YESTERcades provides customers with an entertainment venue that is dedicated to the nostalgia of classic arcades from yesteryear with a flavor of some modern gaming (XBOX One, PS4, Wii U, etc) mixed in.

All of our games are on free play so no coins or tokens are needed to play anything inside the venue!

History

Established in 2011.

YESTERcades opened its flagship location in Red Bank, NJ in 2011. YESTERcades was formed to bring back the Golden Age of Gaming and return customers to a simpler time in their lives. Everything here has been individually selected to illicit a sense of nostalgia from each of our guests. Stop by and play a few of the classics and see for yourself!

Our Somerville location opened in May 2014 and is committed to bringing our customers a variety of arcade cabinets, pinball machines, and home gaming consoles to suit every gamer.

Ken K.

Business Owner

Ken Kalada is the CEO and founder of YESTERcades. Ken has over ten years’ experience managing day-​to-​day responsibilities in a retail environment. He managed a family-​owned, independent pharmacy for over six years before moving into the sales industry. During Mr. Kalada’s five years in the sales industry, he successfully marketed and sold recruitment services in an untouched territory and devised marketing strategies to set his company apart from the competition. Ken also has experience marketing and branding Human Resource Outsourcing Services. It is in this industry that he met and devised customized HR plans to independent business owners in the Monmouth and Ocean County areas.

Ken holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute located in Troy, NY.

Awesome place! Love coming here with my stepchildren and my boyfriend. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The best part is you don’t even need more than 2 hours to get the full experience.
What’s great is that the Somerville location has a small eating area where you can order food. However, as convenient as it is with children, there are many great restaurants and cafés in the area. Also you might want to take a moment to stop by the Retro Classics store.

Awesome selection of retro games. They don’t have everything you remember, but they have a lot. I recommend getting the $ 25 day pass if you can, as the time will fly by. Take a break for lunch or dinner, walk around and come back. Staff is very friendly as well.
There were a few games out of service, as can be expected. I’ve only been once so I can’t comment on how fast these games get serviced.

A lot of classic game cabinets and pinball machines. They also have consoles and 3 big TVs with an Atari on a small TV. These is also air hockey, pool, and Foosball. BYOB on the weekends after 9. All in all, it is a fun place. The staff was nice, but you don’t really have to interact with them much. The were a few things that were out of order that needed repair, but every arcade I went to back when they were everywhere seemed to have one or two. Add the age of these to the mix, and it’s understandable.
It gets packed and was quite warm in there. The heat was on and the influx of people made it pretty bad for a while. I would wear layers in the winter if you go during peak hours.

An awesome place you can easily sink multiple hours into.
The staff is super friendly and the byob aspect is an excellent bonus. A great place to go with a group of friends or just to hole away by yourself.
They have all of the classics, every console from Atari to Xbox One. Tons of pinball, two skee ball games, two air hockey tables, and a pool table.
You can bring your dad/​mom, grandpa/​ma, date, co-​worker, or kid sibling. Make sure you check it out.

I’ve been here many times with many different people… And it doesn’t matter if your 8 or 80, you’ll find something you’ll love here. They have the entire history of arcade and console games that’ll bring you back to your childhood.
Atari? Check.
NHL 93 for Genesis? Check.
Zombies ate my neighbor’s for NES? Check.
A bunch of awesome pinball games? Check.
XMen, TMNT 2, The Simpson’s Game? Check check check.
PS4 and XBOne? YES!
They literally have everything you could ever want… GO THERE.

Great place! Awesome games & flat screen TV’s with every game console you could imagine! I’m going back so I could zone out for hours on Super Mario Bros! Only $ 25 for an all day experience. Plus it’s BYOB so I’ll be ready for my next trip!

The staff here are incredibly nice, and the games are awesome. The location is great, too – you can come after dinner at one of the great restaurants nearby. Definitely one of my favorite places to pop by when I visit family and friends at home.

Cool concept and a great place that gives you unlimited play and charges you per the hour. They have arcades from your childhood like x-​men, ninja turtles and more as well as more modern games like tike crisis. In addition, they have boardwalk games like air hockey and skeeball. This is a great place to just go HAM for an hour after dinner or a great date spot.
You’re on division street, so you have bars, desert, and returns nearby.
It’s a great concept, a welcoming staff and really an enjoying gun area.
I suggest checking this place out. However, recently they have shut down do to construction issues?

I’m not a big video game person, but I took my Hubby here for his birthday and he had a great time. You pay per hour and get a wrist band. They have all the old school arcade games, and other games such as pinball, skeeball, and air hockey. It’s funny how many men were there in their 30’s & 40’s, but I can see why. It’s very nostalgic and just a fun place to go. It would be fun to take your kids there and show them how different the video games were in the 80s!

Super tucked away. Literally in the middle of nowhere. Over all set up is nice but on a saturday it was expectedly packed. DDR game is not a throwback back but ill let it slide.

Very cool place with a bunch of arcade games, a few pinball machines, and a bunch of both old and new game consoles. You get a wristband as you walk in and that checks you in. Then you get to free play as long as you want, charged about $ 9/​hr. You’re in charge of keeping track of time and there are no reliable clocks in the establishment, so you can easily lose yourself and wind up spending much more than originally anticipated.
I went here on a weekend around 7:30pm. The street it’s located on is cool and pedestrian only, covered with tables to sit at and peoplewatch. I went at the perfect time because the place was quiet and everything I wanted to play or try was open and available. I stayed for an hour, which was the perfect time to leave because that was just as children were starting to arrive. Many, many children running around and screaming and creeping on me while I tried to play my game. I hurried up and checked out, well within my hour of play.
It would be cool if they had an ‘adult only’ night. They are open until 2am on the weekend so you would think it wouldn’t be full of children at that time… but I once went to an 11pm showing of the Muppet Movie which was crawling with kids. So that probably won’t be the case.

So it’s about $ 8 per hour and all games are set to free! When you compare the cost to paying 0.25 cents per game it’s a bargain. The basically charge in 15min increments so you don’t feel taken advantage of. On weekends after a certain time you can bring in booze.
I hope they make good money here because it’s a fun place to go to.

This place takes me back to my yesteryears.
Your classic and current video game consoles and arcade games all in one place. Just sit back back and think about those good old days where you spent countless hours playing those cool games and not doing your homework.
It’s $ 8.75 for the first hour and then they will charge by every 15 minutes.
Oh the good times.

This is such a great concept! I remember going to the arcades at Menlo Park Mall when I was young and spending way too much time and money there. I’m most likely exaggerating but the point is this: No coins to play at this arcade as it’s pay by the hour and the prices are reasonable. And before I lose you guys, I’ll add that it’s BYOB. So imagine sitting on their leather couch with a beer and playing anything from Sega to Playstation and everything else. It’s really nice and chill. And it reminded me how epic I am on the air hockey table.

This place is a lot of fun. Brings back many memories of my childhood both playing 8-​bit NES at home as well as trolling the local arcades. My father would drop me off with a $ 10 roll of quarters and I would just go to town.
This place is a tad pricier than that! I’m still a little iffy on the nearly $ 9 flat hourly fee, but I don’t go here too often, so it’s not breaking the bank. My very young son and his friends all love it. I think these games remind them of the many very popular games that are available for download on devices like electronic pads and smart phones. These apps are very simplistic in nature, similar to games like Pac-​Man and Spy Hunter. There’s something so addictive about these games so it’s no wonder that they are attracted to them.
This place will need to continue to grow though in order to keep itself relevant. They need to continue to add new games (would love to see Punch-​Out, Kung-​Fu Master and Super Mario Bros). They should also add some incentive to playing certain games. For instance, they have skeeball machines, but they don’t have any prizes to award so the machines don’t hand out tickets. That could be something they introduce in the future.
I also love their selection of pinball machines as well as the pool table. Speaking of pool, that reminds me: they need smaller cue sticks! Little kids love playing pool. I was teaching my son and his friends the last time we were there, but those cue sticks are too big for them. Definitely need to get some half-​sized sticks for younger children so they can get involved in the game and have more fun!
Overall a very nice experience, but it might get stale quick if they don’t continue to update and stay relevant.

Will definitely be back, they charge by the hour and then all the games are «free».
Also have some nice bigger screens set up for xbox one and other newer gaming consoles with couches etc.

I absolutely love this place! Maybe it has everything to do with all the memories that came to mind from games I have played in my childhood or that I was sweating while playing an intense game of air hockey… Either way this is grounds for a five star review. You step in and get a wrist band, no change, no coins needed as you pay $ 8.75 per hour or $ 25 for a re-​entry pass. Though a small venue I believe it uses every square inch wisely. There’s four (maybe five), I think 42″ flat screens mounted on the wall. Each set up to every game console you can think of, except Atari (not saying that it’s not there, I didn’t see it). Leather love seats are stationed in from giving you a «comfort feel», like you’re at home. There’s games in different bookcases along the way. I didn’t know how to set up the console on the correct AV but the staff was very, very helpful with setting up the tv as well as getting the correct controllers that were needed to play the console we wanted. I also want to say the place is kept up to high standards as I noticed different workers cleaning the machines and wiping down tables. There’s no alcohol served here but there is a little food counter, not sure what’s sold there but it seems like it’s a BYOB situation, as there was individuals drinking beers who said they brought their own when I inquired.
I enjoyed going there today after a long eight hour shift at work. Lounging on the comfy couch while strolling down memory lane.

A pay by the hour arcade shop!
Carrying in a bag full of quarters was a bit of an oversight on my part as Yestercades has you pay for games through a timed method instead of plopping quarters in each of the machines. It comes out to about $ 9.30 per hour after tax & then is broken down into 15 minute intervals.
They have a fair amount of games that will keep you busy. Most of the classics, several pinball machines, air hockey and pool table and a mix of music playing to keep the motivation up! They also have lounge areas for console games that are available if you wanna hang with friends but don’t have a place to go.
They could do well to implement some beer in here as they do have a food bar in the back. Granted, with the mix of teens already frequenting there, it may be difficult but if they had special nights or just a late night service schedule, it would certainly put this place over the top in my book.
