Planet Fitness – South Gate

If you, wanna beat the crowd, would recommend you to come early morning maybe around 6 or 7 am. Or around 11 am. The gym is pretty small. Employees are nice. It’s not as intimidating as other gyms. I love stair masters so that’s probably one of the reason I wouldn’t like to come here lol. Doesn’t have much equipment but I guess you can work around that :)

This is much smaller than the bellflower location.
The equipment is very clean and bathrooms are in order but can use some cleaning. But weights are all over the place.
They do not have 12 minute abs here or a stretching area.
The staff which looks to be over staffed is just chatting it up at the front desk.
It would be nice if they walked around and picked up the weights and Dumbbells that are out of the barbell area. Or the paper towels that are on the floor.
Also they can help instruct the people in the 30 minute area to follow the green and red lights and move machines.

Horrible place everyone hogs the equipment Dumbbells all over the place. I’ve never seen one person with 3 sets of curl bars about eight different weight Dumbbells. Soap dispensers empty.

This gym is very, very, tiny and is always packed. Expect to wait a long time for equipment. Everyone is packed in there like sardines. In addition, parking sucks. You have to pack really far away because otherwise you will get towed. Since, it’s so packed, they should think about expanding when more space becomes available (It looks a lot bigger from the outside, but that’s way deceiving once you go inside.)

Don’t bother getting the Black Card !!! They never check you when u use their black card amenities

Rude manager kyra! Bad bad bad. Email has been sent to their corporate office but beware. Everyone has been nice so far. This female won’t let you speak, rolls her eyes, and glares at you. All for a simple Statement print out. that another manager easily did after she just walked away. And as I just saw others have had complaints about her so I wonder why she’s still there!

My Husband & I joined this gym recently, and I must say its pretty good, very clean, friendly staff, you’re always greeted as soon as you walk in. We come here around 4pm and there’s always workout machine available at that time, it’s not crazy packed. So far so good.

They now have brand spanking new mats, so clearly they logged my complaint and made it work somehow! Thanks!

Great service, the fitness center is very nice with classes and the classes are wonderful, and a good workout as well with different kinds machines!!! A must go to

I tried this location for the first time yesterday because I got a free pass in the mail and it was probably the worst gym experience I’ve ever had! Every treadmill and elliptical was taken when I first walk in so I had to wait maybe 5 – 10 minutes for one to open up. After I did my 10 minutes of cardio I was looking for an available squat machine or something similar for me to get my leg exercises in but everything was taken! Yeah PF is inexpensive but if you value your time or saving a little bit of money I suggest a bigger gym that’s less over crowded with more equipment.

I’ve been coming here for a year in hopes that it would get better, but it’s only gotten worse. The womens bathroom is falling apart. I’ve tried checling in and recieved major attitude frm multiple employees, the staff is a group of miserable teenagers. My boyfriend recently got kicked out because he was my guest and they couldn’t find me. Who kicks out a guest? This last event is what caused me to search for another planet fitness near my home… so glad that I did.

So I just moved into the area & I needed a gym that I could visit pretty much every day. This is the closest one to my house so I went with one of my best friends to get a feel for it b/​c she gets to bring a guest in for free. Well the guy at the front desk was just a noob who spoke really low for some reason. I know your job isn’t the most amazing one ever but at least try to market your job to possible new clients, that way we feel inclined to get a membership. Don’t act like some by-​the-​book dbag. & I forgot my id and he made me go all the way back to the parking lot to get it. I’m not 15 so please spare me. I’m not saying give me free stuff and surrre you were just doing your job, but damn, let me know what’s up with PF, what are the perks? like it’s my first time checking this place out. I get it, I’m not the most visually appealing woman that’s entered that gym but seriously that just costed you a membership.
other than that, it’s a rather small place to work out, and most people didn’t re-​rack their weights or clean their machines after they have used them. gets really packed around 10:00 ish

Place is almost always crowded, no matter what time you get here. Plenty of machines to use regardless of how busy they are though. I just wish people understood what the 30 minute workout area was for. Hard to get in and out quickly when people are either just sitting there on their phone or doing reps. Staff needs to monitor that area more often.

I’ve been coming to this gym every now and then, and in the beginning I would come in with no problems. Today I’ve had such a rude experience from this light skin black woman who said I could not come in to work out because I am not a Black card member. She was not compassionate, very rude tone & demanor.
And besides the rude individual staff, the gym is beyond packed. Nothing can be accomplish because there are too many non discreet guest who hog up 3 – 5 sets of dumb bells.
But hey, for $ 20 you pay for what you get.

I’ve been to a lot of gyms but so far Planet Fitness has been the best however this location has its pros and cons

The only reason why I wouldn’t give it 5 stars is because of the staff I try to come early or late at night and usually the guy Keith is there majority of the times and he’s probably the most welcoming of all! He makes sure to say hi and bye when your here and also the white girl with blonde hair is super helpful and nice!
However whenever I had anyone (not including the managers) else check me in they have had such an attitude or are very rude. they make me not want to come to this gym to avoid the awkwardness
even if you don’t say hi that’s fine I just don’t appreciate it when your looking me up and down as I walk through the door

Coming from a long history of gym membership sign ups this had to be the easiest and least complicated out of them all.
I was not pressured into purchasing my membership, I didn’t have to haggle for a lower price or go through a list of 10+ types of memberships.
The reason I did sign up was the constant cleanliness of the facility and the contribution of the actual members cleaning after themselves after every workout.
I would highly recommended this place to anyone that wants an easy start at working out without the pressure or commitment.

Needs more treadmills, needs wifi, needs ab zone
Good atmosphere but a bit crowded at times, recommend coming early in the morning or late at night
You get what you paid for
Overall worth the 19.99 $

Don’t even get me started on this gym…
Pros: the mirror in the locker room. THATS IT
Cons: rude female at check in always with a damn attitude putting me in a bad mood before my workout is never a good idea
No wifi
No stair master
Always packed never available treadmills
No type of machine variety
If ur a black card member I suggest the Bellflower location, not far from here and MUCH better. you’d be surprised that they’re both planet fitness locations
I suggest the beauty angel machine for black card members, so refreshing after a workout

I haven’t been to this gym in a few months and surprisingly it was empty. Granted it was 4:30 in the morning. lol I did like the fact that the employees were cleaning up a bunch of the treadmills and vacuuming as well. So far so good. I will update if anything else changes.

This is not a final review but just a little rough draft of what is yet to come. First things first, they should seriously have their employees walk around and keep an eye out for those who don’t re-​rack their weights. Also, what’s the point of having a «lunk alarm» if people are still yelling and dropping weights? I literally had to stare at a guy tonight just to give him a hint that I am annoyed by his behavior and stop slamming the weights down. If you can’t gently place them down then use lighter weights and let the big boys handle the heavy ones.
But the biggest annoyance of all is one of the employees who also works out there and likes to walk around and holler at people as if he’s the owner of a night club. It’s the same guy every time; this tall lanky character. Dude, you work at Planet Fitness; it’s not that impressive. It’s like working at Chuck E’ Cheese. If he spent more time working out instead of talking to girls, he might see some results.
I’ve worked at a gym myself for a few years and I’ve given more customer service than these people have. Who cares if you’re paid minimum wage; make the extra effort to make your members feel comfortable.
