Idyllic spot to sit and sip wine. Quaint and cozy or a great place to post up on the balcony and people watch from above the crowds as the windmill slowly turns. Oh, and there’s wine.

«It doesn’t matter what I say about it; drink what you like, not what people say about it.» — owner/winemaker, Chris. My husband and I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon(a day they’re usually not open), and sat with Chris for about 2 hours entertaining each other with stories and sipping wine. We ended up not purchasing wine, but going to dinner at Trattoria Grappolo per Chris’ suggestion. I won’t get into conversation details, you have to have your own experience. The wines were lovely(esp the sauvignon blanc), the sunset views were ample and the windmill has great architecture. Thanks, Chris for the candid laughs!

Oh my God it’s in a windmill! Such great views of the valley. The wines are very solid, they apparently just opened this tasting room but the winery has been around for a while. The whites are perfect for today’s balmy weather and gawking at the tourists below. The staff is a fun group that knows about the wine but doesn’t bore me with tech chat. It was just fun. We played with the vinyl record collection, they let us chose what to play and our dog was welcome. We sat on the second story patio and stayed till close last night with the owner. We had so much fun we came back today after lunch and did adult coloring books for therapy!

We stumbled on the winery because we saw«tourist» climbing up the stairs to get a pic in front of the windmill. We had passed but many wineries and did not know where to stop. After walking around for a while we decided to stop here to have a good view and relax. The staff was very nice. They brought in seating for us from outside. The wine tasting was $ 10 for 5 tasting, 6 of you count the dessert wine. The wines were great! Now I’m not a red wine kinda person but but they had great blends! Wine from Santa Barbara. They even gave me an extra sample of the ringer wine because I loved it so much. The dessert wine was amazing! Tasted like honey lol we bought 2 bottle of wine! Would def come back to this place on our next trip!

Wine tasting at Lost Point took our day trip to Solvang from okay to awesome! Holdyn(hope I spelled correctly) is the reason and was fantastic. All wines were presented well during our tasting. She was not overwhelming with wine stats and recited tasting notes but, she knew the answers for the few«important» questions I had. Plus, the windmill is awesome and the music from the record player is timeless. My lady bought a couple bottles of wine that tasted great. ’13 Sauv. Blanc & ’12 «Limited Edition» Lighthouse Cuvee. We both look forward to visiting this unique tasting room again.

Had a wonderful time during a random trip trough Solvang. Christian was a great host and the wine was great! $ 10 tasting, and we ended up buying two bottles. We will definitely be coming back to the«windmill»!

If you go one place in Solvang, this is it! Wine tasting in the second story of a windmill. Need I say more?

Best location for a tasting room ever!!! The staff is knowledgeable and fun. The Windmill Cuvee was my favorite. Yummy! What better way to get a feel for Solvang than sitting on the balcony of a windmill sipping wine watching the horse and cart go by. This was the most fun I’ve had for a long time. A Solvang must!

My favorite so far… In the Windmill with great view, the wine is superb, I was very taken aback by the smooth wonderful flavor, I didn’t want to swallow, but as Christian quickly filled my glass back up, I knew it was safe to swallow with more on the way. This is a must wine for even the fussiest of wine enthusiast. I work across the street and have all the tasting rooms at my finger tips, but always gravitate back to «The Lost Point» where you too will be found, once your lips have savored the unique blessing bestowed your sipping to surely not leave without a case to keep around. You’ll find yourself stashing this one to relish for yourself, not even letting your guests enjoy for fear there won’t be any left for your own favorite pleasure. Fabulous
