The mediocre and negative reviews below baffle me. This is the best slice shop I’ve yet to find in the City of Boston. Their pizza is very similar to the thin slices found in NYC(where the best pizza in the US is found), which is a welcome alternative to the dough-y, thick, bland Greek-style pizza found in most Boston-area pizza joints. Don’t complain about their fries and burgers and steak tips and stuff like that, this place is about the pizza! I grab a slice every time I’m in the neighborhood, whether I’m hungry or not… that’s how much I like their pizza.

Love this place. My go to pizza place in Southie. Great for a Greek salad or a late night slice. The guys are super nice too and always know the locals by name.

This was a small pizzeria. The staff was nice and the food came out in a timely matter. I tried the large pepperoni calzone($ 15?), large chicken chipotle calzone, and a slice of pepperoni pizza($ 3?). The pepperoni calzone was by far the best item tasted. There was plenty of pepperoni and cheese while the bread had a slight crunch. The chicken chipotle calzone was a little different. I was not a fan of the chopped chicken that was used. There was a slight kick to it with the chipotle seasoning, but I was just not a fan. I really had to dunk these in the ranch dressing that was provided. The slice of pepperoni pizza was decent. The crust was too thin for my liking. The sauce was a little plain as well. There was enough cheese and pepperoni and the slice was of good size. Will I go back? Debatable.

This place is cheap and that’s what it has going for it. Slices are average if that. This past time the steak tip sub, steak tips was more like stew meat.

The order was missing half the food I ordered. Next time don’t charge me $ 28 for $ 20 food, I ordered a dinner meal with rice and a chocolate cake and 2 cokes, I got a sandwich, french fries and a salad. Last time for me thanks!

Good pizza. Very thin and easily foldable which is the key to great pizza. :-) Good delivery experience.

They have the absolute best italian sub in life. We now live on the cape and I desperately wanted one after I gave birth. We couldn’t make it happen but when my husband was up in Boston today he got me one! These guys know how to construct a sandwich! If you’re someone like I am who is a stickler for a well constructed sub, McGoo’s is where its at. Talk about consistency; we last lived in Southie in 2010. The sub is exactly as I remember it. THANKYOUMCGOO’S!

I just ordered from this place for the second time. Let me begin by saying that I was very happy with my order the first time around(hence the two stars) which is why I placed the exact same order again. Well, unfortunately, what I got now was something completely different from last time. I ordered their Novellino on the Grille Sandwich through eat24. While the description clearly says that the sandwich is supposed to have zucchini, eggplant, cherry tomatoes, onions, green peppers and McGoo’s secret avocado sauce, it literally had none of those things. Instead, the sandwich that I got had spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, red peppers and lettuce. Also, I guess the secret avocado sauce is so secret that it just disappeared. Most importantly, though, I cannot eat broccoli and had I known that the sandwich would have those I wouldn’t have ordered it. Moving on to the fries — last time, I was delivered some really nice crispy seasoned fries that I really enjoyed. This time around, I got regular fries that were so soggy and tasteless that it felt like they were microwaved(wouldn’t be surprised if they were tbh). Needless to say, I am never going to order from this place ever again and I will warn all of my friends against ordering from this place too. I shouldn’t have to guess whether the food I get will be the food that I actually ordered. Sorry, McGoo’s, you had a big initial fan whom you disappointed immensely and I am not one to be quiet about such things. Fortunately, eat24 refunded my money, which I am very grateful for.

Mcgoos has unbeatable service!!! The guys back there are as friendly and attentive as they come. I usually order magoostas and they toss an extra in at night. They also lent me their mop to clean my apartment after the friars took the natty!

McGoo’s is the best, cheapest pizza in all of Southie, it’s so greasy and good and no frills, reminds me of some of the old school pizza shops that really used top be rampant in cities. McGoo’s is the sort of place that a Pizza Hut of Papa John’s can’t touch, culinary-wise or geographically, and you should give them business.

Went here and asked for a couple slices of pizza. The guy stared at me for a few minutes, then walked away. I went elsewhere. I spoke clear enough and loud enough too.

Convenient little pizza shop in the South Boston that is cheap and delicious. $ 2 per slice and the portions are huge!

I ordered the Chicken Marsala Linguine, however they ran out of the sauce and I appreciated a phone call with an offer for a spaghetti chicken Alfredo. It was whatever. I’m a pasta buff, so I’ll eat anything with pasta. The meal was just a plain jane for me. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t anything good. The sauce that held the pasta together was… dry. The pasta sort of stuck together, and I had to grab a stronger fork to scoop some pasta up. The chicken was a little dry, but eatable. Again, just a plain jane. Overall, it wasn’t horrible, but definitely could have been a lot better.

The food is OK but the employee’s are funny as hell. I work as a tow operator in Southie and I pass by McGoo’s at least 20 times a night. I’ve been in there so much that they start making my order before I even step out the truck. I agree that the pizza is not the best but the rest off the food is really good. Love the subs and burgers. I would recommend them to anyone that is looking for a quick bite.

McGoo’s has become my go-to takeout place in Southie. The guys who work there are so cute and nice! They have quick delivery and the food is pretty decent. I’ve had the pizza, buffalo chicken fingers, and a couple of different subs. The buffalo fingers might be the best out of all of the pizza places in the area. Sometimes the fries are soggy — it seems to depend on the time of day you order. Pizza is on the same mediocre level that all Boston pizza sits.

Nah. Was good, back in the day. Different now — very different: not good. Got a slice, took it cold — the true test. Yucky. Two bites, tossed it into the trash outside and went right into Nick’s for a bomb slice o’ pie.

This has become my go-to pizza joint. A small is perfect for two people and me and some who will remain nameless have been known to house it down. Comes out piping hot in about 15 minutes. The place isnt much to sit in, only about two tables… but it’s great for pick up or delivery. I come for the pizza but have tried a ready made calzone and those are pretty yum too!
