Outstanding! A really homey environment, a husband and wife team and the food is so delicious! We ordered the eggplant Rollatinis and other delicious entrees — everything was so amazing! If felt like home!

WOW! The entire meal was incredible. We had 7:30pm reservations, parking was easy and right behind the building. The place was packed but it made it more cozy. It didn’t feel like a restaurant, it felt like we were eating dinner in a house(in a good way, not your typical restaurant where you hear cooks yelling and waiters flying by you ever few seconds). We started with the bruschetta — a MUST. It was the best I have ever had and was like a thick garlic bread with fresh garlic, basil and mozzarella. Just amazing. We also had the buffalo mozzarella appetizer too which was so incredibly fresh. We had the ravioli and the penne in the bolognese sauce with peas(I forget the exact name). The ravioli is the best I have ever had — the sauce is amazing and the inside of the ravioli is the freshest, fluffiest ricotta I have ever had, seriously. The penne bolognese was HUGE! It was so delicious and the beef was so fresh. I cannot stress enough how fresh all the food was — nothing sat under a lamp, it came out piping hot. For dessert we had coffees and the neopolitan(?) which was also light and delicious. All in all, it was the best Italian food I have ever had, can’t wait to go back!

We come to this restaurant for a couple of years now and we keep coming back for the delicious food and wonderful hospitality. The owners are always welcoming. The food is beautifully prepared and delicious. And, the atmosphere is just fantastic. We love when Filippo plays the piano and serenades the guests at the end of the night. We strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates wonderful Italian food.

We have coming to Filippo’s for a couple of years. Each time, it has been a wonderful dining experience. The food is fantastic; the service is great. The owners treat us like family. The beef stew, pork scallopine, and pretty much everything else are to die for. I would give it 6 stars if that is possible.

Welcomed at the door by an owner, promptly seated. Order taken by other owner, yes a husband wife operation. The appetizers were great as week as our meals. Prices were reasonable and yes a BYOB. Did not have dessert but will try on our next visit. Street parking and lot in back of restaurant.

Our dinner was delicious. The bruschetta as an appetizer was very well prepared. We weren’t to crazy about the special of Calamari Eggs but you live and learn. The staff and owners were extremely nice and helpful in answering our questions and suggesting dishes. Overall it was an awesome dining experience. Would absolutely come back.

Went to Da Filippo’s last night. the whole experience was wonderful from beginning to end! The owner and his wife greeted us like we were old friends. the food was amazing — bruschetta is a must! the food was great and the dessert was even better. The owner serenaded us on the piano with a truly wonderful and soothing voice. When we left, the owners said goodbyes to us like we’ve known each other for ages. Great experience, one that i will definitely do again!

Food was excellent. We opted for the bruschetta instead of regular bread, definitely worth it. The mozzarella and pepper appetizer was good, but next time will try another appetizer. My husband and I split the pasta risotto with truffle oil, an absolute must. For our entrees I ordered the veal and he the flounder, we both loved our dishes. I feel like you can’t go wrong with anything off the menu. High quality and made with love. Not to mention, the owners wife served us and was so personable. We felt like we were part of the family! Absolutely will return!!! And I mean c’mon byob!!!

Da Filippo’s defines what comes from the deep involvement and personal touch of restaurant owners. Attentive staff and end to end oversight from owner Patty. Tremendously fresh food creatively prepared. And although their BYO wine/beer policy might prove problematic to some, with prior knowledge it’s an opportunity to drink some great self selected beverages at a fraction of what other restaurants charge. Bravo Da Filippo’s.

The meal we had tonight was amazing. We had the sampler“lack of a better word” for the 3 of us. We said after each course that was amazing and after the fish and shrimp plate that could have been the best piece of fish we have ever eaten. The owners served you and even played the piano for another customer and sang Happy Birthday.

One of the great true Italian restaurants in the area. I had a wonderful meal here with my wife. We were greeted very warmly at the door by the chef’s wife, and who also took our order. Every dish was explained carefully and she very patiently answered all of our questions. The food was superb. You can really tell that there is a trained Italian chef in the kitchen. Everything was beautifully prepared. There are some interesting specials and entrees on the menu. You won’t find the typical dishes that you would at more Italian-American places(chicken parms, chicken murphy, etc.). Try one of the exquisite pasta dishes.

Fantastic little Italian restaurant in Somerville. Our food was excellent, but what really made our dining experience special was the warm welcome from D’Filippo and his wife. They both went out of their way to make us feel as though we were guests in their home. Really can’t stress how terrific our experience was here… We were even witness to an impromptu performance from D’Filippo on the piano. I honestly can’t wait for my next job around here just so I can stop in and eat another fantastic home cooked meal

We went in for lunch. The place was very quiet. We were greeted by the owner and received a very friendly service. Everything we had, starting from the appetizers to orange peel flavored cannolis was very good. Sea food pasta tasted exceptionally well. Genuine Sicilian food.

Went here for my birthday. Warmly greeted by da Filipinos wife. Very attentive and friendly. Cute dining room with a burning fireplace. Very nice for a cold February night! Menu is limited… that’s not a bad thing. Though there wasn’t much of a choice for pasta dishes and nothing really«special». Main entrees were good… I had the veal with the Gorgonzola cheese. It was good but a very small portion. Another person in our party had the braised chicken which had a delicious sauce but again… small portions. The cod in parchment was good… perfect if you are watching calories… well seasoned and beautiful veggies. My favorite were the Appys… the whiting fillet was out standing! Would go back just for that! Was a nice evening and the food was good… just not memorable. We thought it was rather pricey for the small portions we received.

This is a very special place, the décor is very welcoming and so is the staff. This was my second time at Da’filippo’s and it was better than the first. Filippo’s wife does a great job of working the dining room to make sure that all guests are comfortable and informed of the evening’s specials. First time here was with my wife and we truly enjoyed it. The second time was yesterday with my wife and two other couples and all six of us really enjoyed the food, ambience and wonderful staff. We love this place

I hate giving 5 stars, since it means everything went right. I am on this low carb diet now and our friends who we love, selected this place none of us ever heard of. But, it would not matter where we ate, because we so welcomed this opportnuity to get together again. It is BYOB, and since we were on our diets, we did not bring any wines but our friends brought both Champagne and a 2006 Brunello… so much for the ‘no drinking’. Cannot recall the Champagne but the Brunello was especially nice and open. The service here is as heart warmingly genuine as you would expect your relatives to bestow upon you. The location, is actually in Somerville, but a few blocks past the town square and in the middle of semi residential area among a few store fronts. I have passed it for 20+ years and never saw it or heard of it before. They actually have been there over 25 years I think. The first course was their Bruschetta, with garlic, tomatoes and parmegiano reggiano cheese, perfect compliment with Champagne and enough for 4 of us. Next we had house salads, fresh and tasty. My wife and I had wild caught cod fish fillet dressed with rosemary, tomatoes, onions, zucchine and extra virgin olive oil wrapped in parchment paper and baked… my wife is not a cod eater and due to our ‘diet’, we ate fish but wanted pasta!!! We painfully declined amazing deserts, had nice coffee and headed out, but before we left, the chef/owner played the piano and sang beautiful Italian songs which ended our lovely reunion and great dinner in this wonderfully happy family run business that nailed it on every aspect of our visit. Cannot wait to get to my goal weight so I can go back and eat pasta and desert! Please do not tell too many people, it is a very lovely special place… and prices were very reasonable.
