Terrible service, food and ambience. Got a $ 25 gift certificate, and they still failed

Beverly and I were impressed with the service, food quality, and cleanliness of Amigo’s G&C on this our first time. She really enjoyed their Pescado Diablo, a very peppery-hot fish specialty and we warn you that it’s super-hot while also delicious. I went for the Carnitas – very tasty but mild. You’re offered flour, corn, or whole-wheat tortillas and both of these house specialty dishes came with pinto beans, black beans, rice, and guacamole with a small amount of shredded lettuce. Very good salsa served along with chips – here I would have preferred true tortilla chips over the restaurant-style corn chips. We liked it, intend to return, and I’m thnking about setting up a dinner gathering there of local fellow alums from Burbank High 1967. No hesitation about recommending Amigo’s after this first visit.

I’d like to give them a half of star, but 1 is the lowest I can do! This place was dirty and unfriendly. We sat at the bar to get a feel on the place and decide if we wanted to eat there. The sign outside said best margarita and mexican food. However, this is a VAST overstatement! I ordered the House Margarita on the rocks and my boyfriend ordered the Cadillac Margarita on the rocks. The $ 8.00 House was ALL sour mix and the $ 13.00 Cadillac was poured out of a pitcher and didn’t have a hint of Grand Marnier! The salt on the rim of drinks was Morton table salt not Kosher salt! The free chips and salsa were descent and would’ve earned the ½ the star! Do not go here!

Looks like the interior has seen better days and the place had a bit of an aroma. Decent place to meet for drinks(good Margarita) and snacks with friends.

Mmmm, DOUBLENO! After Ranch House closed have been on a search for something comparable — Amigo’s fails on every level. Service, inconsistent. Décor, no thanks, and FOOD — you get more authentic and flavorful food at Taco Bell up the street. For those that have rated it five stars — the bar must be pretty low.

A nice mexican grill in Sonoma. I had their chicken breast burrito and it was HUGE but ultimately unexciting. I always forget to NOT order burritos at sit-down mexican places. My cousin’s boyfriend had a chile colorado platter that looked really good. Also, my cousin has Celiac disease and the main reason we went to Amigo’s in the first place is that they have a special«gluten-free» menu, so anyone looking for that option should definitely check this place out. Service was good, ambiance was kinda like a «mexicanized» diner feel. Prices were a little steep but relative to the portion size it was still a deal. We all took boxes home for lunch the next day.

Mmmm… no. Worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. The Mexican sitting across from me at the lunch table agrees with me also. From the very beginning, there was no host(ess) to greet you. no acknowledgement from the staff if you’re waiting for longer than 4 minutes. The poor gentleman in front of me was reading his paper and yes I should have taken this as a warning sign of what was to come. I ordered the Pollo Diablo and he ordered the Chimichangas. The Chimichangas were accompanied with refried beans and a mountain of sour cream. The Pollo Diablo was half of chicken boiled, then covered in chile sauce with onions, peppers and OLIVES in chile sauce. Also, it had two different beans on a large platter. No flavor, poor execution and nothing at all like Mexican food I’ve had before. But $ 46 for a mediocre lunch is not my idea of a good time. Poor service, bad food and they lie about being the best Mexican food around-maybe they’re the best on the block.

I went to amigos the other day with some friends. I got a carne asada chimichanga. and water. that meal cost me $ 24 with tax and tip. there is no way that should cost so much. over the years amigos has priced me out of their restaraunt. I loved their garlic chicken fajitas. But i also don’t want to spend $ 45 on lunch!!! not that is it truly $ 45 but it is so expensive I don’t think i will be back. I would rather go to sonoma taco shop. love them

Let’s start with the good — Love that they have an outdoor seating area. Love that there is a nice, big menu. Liked the food — was by far not the best — but mosdef satisfied the Mexican craving I was having after wine tasting all morning. Now the not so like-able — Server wasn’t very pleasant — it was quite obvious she was either hungover, having a crappy day, or simply hated her job… The chips weren’t hot and fresh… BIGPROBLEM for me… me encanta chips y salsa! :( And lastly — the bees!!! Yuck — I hate em… put traps out. Would I return? Sure, but won’t go outta my way…

SF Food Stop #8 Decent Mexican food at above average prices — but it gets the job done after a wine tasting binge. Nice outdoor seating area and big parking lot make it a great stop when the weather is nice. Food was, as I said, decent but not outstanding. Portions are very generous, though. Salsa was very good and fresh tasting. There were 5 adults /2 kids in our party, so we covered the gamut of food. General thumbs up on the overall experience, but at over $ 100 for the party(no alcohol or appetizers) price seems a little steep. Overall, what it lacks in price-to-quality ratio it makes up in convenience, atmosphere, and location.

Good, but not great, food. And for those prices, it should be great. Friendly staff, good service, and tasty food. They lose a star for the ridiculous prices. $ 6 for a taco?!? That’s one taco, ala carte! The most expensive Mexican food I ever had, but not the best. I’d be happy to eat here again, if someone else were paying.

Go if your amigos are buying. Have eaten here a number of times, before and after remodeling(did they reuse the same old banquets and booths?!?). Locals in this immediate area do frequent here, but they’re hugely dependent on tourism. Fantastic menu assortment, great bar drinks, but everything is severely overpriced for the surroundings and complexity of food. $ 85+ tab for 3 entrees, a small bowl of gazpacho, a soda, tea and 2 blended margaritas. The $ 15 – 16 base entrée price is nothing like the similarly-priced Guaymas in Tiburon(and they’re on the water with phenomenal food). And when you consider the pricing of food from the restaurants on the downtown Sonoma square with award-winning chefs, then it’s even less of a good value. The apps are more reasonably priced. Diablo chicken had large amounts of fat that had to be scraped off. Table agreed hit or miss with enchilada dishes after numerous visits. Fajitas reliable… the one person order can easily be shared by 2 people if you get an additional app. Gazpacho is reliable although not a standout. Fantastic blended drinks if that’s a preference. Don’t get me wrong, great food, but the ambiance and food complexity do not match the prices. 3 stars because of that. Extra star for extra friendly and attentive staff + parking lot. You’re better off trading up to a more upscale restaurant in the area or bringing the prices back down to earth and eating at a more hole-in-the-wall place.

Mediocre food, unfortunately… and it’s very expensive. I recently tried The Ranch House(I think that’s the name) on W. Napa and it has much better Mexican food for a reasonable price.

Homestyle Authentic Mexican cuisine and service with a smile. Open for over 10 years so the food must be consistently good. Mexican comfort food. Nothing too fancy and nothing over the top… not sure about the drinks, but the Owner was quite friendly. The parking lot and restaurant were both almost filled to capacity and so were our stomachs midway through our meal. Though the other reviewer mentioned the 9 pm strict closing time the Owner told us that they were more than willing to accommodate people and were flexible on the time. Large portions, decent salsa, slightly forgetful waitress but for the most part a good experience. Date Rating: 5 Pick up Scale: 1 Strong Suggestions: Come hungry & bring a wheel barrel to have someone roll you out.
