When my son was 3 years old he was having trouble sleeping and seemed to be having trouble breathing. We were referred to Dr. Krause who did nothing more than ask for history and tell me my son would be a great candidate for a tonsillectomy and adnoidectomy. He did take an xray and the radiologist did not seem to think the tonsils were overly enlarged (I read the report), but Dr, Krause called me and said that again, my son was a great candidate and he recommended proceeding with the surgery. I warned him prior to surgery that my son was prone to vomiting and did he think an antinausea medicine might be a good idea. He assured me it was unnecessary. I was given the standard recovery will be fine with Popsicles. After surgery before my son was even alert, I was told my son was ready to go home. When I got home and my son began to come out from anesthesia he began vomiting and it did not stop. I called his office repeatedly and asked for advice and was told it was normal. Finally, I demanded to speak with Dr. Krause who told me that «As far as he was concerned, the surgery had been successful, and that if I was having issues I should call my pediatrician or go to the ER. He was not responsible for aftercare.» We ended up at the ER and had to wait for 4 hours (very busy day at the ER). We ended up being admitted to the hospital and remaining there for 3 days for dehydration and poor reaction to the anesthesia and codeine. My pediatrician took care of us and he sheepishly poked his head in the following day to evaluate his self-​perceived excellent results. I will never use him and tell all of my friends to make sure that they don’t get him when they need an ENT in Santa Cruz. I wish I had filed a formal complaint.

Saw Doctor Krause today after a month of a crooked nose. He just reeked of knowledge and was very good at communicating his thoughts and addressing you as a knowledgeable individual (even though I’m not). He was quick good and easy to look at and talk to… A great doctor, he made me feel comfortable and confident with myself. Thanks again doc!!! He also is an extremely attractive gentleman.

Doctor Krause is why we pay so much for top notch health care. He is an uncanny example of what a good doctor is supposed to be. Thank you for making my nose better. The POP! really made my day. He’s also super nice, fast, and efficient.

Dr. Krause has taken care of our son (put in ear tubes). He has been professional, caring and provided up to date information on treatment options. He is also good with kids (our experience not consistent with previous reviewer).

My teenage daughter was recently seen by Dr. Krause on an urgent basis for a peri-​tonsil abscess. I found Dr. Krause to be sarcastic and insensitive. My daughter was in alot of pain and has a very visible fear of needles. Instead of showing even a minor bit of compassion or empathy, he was condescending and judgemental to the point of laughing at her tears. When my daugher asked him if the blood in her saliva was normal, after the highly painful procedure which involved several shots to her incredibly swollen tonsils, followed by a needle aspiration, he sarcasitcally told her «What do you expect? I just put a needle in your throat?» I asked if the procedure was actually necessary. He did not give me a solid answer and seemed in a big rush to finish it up. He dismissed my request to give her something to relax her before the procdure, saying it was not available and that we shoud just hurry up and do it… In the end, the procedure was unnecessary. There was no abscess and only caused alot of pain and bleeding. Dr Krause did not offer any after care instructions and seemed annoyed when we asked when my daugher could eat. Hands down the worse bed side manner ever bordering on sadistic.

I’ve had the opportunity to see all the ENTs at PAMF over the years and I must say that all of them have been wonderful. They always take the time to answer my questions and never «talk down» to me. they are always polite and pleasant to see. I love that they tell what they are going to do before they do it and explain why! I’m sad to hear the Dr. Gurney won’t be with the clinic anymore after her second child is born. She will be difficult shoes for the clinic to fill. Dr, Krause and Dr. Hetzler will keep the boat afloat but I am anxious to see who they might find to replace Gurney. They are a good team!
