Rincón Mexicano

Fantastic, authentic Mexican food, for a great price. The service was not so great, but eh, who cares.

I changed my mind and gave this place five stars. It’s a little family eat in/​take out place, and as far as the food goes. It’s perfect. And to make it clear from another review where this place is… it’s on Broadway in Somerville, MA, not «Charleston» or Charlestown, which is the next town over.

Do yourself a favor and order the carne asada torta with Oaxacan cheese. Wonderful homemade chips and salsa. Unbeatable prices.

Great little hole in the wall right around the corner from where I live. In the summer they have 1 – 2 tables outside. Seat yourself, but I use it mostly for take out.
Limited selection, but it is so good! And the pricing is great! Definitely on the cheaper side!
I am a fan of their nachos. They are really great about making your order perfect for you, easily able to add or remove ingredients. Everything is made fresh and hot to order.

First discovered this jewel after reading several reviews. We were looking for a place to possibly cater a surprise party (off-​premises), so I sent the ‘forward team’ ahead to check it out. Got great reviews from them, so my wife and I made the trip down (we’re from Maine) to check it out ourselves. Excellent lunch, so I set out to plan a surprise party for 30 people. Lorenzo (the owner) was so pleasant and helpful planning the menu, which had to include fish tacos (one of our daughter’s favorites).
Lorenzo was great at communicating with me, and showed up right as planned. While we were busy setting up decorations, he set up his ‘kitchen ’ and the serving station. Beautifully.
He started us off (as planned) with fantastic guacamole, which he made on-​site, pico de gallo, salsa and tortilla chips.
Then came the trays of beautifully presented nachos, one beef, and one vegetarian. The beef nachos were probably the best I’ve ever enjoyed. He skimped on — nothing! Oh-​so-​good…
For dinner, we had a buffet taco bar with carnitas, beef, chicken, and a vegetarian option. Lorenzo kept creating plate after plate of extraordinary (and again, beautifully-​presented) fish tacos, also offering potato & cheese flautas (OMG), and two different types of quesadillas, along with vegetarian rice and black beans. In addition to all the usual ‘additions’, Lorenzo had an exquisite salsa verde. Sooo good!
He kept the area filled with fresh food, kept it all immaculate, and was every bit a professional.
In short, his food, his artistry, and his professionalism were top notch. Looking forward to going back to the restaurant, and I offer the highest recommendation for their catering!

They are very consistent here. I usually order the beef tongue tacos and they are delicious every time. Great friendly and quick service as well. I would highly recommend Rincon to anyone looking for an inexpensive quick meal.

It’s authentic, yeah. But they got ¾ orders wrong. We tried to get one order fixed and it was a fiasco. The server didn’t understand what we were trying to get changed with our order and we ended up just eating the food we got.

I am no expert on Mexican food (I am about as Irish looking as they come) but I loved this place. We found it on Unilocal when we were working in Somerville and looking for a place for a quick lunch. I had the Salad with the chicken on it and also sampled some of my Buddy’s plate. My buddy grew up in Southern Cal and is of Mexican Heritage, he gave it 2 thumbs up too. It was also fast and cheap, I cannot remember the exact price but the total was under $ 15 for both of us.

The outside looks cute and has some character. The inside is very simple and small. But, don’t be discouraged! The food was great and is good quality. It seems pretty authentic and not «cheap» quality like chain, fast-​food Mexican restaurants. Definitely good for take-​out and casual dinner!

You won’t find a more delicious and reasonably priced Mexican restaurant in the Greater Boston Area than Rincon Mexicano. The cow-​head taco had a perfectly marinated meat, the Pescado Frito was perfectly seasoned and simultaneously juicy and crunchy, and the Molcajete contained a perfect balance of vegetables (including cactus), meats (including shrimp), and stringy Oaxaca cheese. The Molcajete’s sauce is something you’ll want to spoon out and not waste after you finish your meal! On top of that, the food was well presented, and the service was excellent. In short, because of the fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned food, solid service, and low costs, this hole in the wall is a gem worth exploring! Let’s prevent this «Taste from a Little Corner of Home» from being gentrified!

First, I must say that this place is pretty authentic in flavor which is particularly exciting in the Boston area where Mexican food is usually considered Chipotle or Boloco. Tucked away on this small street in Charleston, MA, Rincon Mexicano is a cozy hole in the wall with a super friendly waitress.
In terms of the food though, the guacamole, while fresh, is a bit on the salty side. We also ordered the tripe tacos and instead of tripe, we were served intestine that wasn’t really cleaned. On the positive side, the beef tongue tacos were quite tender and I really enjoyed the chewiness and toastedness of the taco shell.

Delicious lunch. I tried this tiny restaurant, about the size of a sub shop, on the recommendation of a friend. I went today for lunch and was not disappointed. I had the Carnitas Torta… it was huge. I could only eat half and took the other half home. Tender pork, big, thick slices of avocado, black beans and red onions. (I opted to leave the jalapenos off this time). The roll was incredibly delicious, and It was warm when served. I didn’t realize it, because it wasn’t listed on the menu (or I just didn’t see it) but it came with french fries. Even the fries were fantastic. Skin on, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside… I almost asked what they fried them in because i don’t think it was just regular old vegetable oil. I’d be surprised if they weren’t home made.
You wouldn’t want to plan a dinner out with more than three other people, and again, there are only 5 or six tables, but my lunch was a real treat. Parking is a pain on Broadway but it’s worth circling the block once or twice.

Great, authentic food. Friendly service and ambiance. Fresh ingredients. This is what Mexican food should be like, not like those other faker restaurants in the area. This is the real deal for sure.

Excellent guac made in house — perfectly spicy and delicious. I could eat a LOT of that. The fish tacos were good, the salsa was awesome. Only 4 starts because the meat in the torta was a big tough/​chewy. I would definitely go again because I need to try their regular tacos to see if they are better than the place down the street.

Love this place! The people are so nice and the food is… well…, so Mexican! I love their fish tacos. The staff is extremely pleasant and eager to please. They’re a welcome addition to Somerville. Now go give ‘em your business.

Great food, fast service, nice staff. I happened to come here today for the first time and found they have $ 1 tacos on Tuesdays. Even without that though, the prices are great.

Definitely order the delicious homemade guacamole. This restaurant is about the size of a sub shop, so don’t think you are going to go with a huge group of people. I ordered Carne asada, which was good, but didn’t blow me out of my seat. My taco on the other hand, was authentic with delicious flavor. The place was very clean and the server was friendly. No alcohol is served. 2 meals, 2 drinks, guacamole, and a taco, $ 23!

Amazing fresh guacamole made to order. A generous portion for a good price. I had the enchiladas, my wife had the veggie burrito, which was huge. Then kind of place you could easily walk by as it only has 4 tables and a small counter. Thank you Unilocal for leading us here. Would love to sample more of their menu.

Not the best place to sit down if you are looking for a fine dining– but great for a fast meal.

Came here for the East Broadway Foodie Crawl – all I could eat was the guac which was pretty good but I wanted more lime. I love lime too much, so it’s probably good to everyone else’s wants.
My friend loved everything he got and listed this as one of his top 3 favorite places.

Tried to come here a month ago but the parking situation was a disaster given the construction going on. After eating the better-​than-​authentic food here today, I regret not parking half on the sidewalk and half in a handicapped space to have tried it sooner.
Super friendly waiter/​counter guy, great tortillas and homemade salsa to start. Flautas were crispy outside, soft and flavorful inside, topped with just the right amount of greens and cheese. Fish tacos (x3) were fresh, crunchy and lightly seasoned as to not overwhelm the fish – basically better than the ones I recently had in Tulum. I wanted to order a flan to go, but the talented and amiable chef just started cooking them… in house. WTF…
Going back this weekend…
