Apple River Hideaway Campground and Tubing

I had so much fun here. It was very clean and the bar was cool because it was outside but covered in case weather is bad. Love this place!

If you like to party, THIS is your spot! Tubing is great, people are friendly. Not for families. Be prepared for plenty of day drinking! So fun!

The miles of river front campsites make the best view and atmosphere. The night life at the river front bar creates unforgettable memories, making people want to come back every summer! Definitely the place to party for a great summer weekend!

The owner is one of the biggest jerk I’ve ever met, along with his staff/​family. He is so used to dealing with college kids, he doesn’t know how to treat adults with respect. There is a deposit for every single thing, they charge per person per vehicle. If you are over the age of 35 do not camp here, they talk down to you and will actually lie to get you in trouble with the locals. They outright accused my husband and I of something we did not, would never and could not have done. We are 40 years old and do not mess around. We are still baffled by their actions. Serious backwoods stuff. Stay far away.

The worst campground on the Apple River– hands down. Management is terrible and only seem to be concerned with charging for each and every little thing. We paid for our stay ahead of time. Upon arrival, we noticed how rundown it was. Before we had even unpacked, we asked for a refund to go somewhere else. They refused to reimburse us. We had not utilized any of their services, yet they still refused. We left anyway — it was that bad. Very poorly run. As a business owner myself, I realize the importance of addressing concerns in a respectful manner and taking care of things with the consumer in mind. After all, negative reviews spread much faster than positive ones. That is a basic concept these business owners seem to have forgotten, or have failed to realize. I would highly recommend Float Rite or Apple River Family Campground. Both give you the environment you’re looking for when going to the Apple River — (drunken) fun on the river, surrounded with friends and family. Wooded campsites to provide some privacy, clean restrooms, and great management are all found at FR and ARFC.

Horrible. Didn’t have any food. Was invited by ppl who paid to stay to spend the night and was watched vicariously by ppl on go karts, would go as far as harassment, paid to stay, then at an appropriate time asked to be reimbursed to leave bc the place is a joke and was told ‘absolutely not’ ‘could you go to a bad movie and ask for your money back?’ Well actually asshole, yes. Definitely won’t be coming back! Total waste

The tubing is fun. I’ve had several great experiences there. However this is not a «family» type setting. This is a teenage and college hangout place. Loud concerts and «alternative» activities abound. I would not suggest that families sleep overnight at times. The river can be a drunken mess at times and inapproiate things can/​may/​will happen. So just know what you are getting in to. It is a great place to hang with buddies and coeds, but it might be R rated plus for families on weekends.
