History

Established in 2003.

From the Abbey began as a Catholic table sale business, selling Catholic books & media at conferences and events. I also began a public speaking career teaching about the Catholic faith to parishes and Catholic organizations. However, I was also teaching full-​time in a Catholic high school, so I didn’t have time to develop my apostolate very much.

In 2005 I quit my teaching job to be an at-​home father, but I never lost the sense of mission to teach about the Catholic faith. I established an online presence and began selling books online and writing a website.

In 2010, my vision for From the Abbey solidified and I began work on an online Catholic learning system for adults, which I am calling the Catholic Learning Plan.

I began working with Lighthouse Catholic Media and Ignatius Press in 2010 as well. From my work with them, I devised a system to training and consulting with adult educators within parishes. This program is called the Parish Education Plan.

Meet the Business Owner

Jeffrey A.

Business Owner

Jeff Arrowood is a husband, father and Catholic educator. Besides his main vocation of raising his family and getting them to heaven, Jeff is also a Catholic educator. His mission is to help Catholic adults discover the joy of learning their faith so they can grow in intimacy with God. Jeff has a master’s degree in theological studies from the Institute of Religious and Pastoral Studies out of the University of Dallas (the program has since moved to Ave Maria University and become the Institute of Pastoral Theology). There, he had the honor of being taught in the faith by such greats as Dr. Douglas Bushman, Dr. Marcellino D’Ambrosio, Fr. Mitch Pacwa and Dr. Mark Lawry. Jeff taught for 10 years in a Catholic high school. He is now running From the Abbey out of his home as a stay-​home father.
