Unrealistically delicious! Seriously, this place is addicting! — Ask for the picanha(«pee-con-ya») from the bbq

Probably the best place I’ve tried so far. Everything is perfectly seasoned and self served besides the meats. The location is really random and sort of intimidating but I promise you everyone there is friendly and always there help you out. :) Highly recommend this place!

Great price, decent offering. One of those hole-in-the wall kind of joints… which I always love. :-)

My boyfriend and I decided to come here for a quick dinner before a movie. We were very pleasantly surprised by the variety, quality, and taste of the meat. The sides were good, but nothing really to rave about. The price was very fair as well. My only complaint would be that the restaurant did not offer us tap water with our meals. We were pretty thirsty after all that BBQ and were glued to the water fountain when we eventually got to the theater.

Self Serve hot and ready food! For $ 7.59/pound(meat & side items) you will be surprised at how much you can fill your plate. If you just want meat it is $ 9.00/pound. You have the option of sitting down to eat there or have it all to go. So, you come in and get whatever side dishes you like onto your plate then go to the meat section to request specific meats. Very simple! This spot is really casual, nothing fancy. Every day is different, today there was some salad and fruits, a few varieties of rice(plain, mixed) and beans(black, kidney). Once you tell the worker what meat you would like, they will get it out of the oven and slice it then give it to you(I appreciated how the person sliced off the fat before he gave me the meat). OK, now you just weigh your food, get a drink maybe?(passion fruit was really good) pay, then enjoy your delicious meal! There is television(was in spanish when I came in), it’s a nice addition, but I was too busy scarfing down my food. I came in an hour before closing and I noticed the beef brisket I got was a bit dry. The winning meat today was Beef Ribs and Top Sirloin. Once you’re done with your meal, you can just leave it there and someone will come and clean your table. There is street parking available, I came at night so there was no parking problems. I however will be coming back to this location during the day. I’m pretty sure I can get a more amazing experience at this spot if I come earlier. Some of my meat was dry and it is probably because it was a late night batch. If you are into BBQ beef/chicken/pork/lamb COMEHERE! It is that good. By the way! There are desserts here too! Mostly mousse, but they also have flan and rice pudding. I got a rice pudding to go, and it was good! Definitely coming back to this spot again.

Walked in to load up a plate at the Buffett as a roach crawled along the counter. No excuse for something like that.

Came in here on a whim, really glad I did. The buffet style is really convenient, everything was delicious. I was so impressed with the amount of choice for the BBQ. It looked like at least 15 big skewers were there, maybe more. I realize some might be doubles, but still super impressive. I tried the lamb from the BBQ skewer, and a whole bunch of things from the buffet, all of which were delicious. The women at the registers were very nice. Lots of tables, small though. It’s super casual, probably wouldn’t take a date here.

Great variety of home cooked brazilian food. Prices are fair, they weigh by the pound so I try to watch it with the wet foods lol. My husband and I come here often when we are trying to get a late bite to eat because they are open rather later than most places. Overall awesome food for decent prices! Street/meter parking surprisingly never have a problem finding a spot!

I love this joint– there meat is awesome, Chicken in Bacon is delicious, Sausage, Pork… everything is good– i bet even the chicken hearts are great, but im not a fan of organ meat. My only ‘beefs’(pun intended) are that they cover the meat with salt after they cut it, so if you want the same thing as they person/people in front of you– yours is covered in course salt. Usually they have multiple racks of beef, but not always. To be clear, the salt is awesome if it has time to roast, but when it is freshly put on it is gross. Also, if you come later, say within an 1.5 hours of closing, everything becomes very limited– from buffet dishes to the actual bbq and the temperatures of the meat. My advice– get their plenty of time before closing and try to make sure if there are people ahead of you that you take note of what they are getting and ask them not to cover it in salt if you want the same thing.

One of the best and most affordable eateries in the Boston area. The salads are fresh, the meat is tender, and the rice and pasta are tasty! Try the Chicken BBQ along with fried plantains; what a great mix. The service people are friendly and welcoming. What you need to do is to fill your plate, weigh it, and pay per weight. pretty simple huh?

I suppose when you’re the only one in the restaurant not speaking Portuguese… It was a Friday night and I was visiting a friend nearby. I proposed this location because I didn’t want to try anything across over at Assembly Square. Those soulless chain gangs… Gauchao is a typical low-key Brazilian bbq in terms of organization. You self-serve entrees, salad, and then you get meat served by a chef manning the grill. After that, your plate is weighed at the cash register. I plated a little bit of salad and fried fish. My main portion of the plate consisted of medium rare top sirloin and bacon-wrapped chicken. The top sirloin was quite good, with it not being too salty. The beef was tender and delicious. The chicken was okay, though a bit dry, which I kinda do expect from chicken at a restaurant. The fried fish wasn’t too bad, though you probably want to save weight for more beef. There are a variety of Brazilian entrees and sides(like rice, beans, stews), but I’m sure you’re a pro and only go for the grilled meats. Service was friendly and considerate. The lady at the counter brought me my guarana instead of me having to hold a plate while trying to get one out of the fridge. Price per pound is a good value.

Gauchao’s is the definition of a bomb hole in the wall. If you walk in and hear nothing but Portuguese, you’re in the right place. It’s as authentic of a Brazilian BBQ place as you can get. I love coming here to get take-out, and it’s a convenient place to stop by for a quick yet hearty lunch/dinner. First, pick up your to-go or for-here plate then fill up on all the sides you want. At the end of the counter is the guy that will hold the key to your heart(aka gate keeper to all of the amazing meats cooking in the racked oven). My favorites are the chicken and the pork sausage. Some people think I’m crazy for getting anything but beef cuts because their sirloin is also so amazing, but the flavor on the chicken and sausage just get me every time. Everything is charred and delicious. Pay by the pound makes the pricing easy and extremely reasonable it keeps me coming back pretty much weekly. When comparing to fancy places like Fogo de Chao, the quality at the upscale places is a little better, but for the price Gauchao’s is really, really hard to beat. Don’t forget to grab a Guarana soda and add lots of Molho de Pimenta hot sauce to complete the experience.

If you require some protein ASAP, go here. Absolutely phenomenal cuts of meat. Great variety, and the meats aren’t too salty(which is, unfortunately, a common shortcoming of other Brazilian places such as Oasis). I recommend: Top Sirloin: Juicy, can choose well-done or medium rare. Chicken Bacon: Chicken pieces(I think thigh) wrapped in bacon. Chicken hearts: My personal favorite, I really like the texture. In addition to the fresh meats, there’s a salad bar with some greens, and some hot stews which I don’t usually get. You pay by weight, so I usually just go for the vegetables and meat. Try some of the desserts as well, I’ve had one of them(Passionfruit mousse), and was not disappointed. There are TVs but they are all in Portuguese, which is pretty cool.

This place was a solid 3 stars for me. I guess because we have so many Brazilian places in the Marlboro/Hudson/Framingham area I am use to these and not easily impressed. I have been here twice now — once during on time — which I highly recommend for any buffet and another during a not so busy time(around 2PM). The food was really good both times but the second time you could definitely taste that the meat had been sitting on the spicket longer than I would prefer. They had the usual buffet sides. 2 different rice options, 2 different bean options, salad fixings, potato and chicken salad(salpicao), a few vegetable options, a chicken and corn lasagna, and a couple self serve meat dishes. The BBQ meat is why you come here… they had lots of options. Load up your plate and weigh it before going back to your table. Overall the food was good and cheap. I didn’t deduct any points for this but I think management should really take control if a homeless person is in their restaurant going table to table asking for money(I am not cruel hearted and do think he deserved a good meal but I do not think it is all appropriate in this setting to be asking). This completely ruined the dining experience for me.

Very cheap, affordable, and tasty Brazilian BBQ! Outside is a bit sketchy and even has bars on the door, but once I tasted the food, I forgot about my surroundings. Pay by weight! Self serve of sides such as black/pinto beans, rice, plantains, fries, lettuce, salsa. At the end of the line, there is a guy who cuts fresh meats(chicken sausage, chicken heart, different cuts of beef, bacon wrapped chicken). Piled up the plate coming out to about $ 20 for 2. The salsa was fresh with a little spice which went well with the meat. All the meats were tasty, but my favorites were the brisket and bacon. Bacon wrapped chicken was so juicy and flavorful. By far my favorite of all the meats I tried. Passionfruit Mousse: light and fluffy with just the right amount of passionfruit. Very tasty and not too sweet and only $ 2!

This place is amazing!!! It’s delicious and so affordable($ 20 for two people, including drinks, ate till we couldn’t anymore and enough to take home too). To be honest I was pretty nervous when I walked in, despite the glowing Unilocal reviews. It’s a small place, not fine dining at all, you can’t see where the bbq meats are and the TVs are playing Portuguese channels. I was confused as to what to do when I came in but thankfully the woman behind the counter was very friendly and helpful — choose a plate or styrofoam(if you’re taking to go), go through the buffet for veggies, pasta, rice, salad, stew, roasted plantain, etc. At the end of the buffet counter, tell the server which meats you’d like. This requires having prior knowledge of the meat options, which I didn’t. I asked and I was given a brief explanation, but they have a lot of options, including pork, lamb, bacon wrapped chicken, various cuts of beef, like brisket, a nice, fatty cut, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Once you have enough meat on your plate to satisfy your most carnivorous desires, weigh your plate on the scale behind you. The woman at the cash register will ring you up. I highly recommend one of the fresh juices they have behind the counter to go with the meal; I had the maracuja juice and I LOVED it. *tip: although you’re getting Brazilian BBQ and you’re probably thinking«MEATMEATMEAT» make sure to get something green on your plate from the buffet. Meat is dense and you’ll end up with a tummy ache if you don’t get some kind of vegetable to relieve your stomach. Also, this restaurant does the vegetables really well, so don’t miss out! Definitely go here! It’s authentic, affordable, and very filling.

THISPLACEISAWESOME. What a great value! The meat is of awesome quality and cooked very well. There was also a good variety of sides. Casual and relaxed dining area. I wasn’t happy that I had to pay for water(there was no free drink option), but the actual food was so reasonably priced that I still consider this place to be a good value.
