Quail Hollow One Apartments

DON’T DO IT! This place is filthy and smells horribly bad! The atmosphere is … low income housing at best. The walls were paper thin so you could hear everything going on in the surrounding apartments.
The apartment was beat up and smelled foul! The beds were hard as rocks and the linens didn’t smell fresh. The handle on the back door was loose and at one point we went onto the back patio and the slider lock mechanism got caught and we were locked out.
We bought new pillows and candles and lysol to make the stay partially tolerable. I did wake in the morning with bites on the side of my face :(
Usually I would have complained and moved hotels however we were in Sonora for a memorial for a family member and I just didn’t have the fight in me.

The low price ($ 85) for a one bedroom apartment is just not worth the hassle, unprofessional-​ism and filth of this place.
I tried HARD to like it. I wanted to like it. Born and raised in Sonora I know there are not many places to stay that offer much more room than a standard hotel room. Traveling with a child, the idea of an apartment with a kitchen, separate bedroom and pool SEEMED to be the best option.
Some reviews have mentioned the questionable characters lingering around. Yes… this is a low income apartment complex, frequented by police for drugs and more. I knew ‘of’ it but took my chances anyway. FIRST MISTAKE.
It went from bad to worse when the very unprofessional staff and manager (Patty) charged me $ 200 two days before I arrived, for an $ 82.50 room, after telling me it was no problem to pay with cash at check out. Admitting the ‘mistake’ but totally unwilling to do anything about it, telling me to just ‘wait for the refund’… which still hasn’t arrived in my account, almost a week later.
When I got there I was put into a very HOT apartment that wreaked of cigarette smoke even though there were ‘no smoking’ signs all over the unit. When the A/​C would not work it took three calls to the office and a threat to plant myself and my son inside their office until closing, at which time they would have to call the police to have me removed. (clearly, I was OVER it by this time)
We were moved to a fresher smelling unit with working A/​C. However, the sheets on the bed HAD NOT BEEN WASHED. There was a large yellow stain in the center of the bottom sheet and 2 inch black (human) hairs stuck all over it. The pillows stunk of B.O. The pull-​out couch was worse. The bedding from the previous occupant had not been folded up, much less cleaned. There was no remove for the TV. The oven did not work. The patio was covered in cob webs and the huge ashtray had not been emptied in a very long time. There was one (broken) chair on the patio. There was no soap or toiletries of any kind in the bathroom.
This was probably the worst lodging experience of my life. I don’t mind riff-​raff or questionable neighborhoods… I knew what I was getting into there. But the staff has no experience in running a ‘motel’. They simply work in an apartment complex office. ZERO care or customer service. Down right RUDE. And the FILTH in the unit… inexcusable.
STAY AWAY at all costs. Go downtown to the Sonora in for the same price and historic, casual charm.

We had trip planned for Yosemite for about a year with a KOA cabin reserved outside the park. In this reservation we stipulated that we were bringing a pet. My sister called the KOA to reconfirm the reservation and the management all the sudden decided that they didn’t accept pets after having it reserved with a pet for year. Anyway that is for negative review my sister is going to give to that campsite.
Since we had to scramble at the last minute to find lodging at the last second, my sister worked her magic with Expedia and found these apartments. She called Expedia to verify that they take pets and the gentleman on the line put her on hold for 10 minutes while supposably calling the Quail Hollow office. He comes back and said he confirmed it was alright and booked us for 3 nights.
We get here on Monday afternoon and go to check in and the manager said she didn’t receive any information about us bringing a pet. But she was wonderful and worked out something on the spot and got us into an apartment with my pet. The apartment is great, much better than a motel room or KOA cabin.
So if you are going stay in Sonora, CA for a couple nights and you don’t want a motel room. I recommend giving Quail Hollow One a call.
