Joseph is my go to artist. He is great at traditional, especially black and gray. He cares about every tattoo he does and never rushes any piece no matter who the client is. I would recommend him to anyone.

Joey is an amazing artist. At first I was scared of getting tattoo. When I first did it, it didn’t hurt much. It sting a little and after 10 mins my arm got numb. Joey is really good at his work and he is great at having conversation. We talked all the way until my tattoo was finished. Thanks to Joey maybe when I have enough money I’ll get my whole arms done by him again because it wasn’t hurting all and I trust him and he was recommended by people.

Joey has done 4 of my tattoos including my very first one he is an amazing artist and always makes sure you like it ans its in the right place you want it at hes pricing is very well i feel im happy with his work and he will always be the peraon ill go to if i want a tat done and i will recommend him to anyone!!!

I got my first tattoo from Joey and I love it! It all came out perfect and the lettering is amazing. I was nervous as hell, but he made me feel really comfortable and was super friendly. Joey was very flexible when it came to scheduling and communicated with me really well. I love that he detailed the crown as much as possible and I’m honestly just in love with the lettering! Even my mom that doesn’t approve of tattoos loved it. I definitely recommend checking out New Generation Tattoo.

I got a second tattoo done here by Joey. I love it! He did a great job. His bed side manner is pleasant and he worked at a good pace. Hes not heavy handed either, most of the piece was a breeze. It looks really clean. I will definitely come back to him for my next one! He chatted with me when we got to a part with a fine needle and a tender spot. He even recommended a sushi spot for when we finished which we will be going to right now. Thanks joey!

«This was my first tattoo. I had researched, pondered, procrastinated and then I took the plunge. I looked for tattoo parlors with the best review in the Bay Area, and New Generation Tattoo stood out. I called them, told them I’d like an Om tattoo that is 2 – 3 inches wide and tall, Billy told me he can get it completed in under 2 hours.
I go to the parlor, meet Billy and Joseph James (Joey?). They get started on the process to getting me inked within minutes of getting there. I spent few minutes with Billy going over the size of my tattoo. Once that got nailed, Joey set up stuff to get it moving. He realized it was my first tattoo, so kept talking throughout to take my mind off the pain. You could tell he was meticulous and detail oriented. Needless to say, New Generation Tattoo is very clean, disciplined, hygienic, and professional. About 90 minutes later, 98% of my tattoo was done. Joey gave some finishing touches, and what I saw as an end product was amazing. I fell in love with it.
Very happy with New Generation Tattoo. Definitely going back to them.

I am so happy that I found Joey to do my tattoo! I gave him a super basic idea of what I wanted and he went beyond my expectations. I could tell he really put a lot of effort into my piece and he really took his time. Completely worth what I paid and I will definitely be getting more tattoos done by him. I would recommend him to anyone! You can really tell that he cares about his clients and wants to do the best job possible. He is also just an awesome person in general so it’s great to just be able to talk with him so easily while he is doing your tattoo. Overall, great guy and great artist.

Joey did a great job on tattoos for me and my husband. He had a great personality, was able to get started on my design right away, and made changes so it was perfect for me. I went in for my tattoo last year (it’s the pink bow on my arm) and it was last minute that my cousin and I went in. Joey is fun, relaxed but professional. Definitely friendly and listens to what you want but also throws in his expertise. I appreciated his patience and the fact that my tattoo came out just the way I wanted. It healed great and am looking forward to going in for the next one.

Joey is amazing at doing roses. He’s super precise and every line is perfect. Also pretty quick which is a huge plus when getting tattooed. This was my biggest tattoo so far and is healing the best. Totally worth the drive from San Mateo to Santa Cruz.

Got a tattoo by joey, setting up appt. was fast and easy, got set up. When I got there I told him what I wanted and he free handed it really quick and put it in place, made sure it was where and how i wanted it, which it was. Getting the tattoo was a solid experience he has a light hand and works fast which are two inportant things when looking for a tattoo artist. Most importantly gave me a great tattoo, Exactly what i wanted. Already got a deposit down for another tattoo with him.

I had been wanting a tattoo of my baby’s name on my fore are for a while. After looking at many shops for their lettering, everything look «choloish.» I wanted somthing more fancy. I saw Josephs ad on craigslist and decided to to an appt to see more script options. I walking in showed him kind of what i wanted. Within 20 mins he had the piece i had imagined, I loved it. Joey is by far one of the best tattoo artist I’ve come across. I’ve know Joey for a little over a year now and he is the only one I now let tattoo me. He’s done 6 of my 8 tattoos (the other two were done years ago).
Joey has a wonderful personality, always so upbeat and positive. He quickly became not only my tattoo artist but my friend. One of the most caring and gentle souls you will ever meet!
My loyalty to Joey and his work is solid and I will continue to get all of my work done by Joey at any shop he works out of.

I recently started a new tattoo by Joey. I’m usually skeptical on going to new people but Joey made me feel super comfortable because he was so confident in his work. I’ve had two sessions on it so far and I’ve been nothing but pleased with the outcome so far. He’s super reliable and down to earth, always making the customer and their needs his top priority. His work is clean he’s super friendly and he’s extremely motivated which is important in this industry.

Let me start by saying Joey has so much talent. He really has a passion for what he does and he definitely knows what he’s doing.
Getting tattooed by Joey is more than just a tattoo session. He really strives to make you feel as comfortable as possible and he sure can keep up a conversation! He is very flexible with his clients and is always busting out amazing pieces!
