This is my favorite and most frequent go-to dinner place whenever we visit the Pleasant Valley, Somerset and Fairplay vineyards and wineries, south of Placerville. The prices are reasonable and the food quality is great. My personal favorite is the Calamari which is simply amazing. The Gold Vine is also very popular with the locals including winery owners and winemakers who frequent the bar there at the end of the day.

I have eaten here a few times the past few years. They have an excellent menu, quality food, and the service has always been good. My favorite day to eat is Wednesday, Burger Night. The selection of burgers is terrific. I have yet to finish one, there is so much food. A great place to eat.

Went to Fair Play for a girls day(30th Birthday) trip and had a blast at the local vineyards. When it was time for dinner we made a reservation for Gold Vine and we’re super excited to try it out, especially based on the Unilocal reviews. Let me start with, the food was incredible. I had the blackended salmon with the Cajun cream sauce and I think I picked the best thing on the menu, because it was delicious. I wouldn’t normally give a one star review if I like the food as much as I did, but the service over powered the good cooking so much so that I would give negative stars if it were possible. The waitress/server didn’t seem to know anything about the menu items, or the wine list. This is a town that is primarily visited for the wine… Once we got our food we didn’t mind much that she didn’t know much about it because it all seemed to turn out as good as mine. She barely checked on us again after we received our food. Getting dessert menus, the bill, and our cards back was a hassle and we had to ask another waitress more than once to ask our server to come over to us. Mind you, this place is about 10 tables big. One of our group members ordered a dessert and it came out burnt. When her and I tried to talk to the staff member she basically threw her hands up and asked us what we wanted her to do about it. When I asked if we could just get a refund for the dessert, she said that’s not possible. When asking to speak with the manager she said there was no manager or owner there that night. We finally said ok and left the establishment. As we were walking out the door she said the owner was here to speak with us. He walked over to us in an apron(he was also doubling as the chef) and asked us what the problem was, when telling him our experience he said«I’m cooking for a lot of people, not sure what you want me to do». I couldn’t believe the service by multiple members of the staff. We left promptly after that. I will never go back here, nor do I recommend this to anyone visiting Fair Play.

I really wanted to like this place. Everything in gold country is intimate and homey and friendly. But this local restaurant is severely lacking. I can’t tell if the wait staff are all teenaged family members or just inept local girls. Nevertheless I was incredibly disappointed by the service. Their poor service was most evident in the staff’s disdain for my 8 person party. They basically ignored us, I had to ask multiple times for dessert menus, our water glasses stayed empty, and good luck getting answers about the food. It was like they’d never heard of any of it. This establishment markets itself as fine food in wine country but operates like a diner, its employees lacking refinement and courtesy. That said, the food was good. Excellent presentation, sizable portions and deliciously prepared. I had the steak and lobster with garlic mashed potatoes. The lobster was amazing and prepared perfectly. While the meat was cooked to order, it was drowning in some type of gravy and seemed low quality. Salmon quesadilla was imaginativeness the Mac and cheese was standard but of course tasty. The blackened salmon with Cajun seasoning sauce was incredible and flavorful. So 20 mins after I ordered crème brûlée, it arrived burnt. The top layer was gelatinous and burnt so it tasted like charcoal. The waitress say me attempting to break the top with my spoon and didn’t seem concerned that it wouldn’t break. I attempted to eat it any way and it was horrible. I sent it back and asked her to deduct that from the bill. Specifically asked her. I never send things back. When the bill came, they charged me for it and after I asked why it was there, the waitress explained they can’t undue it. Because apparently their point of sale system is from 1993? I’m unsure. I asked to speak with the manager(she said he was out sick) and bent over backwards to attempt to communicate with the girl to no avail. Finally, she returned cash to me, but not the full amount of the dessert. As my group left, the waitress informed me that the«cook/owner» would speak to us. He simply came out to say he was too busy to talk and didn’t care about our issue. Again, disappointing and strange. Sac town visitors pay the bills in this emerging touristy area and my entire group was shocked by this place’s back hills attitude. Pro tip: skip it and bring a gourmet picnic.

This is seriously one of the best places to eat in all of El Dorado county. You will never go wrong with the Gold Vine, Allez! in Diamond Springs or Pairings at Miraflores. Ever. The calamari is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. The service is exceptional, the wine list deep and the value is incredible.

Amazing food and service! The location is indiscreet and looks like a little hole in the wall from the outside but the food is amazing. I had the crab cakes and wine flight. Absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to come back and have a full entrée!

Wonderful little cozy bistro with an amazing filet, salmon and other wonderful menu items. We are so lucky to have great food so close to home. For those wine tasting, it’s only 15 min past the Shenandoah wine country up Shenandoah Rd, and on the corner of Bucks Bar Rd which takes you back to Hwy 50 by Diamond Springs.

We had dinner here Sunday evening. It was our second visit but our friends live locally and they eat here often. I had the Calamari it was very good My husband had the rib eye steak. He said it was good but the serving size was really small. There aren’t a large number of places that are nice in the area to eat. We will probably come back sometime.

We have been here several times for lunch and go out of our way to visit when we want to drive thru wine country and finish with lunch. The wines served are local and can be ordered by the glass. I love the choice of salads. Today I ordered blackened salmon on a salad and the salmon was nicely spiced and not over-cooked. The portion was large and I had enough to ask for a take home box. My husband had clam chowder which was made in-house and had a creamy texture, lots of clams and was not over-salted. Service is friendly and competent. I love the menu as there is some imagination on the components of the paninis, burgers and lunch salads. The dinner menu seems to be chef-inspired and dinners are probably even more amazing than lunch.

Cute little restaurant and wine bar in Somerset and a convenient stop after a day of wine tasting in the area. We were happy to get a reservation for my Mom’s birthday dinner. Seating is a bit cramped, especially if one ventures to the restroom, but I did quite enjoy the lighting. Service is a bit slow and staff are friendly enough. The food is pretty tasty, but it’s definitely in the fancy restaurant style of small portions on the pricier side. I enjoyed my pear and walnut salad and the mac n cheese side with bacon and jalapenos. General agreement around the table was that the food was tasty but the portions were small, which again, I think is in the style of the place. We can’t be fat Americans everywhere, now can we? All in all, I found this establishment welcoming and accommodating and the food tasty and visually appealing. It’s a convenient enough stop in the area, but I’m not sure I would hurry back due to pricing and general experience. I’ll be looking to try another local eatery the next time I’m in the area for tasting.

We have stopped here at least 2 or 3 times on the way to/from picking up our wines at the wineries and it always is a pleasant experience. This time I had the Grizzly burger — so good, but the peppers do have a little kick. I paired it with a Grenache Rose so it helped with the spice. The service is always very nice. Altogether a wonderful little place with great food and service and the prices are totally reasonable. We will likely stop here again when we are in the area.

I try this place because it was highly recommended by some friends, my opinion they had one of the most amazing fish I ever taste«the halibut» I love that they carry local wine and else that the owners are really involve in service the coster them selves, with others dishes in the menu I can truly say that I highly recommend this great restaurant. Busy most of the time but it’s worth the wait.

Excellent food. Good and friendly service. Even the music was just loud enough to hear, but not overwhelming. Parking was even easy! I had the veggie panini with salad, house red pepper dressing on the side. It was fresh, flavorful and well balanced. The zucchini sticks marvelous, with the ranch dip. All around, a great experience.
