Black Cat Rescue

I foster cats for Black Cat Rescue. Two of my fosters came from the MSPCA and were on the verge of being put down because they were deemed unadoptable. Both «Blackie» and «Janet» were too terrified in their cages to warm up to folks there to adopt. Blackie hid for the first 3 days in my home and Janet swatted at me every time I came near her.
Fortunately volunteers at the MSPCA called Black Cat Rescue who were able to save these wonderful kitties. Both cats turned out to be the sweetest, most loving cats that I have known when they finally realized that they were safe. Blackie and Janet were adopted by caring people. They can finally feel safe and loved in their new «forever» homes thanks to Black Cat Rescue.

My partner suggested one night (after a few drinks) that perhaps our little kitterman would like a little brother or sister to take care of and teach cat things to. Isn’t that how parenthood seems to go? Well, we reached back out to BCR, who were thrilled to help us out. The very same foster mama who had taken such good care of our cat was fostering a litter of trash kittens. As in, they were found eating trash in someone’s yard. Not just regular trash – gas station nachos! I knew then and there it was meant to be.
We got to go to Foster Mama’s house and visit the kittens – which, hello, kittens are awesome! She and her husband were so wonderful, and all the cats in the house were so clearly loved and taken care of well. One little grey kitten let my fiancé’ pick him up, and the foster mama said, «Wow, he’s never let anyone do that before!» So clearly, that was our little baby-​to-​be!
We had to wait a few weeks, for him to get big enough to get fixed, get shots, and move in with us. In the meantime, Foster Mama sent me wonderful updates on how our little man was doing. She also gave me valuable advice about kitten care and cat introductions – even our vet was impressed! We kept him and big cat separate for five days, before they took it upon themselves to get introduced. They’ve been inseparable ever since!
I love our little cat babies, and I’m so lucky to have worked with BCR twice now! Any kitty you adopt from them will be awesome (disclaimer: kitty may not be awesome, but it stands a really good chance).

This is an amazing organization looking out for cats that usually get looked over. I am partial to black cats because my family had the sweetest black cat and I was looking to adopt one of my own. The organization is organized, great with communication, and they care about matching the right cat with the right adopters. I didn’t end up adopting a cat from them because there wasn’t a good match at the time, but I had such a great experience with BCR that I had to write a review. Keep up the good work!

Black Cat Rescue is a wonderful organization. We sent an e-​mail wondering if they had any young cats or kittens available and received a very quick response from Jill. After quickly and thoroughly checking out our application, she matched us with a beautiful six month old kitten named Finn, who had been lovingly cared for in his foster home. He is a perfect addition to our family and we adore him. Black cats are the best, and Black Cat Rescue is a terrific agency. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a cat.

Black cat rescue helped us get our «smooshies.» We were looking for a second cat, and wanted to use a no-​kill rescue that was willing to come meet our existing cat. We wanted to make sure they understood his personality, so Jill came to our house, met Goosa and suggested we visit Tabitha. She didn’t mask the fact that Tabitha may need some extra work as she was shy, but would probably work well with a home that was willing to work with the cat and would probably integrate well with Goosa.
We met Tabitha at her foster home, and she was in fact nervous and shy, however true to Jill’s word she was very sweet and we could tell she just needed stability and love. We adopted her and are very happy we did. Tabitha is a wonderful cat, she’s funny, energetic, and keeps Goosa on his toes. She loves her people, especially when they exercise. It makes us incredibly sad to think such a happy, funny cat that absolutely blossomed into a great cat would have been put down in a shelter because she was shy.

This is a fantastic cat rescue organization. They take care to learn a lot about you to ensure you’ll be a good caretaker for their cats, and to ensure they make a good match. I adopted my cat through them and she is the best cat in the world — everyone loves her! I recommend black cat rescue to anyone I know looking to adopt a cat!

I just adopted a cat from them, and the whole experience was great. I worked with 2 women who work there, and both were extremely helpful, informative, and flexible. I also love the fact that the cats are in foster homes because you feel like they are really being cared for, and also getting used to «normal» life at home.
I would definitely recommend adopting from Black Cat Rescue!
