Sir’s Sitters

AnnaKatherine and Dan are my first petsitters since moving to Massachusetts, and they are, by far, the best out of all the previous ones I have had! I judge that not just by how nice and professional they are, how prompt they are with their message and (high quality) picture updates, their reasonable rates, but MOST importantly how happy my cat is when I get home.
The usual scene when I get home after traveling: loud and persistent meowing I can hear from downstairs, knocked over items, clumps of fur coming off when I pet my cat, etc. I was shocked when, even after a 10-​day trip (the longest I dare to be gone for), I came home to my cat nonchalantly greeting me after a nap on the couch.
Something I also liked about AnnaKatherine and Dan is that they know cats very very well because they have some of their own. Sometimes even the biggest animal lover doesn’t know how to engage a cat which I suspect was the problem with past pet sitters.

I recently moved to Cambridge and knowing that I’d have to travel a fair bit for work, set out to find someone to look after my cat. Based on the positive reviews here, I sent an email to Sir’s Sitters and heard back from Dan very quickly. He and AnnaKatherine were able to come by my place that same week to meet me and my cat. They’re both lovely people, very professional, and clearly animal lovers. I felt very comfortable having them take care of my little guy, and after 3 visits, I can honestly say they really are wonderful. I look forward to the daily email updates when I’m away. The photographs Dan includes are absolutely gorgeous. If you live in the area and are looking for a cat sitter, I’d recommend Sir’s Sitters without reservation.

tl;dr: AnnaKatherine & Dan are so great that I almost don’t want to tell you how great they are. I’ve had some unpleasant experiences with other cat sitters, but Sir’s Sitters is the kind of operation I would run were I to start doing professional cat sitting myself: They’re personable, professional, communicative, and clearly «get» cats (and cat people). I’m really glad we found them. :)
In long form:
I travel a lot, & often on short notice – which, ever since my old cat sitter retired, has meant a lot of scrambling to make sure my cats are cared for while I’m gone. On the one hand, some of my cat-​owning friends will help out; they do a great job, but after a while I start to feel like a jerk for begging cat favors Yet Again. On the other hand, there are professional cat sitters… but lord almighty, not all «professional» cat sitters are very professional. [I’m resisting the urge to Go On about other people in this Sir’s review, but trust me: I’ve got jaw-​dropping horror stories for days.] It got so bad that, at one point, I actually considered starting a business called «Detail-​Oriented Cat Sitters,» because I figured my own difficulty in finding same (esp without several months’ advance notice) must mean that demand is still outstripping supply in the Cambridge/​Somerville area.
But then! Enter Sir’s Sitters – or, «AnnaKatherine & Dan do a great job, so now I don’t feel like I have to.» I’ll walk you through my recent experience with them:
First, I checked out the Unilocal reviews; then, I checked out the website. If you are a cat person *at all,* you need to visit the website – Sir’s had me at their «about» page, which includes loving descriptions even of the deceased members of their feline family. If you had any doubt, rest assured: AnnaKatherine & Dan are Grade-​A Cat People.
Even though I only called ~10 days ahead, AnnaKatherine & Dan were able to fit me in for a consultation. They came over, met my cats, gave me an impeccably organized folder of forms, and graciously listened to who-​knows-​how-​many rambling, under-​caffeinated cat stories. Their prices are super-​reasonable, the policy documents are both clear and fair, and the intake form asks all the right questions.
While I was gone, Sir’s sent daily updates. These updates had some wonderful photos attached, but even better: The text made it clear that AnnaKatherine & Dan were really spending time getting to know my cats. Example: My cat Juno is a post-​feral rescue critter, and AnnaKatherine wrote one day that, while Juno was letting AK & Dan pet her, she seemed more to be tolerating the experience than enjoying it. That’s a 100%-accurate description of how Juno is with new people (or even how she was with me for the first year!), and it stands in sharp contrast to the «feel-​good but clearly BS» reports that I’ve gotten from past sitters. (E.g., from summer of 2014, «Juno even crawled into my lap!” – & I’m just like, dude, have you *met* my cat? She was trapped two months ago. She does not do laps. :P)
When I came home, everything was just as I’d left it (save for a small stack of collected mail and packages that had been brought in). The cats had water; they still had a little food from the day before; the litterboxes had been maintained. There was no litter scattered on the floor, and no litter clumps left to ferment in the kitchen garbage can. Per usual, the cat who punishes me for leaving her ran to hide, and the other two clamored for attention. And, importantly, the place *smelled* right – if you’ve ever come home after bad cat sitting and found your home NOT smelling right, you know how very, very critical this is.
In summary: Not only would I use Sir’s Sitters again, but I’ve also already booked them for two more trips this month. Though, now that I’ve written this, probably I should write to book them for my foreseeable January/​February/​March trips, too!

When I moved to Cambridge, my first concern was, of course, finding a pet sitter. These are truly the best cat sitters I’ve ever found in any city I’ve lived. Dan and AnnaKatherine have been looking after my beloved cat for several months now. I travel frequently, and they are flexible, responsive, and most important, send me lots of updates (with great pictures). They don’t just feed my cat; they make sure he is healthy and safe and spent a lot of time playing with him. For the first time, I can travel without worrying about my cat. When I come back, he looks happy (and I think he misses them!).

All the glowing recommendations you read about Sir’s Sitters are true! I just moved to the Cambridge area and was in need of someone to take care of my cat over Thanksgiving break. A lot of the cat sitting services in the area were already booked up and I was so thankful when AnnaKatherine and Dan came to my rescue. They were very responsive, professional and friendly. The consultation was great and they asked all the necessary questions. They also provided daily updates with beautiful pictures as well. They took very good care of my cat and I am very pleased with their service. I’m definitely going to be a repeat customer!

We are thrilled with the service we received from Sir’s Sitters! Our previous pet sitter moved away and we stumbled upon Sir’s while looking for a replacement to watch our two somewhat high-​maintenance cats for an upcoming trip. Dan and Anna Katherine definitely take their job seriously — they provided daily updates (with pictures!) and clearly spent time making our cats feel comfortable. They masterfully handled our very skittish cat and made her feel safe and confident enough to come out during visits — something our previous sitter never accomplished. I think our cats enjoyed their time with Dan and Anna Katherine so much that they seemed disappointed when we returned! It’s such a pleasure to be able to leave town and know our furry family members are in such capable and caring hands.

Anna Katherine and Dan started watching our sweet cat last summer when we moved to the area. This spring, our cat got very sick and we did not want to leave her home alone. Sir’s Sitters came over and spent so much time with her, and even sent beautiful photos while we were at work. Unfortunately, our cat passed away a few days later, but Anna Katherine kept in touch and was there for us during the entire process of losing our girl. Now, we have adopted another kitty, and he is so relaxed when we get home from our travels! Thanks for all you do! I highly recommend AK, Dan, and Sir’s Sitters.

Sir’s Sitters is amazing.
We had trouble finding someone to watch our cat during our 2 week vacation at the beginning of August. We decided to go with Sir’s Sitters due to the raves on Unilocal,and due to the fact that they were super responsive and low pressure when we were setting up the initial consultation over email.
The initial consultation was fantastic. Dan and AnnaKatherine were friendly, knowledgeable, and crazy about cats! They have cats of their own, so they are well versed in the many personalities and behaviors of cats, and therefore they were able to ask questions that I wouldn’t have thought of (e.g. where are his favorite hiding spots?).
What really helps Sir’s Sitter stand out is the exceptional care they provide while you are out of town. Our cat became ill on the second day we were away. Dan noticed that there was an awful lot of traffic to the litter box, and so he sat with him for a long while to see if everything was okay. He then called me to talk about next steps for getting my little guy better.
Dan and AnnaKatherine took him to the vet, increased visitations in order to provide medicine, brought over special cat food to feed him, and treated him with love and kindness. They helped ease some of the stress and worry I had being away from my furry friend while he was feeling unwell.
They are exceptional!

If you are looking for cat sitters that you can trust so you aren’t plagued by kitty worries while away from home then Sir’s Sitter are the folks for you.
They took care of our two cats while we were away for 10 days and during this time we received daily updates and pictures. During the initial consultation they asked all of the questions necessary for someone to be prepared in case of an emergency.

AnnaKatherine and Dan have watched our cat Lucy twice, once during a week-​long trip and once during a short trip, and we have been very happy with their services. It is clear that they really enjoy caring for cats, and in addition to the basics (food, water, litter), they give our attention-​starved kitty lots of pets and playtime. Sir’s Sitters is different from other services in the area because they have so much experience with cats, as opposed to dog walkers that will also cat sit.
We receive text and picture messages from Sir’s Sitters during each visit, which eases my mind and lets me enjoy our vacation without worrying about how our cat is doing. We took one of our trips when there was a ton of snow and it was very difficult to get around the city — AnnaKatherine and Dan still made it to our apartment each day as promised.
We are very happy to have found such reliable and friendly cat sitters and plan on using them for all of our needs in the future. I highly recommend Sir’s Sitters!

Sir’s Sitters were friendly, communicative, and flexible. They provided a great first-​time experience with a professional pet sitter.
We had trouble finding friends to take care of our four year old cat for a vacation over Father’s Day weekend, and decided to try a professional sitter. AK and Dan were able to meet with us on short notice, and we were impressed by their professionalism, attention to detail, and experience as «cat people».
Over our six day trip, we received daily updates on how things were going, and they were very responsive to follow up questions. We even extended the visit time mid trip, since some extra socialization was needed. When we got home, our cat was happy and everything was in good order.
Overall, we were delighted by our experience with Sir’s, and plan on using them in the future. The bottom line is that they took a lot of stress out of our vacation!
