Very helpful staff! I bought a bow for my son for Christmas and they strung the bow for me for free. My son has taken a lesson here and we will definitely be back!

I came here for the archery lessons, pretty good deal too. Anyway, I had a great experience both times. The guys there, Jeff, Ruben, and Don are really easy going and chill. Don basically taught me the basics as to how to shoot a recurve, and compound bow. I’d like to say that I got a pretty good one-​on-​one w/​him during the lesson. Don went out of the way to help me set up a left handed compound too, that was pretty awesome. So overall, I had a really good experience at a great price. Just be prepared to be sore the next day!

Great place to find affordable archery equipment. I came in looking for an Olympic style recurve and the the staff was very careful and helpful in making sure I got the perfect bow for my needs. The staff member that helped me was Ruben, awesome guy.
Archery stores are few and far between in Los Angeles. In fact I had to drive all the way from the San Fernando Valley to get to this place but it was worth it. I will definitely return for future bow purchases.

The Crossbow Store was simply amazing. My girlfriend and I took our first lesson in archery with Don who is a great teacher. The class was extremely fun and Don helped us improve very fast. We decided to stay after the lesson to keep shooting since we were having so much fun. The place was very clean and everyone there was extremely professional. We definitely plan to go back in the future and highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning how to shoot a bow and arrow!

I can’t think of a better place to recommend as my first Unilocal review than this lovely hidden gem. The boyfriend and I went on a random Monday afternoon and had the absolute best experience with Don and his team. Scheduling the appointment was super easy — we went on the website the morning of and reserved an hour where we would receive a beginner’s lesson with Don and we were all set to go.
The location itself has ample street parking. The first room is a store front that sells a variety of crossbows (for the Walking Dead fans) and bow and arrows. You enter the next room and there are 4 – 5 targets placed on the wall for people to practice. You check in with the helper up front who was very kind and efficient. We did the deal where we paid $ ²⁵⁄₂ people for 1 hour lesson.
Don walked us through everything from how to hold the bow to how to load the arrow and how to shoot the bow and arrow with proper form. Don is amazing at what he does and is so very patient with 2 people who had no idea how to use a bow and arrow. He walked us through all the steps and figured out how to focus our eye on the target. All the while, Don threw in appropriate jokes and chatted with us during down time. By the end of the session, my boyfriend and I felt very comfortable using the bow and arrow. We loved the experience so much that we stayed an extra hour to practice shooting some more.

This place is great! I came in to check out the archery equipment and the staff was super friendly and helpful. They even took me into the range to practice shoot with their instructor Don who actually helped me discover I’m left, not right, handed! Bought my new bow and I’m ready to shoot!

This is new to me and might be new to you. Three of us came over giving it a try. very healthy sport. Will come and shoot more often.

Fun, Fun, Fun! First timer. I had a such great time here. Thanks to Don for your excellent instructions. Now I feel like that I am ready to be in the next hunger game. I will be a regular from now on.

Friendly service is the defining aspect of this shop. I’ve chatted with Jeff, Don, and Ruben on my visits and all of them are warm and friendly. The shop is geared toward hunting and crossbow (thus the name), and with a focuses on their e-​commerce side of things, so the physical store is mostly just a showroom with a 20 yard range in the back. The show room is a bit sparse, everything is on the walls and on the floor — there are no counters. A rack or two in the middle and that’s pretty much it. The inventory level isn’t too high, and if you are into target archery (which I am) the choices are fairly limited. They are, however, placing more emphasis on archery lately (Thanks to Katniss, Oliver, and Hawkeye) and that’s a good thing IMHO.
The range is about the only indoor archery range near me, and it’s well lit and clean. It can get crowded on weekends (it’s not very big), so call before you go to shoot. One problem for me is the range closes basically when my work ends on weekdays, is super crowded on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays — I simply can’t get any practice in. However I’ve been told they are planning to create shooting nights for Tuesdays and Thursdays, which again, is great news. I’ll update this review if and when that happens.
The shop is growing (again, I can only speak of the target archery side of things), and I’m interested to see what it becomes in a few years time. Right now if you need to get target archery stuff, this place wouldn’t be my first choice, yet.

My status: Don’t know anything about Archery.
What I wanted: Learn how to shoot a bow, and to see if I’m interested in Archery.
What happened: I’ve learned, and I’m interested. Had fun experience.
Price Range: Affordable for fun.

First time coming here after buying their Amazon promotion for an hour lesson for two people! The atmosphere is really nice and the instructor, Don smith, is super friendly and kind! He likes making jokes and is very personal with his instructing. He’s very patient with his lessons and tries his best to help you hit the target. If I could give a higher rating I would haha. I would totally recommend it to anyone who’s a beginner and wants to try out or train in a calm and helpful environment!

My boyfriend and I got our lesson from Don, he was very knowledgeable and taught us how to correctly hold a bow and aim our arrow of course! Our lesson was only 1 hour and we both ended up getting our own set of bow and arrows. We’ll definitely be coming back here for some indoor shooting and practices!

Just got done with our lesson here today and was a wonderful experience for me and my daughter. Alex is very helpful and Don is a wonderful, attentive instructor.

This place has an amazing and knowledgeable staff. I came here for their grand opening and these guys are here to stay. Instructor Don is amazingly patient and offers helpful, constructive criticism. I took a free lesson and got some major tips about my form. Everyone else clearly knows what they’re doing with this business. I hope the city of South El Monte makes The Crossbow Store an integral part of our community. In summation, this store has an excellently solid staff, top archery equipment, and an amazing facility.

Second time coming for a lesson with my group of friends. Don’s an awesome instructor. If you’re a beginner they’re very patient. He and Ruben will give you pointers when you need it. Everyone here is very friendly, chill, and easy to talk to. They will help you with any questions you have.

What makes this place special is the people who work here, Jeff, Ruben, Alex, instructor Don, awesome guys and awesome customer service. The physical location itself is called Woods Archery, kinda hard to spot. It’s been some time since I last shot, so I took the introductory class as a refresher. Don was great, pointed out my form and technique were both pretty solid, just needed some stiffer arrows and a smaller biscuit for my #55 bow. Let me tell ya, WOW, what a difference!!! Thanks Don!!!

Amazing experience I ever had in this place. They have all kinds of bows and arrows. The coach was very patient to teach each one of us how to hold the bow and shoot it out. I was very satisfied with their services. Can’t wait to go back there again to have some fun with my friends. Definitely give them a 5 start and recommended to everybody. Thumbs up.

Went in last week to check out the store first, amazing costumer service, very helpful and patient, none of that trying to push merchandise on you which was super great. Went in for my first lesson with Don, he was super cool and knowledgeable, archery is something you have to practice a lot, and knowing this place is here I’ll be coming back again and again. When you find an awesome place like this you just gotta tell people.

Came in a few days ago with some questions concerning the intro archery class, and Ruben was very helpful and patient with me. It’s a small shop, but they go above and beyond in customer service, even if you don’t buy anything. They’re patient with people who are thinking about getting into archery, and take their time explaining things like the types of bows and bow care (and once again, I only came in to ask about the class). I like the enthusiasm and genuine love for archery. Cannot wait to go back for my lessons next week!
⁴⁄₂₃ Edit: Came back yesterday for my lesson in a group of 5 people. Don and Alex helped us out and got us all hitting the target paper right away. They are both extremely helpful and patient, and will be able to get you on the target right away. They’re also extremely fun, and will definitely add more to the atmosphere if you’re already having fun with the lessons whether you’re alone or in a group. If you’re looking to try something new, and are worried about disappointing yourself, don’t worry about it at all. I’ll definitely be coming back as often as I can for this kind of atmosphere and pleasant shooting.
