A.C. Moore Arts and Crafts

Whether the project is big or small I always come out satisfied with the selection they have. My best friend and I recently started a photography business and we are always going in to find props or materials for our photo studio.

Lots of nothing and not much of anything. Pricey for what you get, limited selection. It is frustrating to need a nice paper and to be faced with an entire aisle of stacks of a single brand of pricey single sheets.
They do have a good selection of paper punches.

Slowest checkout imaginable. Take a deep breath and bring your sleeping bag. Don’t come here if you have high blood pressure.

When I’m home on break from school, I have all the time in the world to get jiggy with the arts & crafts (I do go to art school ya know), and I love how AC-​izzy Moore-​zzy gives me that fix.
I’m always able to roam the isles for stuff that I buy to make my life more artsy & colorful.
There is usually a 30% coupon for rewards members that I always take full advantage of.
I love crafting on the wild side…

Have been coming here alot more often since my son started school and they always need things donated for class… I could spend my whole paycheck in this store…
Being that Im such a crafty person, I want to always do EVERYTHING I see there…

Oh, AC Moore.
I’m a self admitted craft-​a-​holic. I frequent this particular AC Moore at least 3 times a month.
While others may say «oh, that’s not too often.» I’d like to take a moment and sum up what a craft store visit with me is like. My girlfriend has gotten into the habit of either staying at home, or waiting in the car while I’m running amok. On my most recent visit I hit an all time record at 2 hours spent in the store itself.
I run a little lifestyle blog where I do DIY tutorials every Saturday. With that, I need a constant influx of supplies. I have the store layout just about memorized and know my exact go to points. Yarn, fabric paint, jewelry making.
I’ve been eyeballing the wood burning kits for months now. It may just be my next big undertaking.
The employees are what you’d expect. Depending on whom you get they can be rather knowledgeable. And if you don’t luck out, you’ll just experience customer service given by someone getting paid $ 9 an hour to deal with scrap booking moms and first time fabric buyers. (I speak from experience).
All in all, I love AC Moore.

Go here for a great selection in the yarn department, although they are all fairly lower quality yarns. No cashmere, for example, and the wools and cottons are more limited. Otherwise, there is a wide variety of great yarns that are well displayed and reasonably priced. There is a nice display of a lot of different accoutrements for the knitter/​crocheter as well. On my most recent trip, the cashier, for whom I did not have to wait at all, offered a me a club card for future discounts. I will go back!

I went here recently after hearing about a 4 for $ 10 special on t-​shirts. I was expecting lower quality shirts, but the Haynes brand I bought were just what I needed.
The special has since expired, but I’ll be on the lookout for more deals like this from this store!

Good prices, huge inventory, extensive crafty odds and ends, and nice staff!

The people who work here are brain dead. At least on a weekday afternoon. I went here looking for glass frosting and I got sent all over the store by different sales people only to see they didn’t have it.
Another time I went to get acrylic paint markers but again, no advice from the sales people on the difference between the two types of Deco colours, which I do believe are different for a reason.
Oh well, I’m not going to hold out hope that every person who works here is an artist expert. They are always pretty friendly and polite, so that’s fine. The store also has a good selection, just know what you need!

I suppose this place is good if it’s actual crafts that you’re into, but if you do fine arts like me, I suggest Blick.
I thought the prices were a bit exuberant for the limited supply of canvases, acrylics, watercolors, sketch books and pencils they had.
Upon looking around I was pretty impressed with the variety of woodens. I might have to come back and get a jewellery box to découpage.

This store is so much fun!
I had some serious childhood flashbacks wandering through this place; Lincoln Logs! Perler Beads! Silly Putty! Even more practical things, too: fabric, puff paints, wrapping paper, candles, goody bag stuffers, stamps, crayons, markers, t shirts, framing, melting chocolate, chocolate molds, photo albums, seasonal candy, ribbon, board games, baby/​bridal shower and bachelorette goodies. You name it, and basically A. C Moore’s got it!
Not only that, but the prices are great and coupons are abundant. If you don’t have your own coupon, the sales people are likely to dig them up for you. Their custom framing is really cheap, and surprisingly good quality.
What’s so great about this location is if by chance A C Moore doesn’t have what you need, you can probably find it at TJ Maxx, Bed Bath and Beyond, K Mart, or Christmas Tree Shop, all of which are right next door.
I love this place. Now go get crafty.

I’ve been watching a lot of HGTV lately. This has caused more consternation about the fact that the apt I’ve lived in for the past year is dreadfully boring. To spice up my space, I’ve been hunting for art and have been coming here for picture frames. It’s amazing what a cool frame and some matting boards can do!
Never pay the sticker price — there’s almost always some sort of sale going on (check their website) and if there is the highly unlikely chance that there isn’t a frames sale, print out the coupon from the Interweb or clip the coupon from the Sunday circular. I got some frames for 16″ x 20″ that are regularly $ 40-​something that rang up as $ 20-​something at the register. If your art is oddly, I mean, differently shaped, they do custom framing and also have 40−60% off coupons.
Now if only I was more motivated to wrap up my furniture and paint the walls something more interesting… but I’m in a rental for just a couple more years.

I’m all about the knitting, so that plus the fact it’s a quick walk from my house are the only reasons I shop here. The store itself is pretty typical, but the yarn is always well stocked and the sales people pleasant. I took the crocheting class, and the lady who teaches the class is very relaxed and easy going, and it’s a deal at $ 10 for two hours.

It’s cheap and has lots of art supplies. Winner.

As a woman in my 30’s I felt like it was my obligation to learn how to crochet in an effort to make my future Grandkids useless, ugly crap. A.C. Moore has been my mainstay.
Not only have I taught myself how to crochet with some of their books, they’ve inspired me to learn how to do other things. T-​shirts, Aprons, diaper cakes, scrap booking, and lotion making are just a few of many. I love that I can make a gift for under $ 10, fits right into my budget.
Only 3 stars huh? I’m an early shopper, I tend to stop here before my 9:30a gig. They supposedly open at 9a, but the doors frequently don’t open until 9:10a, and no one is at the register before 9:15. This offsets my shopping time, which means I spend less. Hmmm maybe they are doing me a favor?

Occasionally I get the urge to reinvigorate my creative side which has been atrophying thanks to years behind a desk. Enter AC Moore.
Each aisle inspires an «oohh…I could do that» remark. Paint a birdhouse? Why not? Oh yeah, I live in Brighton. Decorate a jewelry box? Sure… if I had some more jewelry. Paint some pictures for my house? Great. If I wouldn’t need to buy the paint, brushes, easel and canvas.
Inevitably I wind up in the yarn section or the bead section. They have an extensive selection of yarn. You could stroke, squeeze and rub against your face the balls of yarn forever. And so many different colors.
The beads are pretty cool too. Of course, they have a huge selection of plastic (yuck), but they also have some cute glass, wood and metal pieces that I have incorporated into my designs. And for cheap money too. A bag of findings for $ 3? Sold!
Like Amanda H. says, they have great sales and coupons too. So you can definitely score some major deals.
If you are feeling creative, get to AC Moore. If you want to feel inspired to feel creative, get to AC Moore.

Personally, I like A.C. Moore better than Michaels. They have a better selection of everything (especially yarn) they have better sales, they have better coupons and prices, and they are just better overall. They have a huge selection of yarn, and you can find some really awesome deals in the clearance section. I also like how they basically have a wall of free patterns. I like going through them and being able to grab patterns that interest me.
I’ve also noticed the people are nicer there. One time, they were having a great sale on a type of yarn that I wanted, but they didn’t have enough, and they reordered some for me and told me I would still get it at the sale price. Even though it took awhile I was ok with it since they told me I would get the sale price anyway.
I also really love that they sell fabric. They have a lot of cute designs that I love (I line the purse that I make so they don’t stretch) and I like buying the packs of 4 or 5 similar fabrics.
If I lived closer or if it was easier to get to or I had a car, I would come here more often. This is the reason why I knocked off a star.

THEIR YARN SECTION OWNS MY SOUL! I like their yarn selection better than Michaels and they carry some really different and interesting yarns. I do like the general craft stuff from Michaels better so its best I just avoid this place all together. I have too much yarn and I know I would blow my wad in there on more.

I love this place for 2 reasons.
1 — It is cheaper than Michaels (It doesn’t carry all of the same lines that Michaels has, but it has some Michaels, doesnt, and their prices are a little cheaper.
2 — It is pretty convenient for T people N of Boston. There is bus access from both Wellington and Sullivan. It is also handy when you need to shop other places too, because there is a Chrtistmas Tree Shop, Staples, KMart, TJ maxx, Bed Bath and Beyond, and a Sports Authority all in the same complex.
Actually, I will throw in a 3^rd for free. If you are nice to the sales people and you do not have your 40% off coupon, they will «find» one for you.
They also have some good classes. Not as many as Michaels, but call a day or two ahead, otherwise they may cancel due to lack of interest.
