordering drinks, which isn’t going to work, it’s only going to upset people. NOTEVERYBODYDRINKS! At this point her pushiness and attitude were pretty irritating. She left and had to come back again 1 minute later to ask what we ordered because she already forgot. The best thing about this place was actually the food runner. The young man who dropped off all our food was actually doing the server’s job. Re-filling our waters twice, asking us if we want hot sauce and bringing us everything before the waitress even returned to our table. We got our appetizers promptly, but there was a 20 minute wait in between our appetizers and our meals, which is inexcusable for an empty restaurant. I swear the chefs left the kitchen to go take a break. I don’t know if that’s the chef’s fault or if the waitress timed it like that, but we sat there starving and looking for our waitress to get an ETA. Our entire time there, she was nowhere to be found. She kept running off into the back. While we were waiting for our food she finally re-emerged and stood there talking and laughing with the kitchen staff about their personal lives while I looked her way to try to get her attention. She saw me looking at her and didn’t bother to come over to see if we need anything, to ask us if we had a question, to let us know how much longer it would be, she just straight up ignored us. Guess what chick? I’m a bartender and served tables for a long time and if someone is staring your way, they probably aren’t admiring your face… they need you for something. Pick up on the cues, or find a new job because you really suck. I got the Mahi Mahi tacos and they were so disgusting I almost sent it back. Dry, bland, and flavorless. Rice was cold, and they didn’t even come prepared as tacos. It was a tiny portion of fish with no seasoning surrounded by rice and beans and tortillas for $ 17.50. What a ripoff. Any taco shop in SD can make a way better plate for half the price or less. As we were paying our bill in cash, she was suddenly hovering around our table, not even allowing us to figure out a tip in privacy, literally taking the money from my hand before I was done counting it. Considering she ignored us, was pushy and preferred to give priority to the bar guests that were drinking, we tipped appropriately. I wish I would have given the tip to the food runner, who did all the work, but I couldn’t find him as we were exiting. Get rid of her and give him her job, he would work harder and be much more grateful. I definitely won’t be returning. I’m sorry I wasted over $ 50 on this place.

Great service and the food was delicious. We had Joy as a waitress and she was an absolute sweetheart. She was quick and accommodating. She had many recommendations for what food to try and was very excited for me to try and really understood the menu. I ordered the short rib sliders as per Joys suggestion and couldn’t have been happier. They were delicious. The meat was super tender and the flavor a worked so well together. I will most definitely make this a refusal spot to visit.

I love this place! Home of the Belly Up and there little restaurant next door is where you may see your favorite artist dining after soundcheck or hanging out before the show. Wild Note is open for lunch and I really enjoyed the tacos and my Veggie burger with Hummus, Avo, Sprouts, etc. The sweet potato fries are amazing. So far, I have tried the burger(fantastic), tacos were great, seabass dinner, and a salmon salad. The only thing I didn’t like was the sauce on the salmon salad so if you order it DONOT get the sauce, it ruins the dish. Other than that, I’ve had great lunches there and their Sunday brunch Mango french toast and Eggs Benedict with a spinach hollandaise is fantastic. Don’t forget a bottle of champagne. Wine and beer are available and cocktails, they just have to make them inside the Belly Up and walk back over. Espresso machine is always rocking after a nice meal and right before the show to pick you back up. Not sure if skip the line is still going, but before if you spent $ 20 and showed your receipt you could get in the show through Wild Note.

Stopped in here for an impromptu dinner with some friends and our four footed babies in tow. I was very happy to see that first and foremost they are VERY dog friendly. They have even invested in their very own dog bowls for their doggie customers. We looked over our menus and had a few questions, which were answered very honestly by our server. I appreciated that even more than her easy smile and personal demeanor. When an employee is that forthcoming with a straight answer towards their menu I can count on an exceptional experience. She recommended the Shrimp and Lobster Enchiladas and I LOVED every bite. I only had room for one of the enchiladas because they were FULL of shrimp and lobster, but I boxed up the rest and it made a lovely breakfast the following morning. My friends are tiny women who ventured away from their healthy diets and ordered the Tequila Chicken Spring Rolls. I was lucky and traded part of my enchilada for half of the spring roll. OMG soooo delicious. I would definitely order these again(and AGAIN). They will grill up some nice hamburger for your doggy companion. Our three dogs shared some hamburger and they smacked their lips with satisfaction. This is a wonderful little place to stop in after a day of shopping or to have a nice dinner before you go to a Belly Up show. The food is wonderful, the staff is super friendly and the patio is a nice place for your pooch to have a bite to eat and some cool water to chill out with. I look forward to coming back to The Wild Note Café.
