Spoke with the owner today, he was a very cool guy. Knew his stuff. As for the store, it’s small but packed with good stuff.
I recommend checking this place out.

The Collector is a hidden gem. This is a second hoorah for this store. I’m always amazed at the variety and quality of items in this shop. The owner, Rex, finds both unique and trendy pieces. He carries mostly mid-​century modern furniture and décor which happens to be very popular right now. The items are very reasonably priced — especially compared to similar stores closer to the city.
One of my favorite weekend activities is to go to Sunday brunch at the Highland Kitchen (which is kick ass btw) and then stroll over to The Collector to see what’s new. I’ve purchased a print and a vintage turkish rug from there so far. My husband and I will be moving soon and I can’t wait to visit the collector after we settle in so I can buy some funky forever pieces for our new home.

Here’s the deal, I was looking for a nice chair for my apartment. I was interested in finding something vintage and a little bit different. Ikea was my first thought, but decided to support a local business and buy a quality piece.
The gentlemen behind the counter was very helpful and knowledgeable, not pushy at all. I found a great plycraft lounge chair for about half the price as internet listings. If you’re in the market for furniture, you’d be silly not to stop by!

This place was a great find! I bought a set of four mahogany chairs, and Rex helped me reupholster them for a very reasonable fee – he even picked the fabric up from my house and delivered the chairs himself. A great experience at about average cost. I would highly recommend the Collector.

As an interior designer, I was really excited to have spotted this shop while driving by one day. I immediately pulled over to check it out, and I was not disappointed. The owner, Rex, has a great eye for unique quality pieces, and he is quite knowledgeable about his merchandise. On top of it all, everything seems really reasonably priced. I found a fantastic mirror and a set of nesting tables to purchase my first visit, and I will certainly be putting this shop on my list of «go to» places for the future.

There are only a few local shops that specialize in mid-​century furniture and unique decorating items, which makes it hard to actually find what you are looking for without resorting to buying online or from a name brand furniture company.
At The Collector you will be amazed by the massive selection of tables, lamps, desks, couches, prints, and more. Make this your first stop on your next decorating adventure. Rex — the owner — is GREAT. Share you ideas, thoughts and desires and let him share his deep knowledge and inventory.
While it’s not the main aspect of his business, he also has an amazing re-​upholstery source and helped me update a set of mid-​century dining room chairs. The pricing made me ever wonder why I ever stepped foot in Zimman’s.

Went to The Collector during my last visit to Boston. Awesome collection, fantastic end tables varying in style all great quality. Also, very convenient parking for the area. Highly recommend, great place, fantastic quality and good service.

My partner and I are obsessed! We’re design junkies. We know furniture, we know the market. We have a budget. There are few places we can shop where we actually feel like our money is well spent — where we feel happy with our purchases, rather than feeling like we’ve settled for something sub-​par or have been swindled. Seriously, after a couple purchases at the Collector, your friends will start wondering if you’ve hired an interior designer. It’s THAT good.
As the location is somewhat off the beaten path (about a 15 minute walk from the Davis T-​stop, next to Highland Kitchen) the merchandise is NEVER picked over and is always fresh. The sort of fresh where each walk through the door typically yields a selection of fantasy acquisitions, finds that had once only seemed possible by making a living sacrifice to the Furniture Gods. In my case, an unsigned Danish teak desk that I had been lusting after for years … priced at $ 300. A find so good I actually felt guilty!
The Collector has tons of mid-​century furniture, pairs of lamps, interesting rugs, prints/​paintings and decorative oddities. The furniture selection is mindful of the size limitations of both urban and suburbanites. There’s stuff for tiny studio apartments and things for giant industrial luxury lofts. Most pieces also have pretty great resale value … which is awesome if you have to move or need to change things up.
The shop’s owner, Rex — is an absolute sweetheart. He knows his stuff and doesn’t ever try to push sales. Think of him as someone with a great eye that loves beautiful things and wants you to love them too. He’s spoken of a mysterious warehouse that is stocked to the rafters with merch, so don’t be afraid to ask if you’re looking for something.
Seriously folks — Don’t waste your time at West Elm, Pottery Barn, Ikea, TJ Maxx or Crate and Barrel buying cheap, generic, overpriced Chinese-​made designer knock-​offs. Stop planning dumpster funerals for your particle board Ikea pieces.
Go to the Collector. Be happy. Spend the same amount of money as you would at a big box retailer, but make a smarter purchase. Treat yourself to something original, made by a real person, with a history — with a story. Find something you love and know that your purchase has endured the last 30 – 70 years and will ensure decades, if not centuries more.
Also, a few final things to note:
1. Weird hours. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Be sure to call ahead before making the trip.
2. Metered parking. Bring quarters.
