7 Seas Inn

My husband and I stayed here after purchasing a deal through Groupon and boy, were we happy to have found it. As some of the reviews state, the rooms have been recently been renovated and feel clean, modern, and comfortable. The location was nice, walking distance to Heavenly Ski Village and to a nice beach area (we were visiting in the summer months). The best part, however, was the owners. They greet you when you arrive and are the people taking care of you throughout your stay. Always ready to give tips on local eateries and activities, they are the quintessential hosts. There is, what the website describes as a continental breakfast every morning, but it is so much better than the image that phrase evokes. Think fresh fruits, juices, cereals, home-​made pastries or other breakfast items. We also loved the evening ‘happy hour’ they host which includes a spread of hors d’oeurves like cheeses, crackers, and the like, as well as various wines.
I would definitely stay here again and have actually suggested to my father to come stay here, as he has been lusting after a trip to Tahoe for some time now and would love the friendly atmosphere of the 7 Seas Inn.

Nice accommodations with gracious hosts and their mascot Bartley. Lake access with daily pass is about 4+ blocks. State Line and Heavenly Village is an easy walk.
Complimentary homemade breakfast in the morning and delicious appetizers and adult beverages in the evening. Nice garden are to relax and mingle with other guests. Great value! Enjoyed the stay!

I came here with a group of people on a snowboarding trip. The snow was ok (it stormed the day we left), so the highlight was really thus hotel.
Location is perfect. Right by the village, so it was an easy walk to restaurants & bars & the gondola.
Check in was super easy & friendly, & we got a group discount. Loved the room (cozy, clean, hot shower with good pressure), & the jacuzzi! We had drinks downstairs (was so nice of the owners!) & snacks in their little meeting area, and just felt completely relaxed and at home. In the morning, breakfast was incredible! Pancakes, tea, and good people.
This honestly felt like a steal for the amenities and hospitality. I would absolutely stay here again

Amazing Amazing service and such a cute hotel room. We stayed here memorial day weekend and the kids and I didn’t want to leave. Debbie and Bill made us feel so special and welcomed.
Breakfast time was great, my kids even got to help make pancakes and waffles. I really enjoyed happy hour, talking with the owners and other guest while relaxing and having a drink.
We ended up getting a free room the next day at Harveys, Top Floor with a Lake View– the room was huge. After being there for 2 hours my kids said I rather go stay at the 7 Seas Inn Debbie and Bill are way better.

Hands down the best motel I’ve stayed at in South Lake Tahoe! I don’t know how it happened but I reserved a room for the next day… HUGE DISASTER ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND! The young lady said not to worry. She had one room available, even though the sign said no vacancy. We were so greatful! This will certainly be our #1 place to stay and refer to all our friends.
Happy hour snacks & drinks and breakfast in the morning. Can it be any better?! NOPE.

Having found this on a lark via some online hotel search engine site for cheap digs, this has been our staple summer and winter sport accommodations for years and it just got better! The hotel recently changed ownership and the new caretakers Debbie and Bill are warm, gracious and respectful hosts who live on site and take great care of their property and their guests. They are like family (the good kind. HA). There is a friendly hostel (no, not hostile) vibe here where you get to know the neighbors (other guests) and their stories from near and far.
The rooms are lean and clean (small but comfortable), priced very reasonably. My only regret is that in an effort to make the rooms feel more spacious, the double rooms now have 2 full-​sized beds instead of 2 queens. The owners are very accommodating about late night arrivals and switched out the hot tub cleaner (I think?) as it’s got much less «pond scum» disinfectant in it now. All much appreciated. Not a lot of big box amenities like swimming pools and gyms… but you’re in beautiful Lake Tahoe! GO OUTSIDE and get some fresh air and exercise.
They plan on renovating a good portion of the mini-​hotel come April 2016. For starters they got new comfy mattresses and blankets and redid the bathroom shower stalls in most (all?) of the rooms. Gone will be the in-​room microwaves (though you’ll have access to one in the café) and in with a more efficient fridge/​closet area, new headboards and furniture. They also plan on a revamp of the café with new seating and kitchen to accommodate all their guests (right now it’s tight but cozy quarters).
I don’t believe they are technically a B&B, but they might as well be. Their breakfast and happy hours are great and certainly more memorable/​interesting than say Park Tahoe Inn, Forest Suites to name a few that we’ve tried over the years. They make and bake fresh everyday with an ever-​changing menu. (e.g. from scratch waffles, muffins, assorted canapés, quesadillas, cowgirl creamery cheeses, selections of wines and a small list of cocktails)
As I write this, I am having pangs of selfishness, as I don’t want this little open secret of a gem to get so booked we won’t get our own reservations in, but they definitely deserve a shout out.
P. S. My 4yo asked about coloring books that the last owners had for kids. Debbie apologized for not having any handy… by our next trip up… Debbie had gotten some, ready and waiting. Not just your subpar, sad, tv show, media-​branded newsprint Raley’s variety ones either… we’re talking those nice, psychedelic OCD ones for kids and adults alike. ;)

I must say at first I was upset because we arrived early and the office was closed. The sign said they would be back at 3. So we started calling the number that was provided on the door. Debbie apologized and let’s us know that her and her husband got stuck in traffic and was running late. They showed up 15 minutes later. They couldn’t have been any Nicer and apologetic. Suuuuper sweet couple. The rooms are adorable not a super fancy place but clean and on Friday and Satuday they serve free Beer and wine in a room 101 around 6pm with little finger foods. The next morning in the same room 101 we were served blue berry pancakes, beagles, cereal juice fruit. All done by the owners it was nice and we got to know our room neighbors it was quite homey. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

All I can say is if you don’t stay at the 7 sea’s inn you are missing out. The experience is like no other hotel can provide simply because Debbie and Bill do not own any other hotel. This is a no brainier and will continue to stay at the 7 sea’s every time I visit South Lake Tahoe. Oh I almost forgot, the location of their hotel is within a very short walking distance to the gondola and lake.

Debbie and Bill made mine and my husband’s stay perfect! Added a few extras for us, since it was a special weekend. Hot breakfast each morning and appetizers/​snacks each evening. Fantastic hospitality and great company, not to mention the very reasonable price. Definitely hope to come back soon. Thanks again for everything! David & Jenny

Great lodging for family on a budget. Very clean simple rooms. Easy walk into Heavenly Village. The new owners (Deb and Bill) are very friendly and gracious hosts. Weekend Breakfast and evening happy hour appetizers (especially the hummus!) are delicious and is what makes this hotel so great for the price. Just finished our 3^rd stay and will definitely be back.

Great place! The owner (I forgot her name but she is awesome!) really do her best to accommodate you and is super friendly! The queen beds are comfy and the shower was hot and strong! The breakfast was a super nice surprise as we were expecting the usual cheap continental free breakfast. All the pastries were fresh, we had lots of options including fruits, oatmeal, yogurt, coffee and juice! We will definitely come back and try the jacuzzi next time.

I’m too old to stay at a cheap cockroach motel, but I’m not made out of money either so I booked a room at the 7 Seas based on great reviews on Unilocal and the reasonable price. Convinced the group of people I came up with to do the same (stayed in a total of 4 rooms), and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice! The new owner Debbie is fantastic: friendly and soooo helpful and accommodating. She hosted a Happy Hour with complimentary beer, wine, and snacks (chips and salsa, crackers with salami and cheese) in a little room with 4 bar tables and stools. Debbie had given me a recommendation for our group to go out to dinner (Base Camp Pizza) but the wait was an hour and a half (it was a Saturday night, not surprising) so I asked if it would be ok to order takeout from there instead and eat in that room. She was fine with that and even hung out talking with us and refilled our wine glasses after Happy Hour was supposed to be over. After a full day of boarding and now a couple of drinks in us and full tummies, a couple of us were complaining about being too tired to go out so Debbie offered to brew us a pot of coffee to perk us up! If I could rate her customer service alone, it would be 10 stars :)
Debbie informed us that she and her husband took over ownership of the 7 Seas about a month ago and are in the process of sprucing everything up. We slept on brand new double beds (so comfy!), with clean, crisp sheets, and fluffy pillows. There were brand new mini-​fridges still in their boxes in the office, ready to be switched out with the old, and Debbie said all the rooms were scheduled to be repainted. The bathroom and shower are tiny but super clean, and the heater worked almost too well (noticed too late there was a ceiling fan). The drapes nicely kept the sun out for anyone who’d want to sleep in, but everyone in my group got up for the complimentary continental breakfast between 7:30 and 9. As you can tell from my glowing review, my friends and I are definitely planning on staying here again!

7 Seas Inn has the most hospitable owners I’ve ever encountered! We stayed for just one night and attended both the dinner and breakfast events that they hosted. There, we had to chance to hang out for an hour or so, meet other guests, share stories, and even have some snacks and beverages that the owners provided for free.
The rooms were clean, the beds comfy, and the heaters worked amazingly well. I would highly recommend staying at 7 Seas Inn, especially for the price!
Another bonus is that Lake Tahoe is within walking distance, which is awesome!

We selected 7 Seas because of the price and the consistently high ratings on Unilocal and Trip Advisor — we really needed to prioritize bargain pricing but didn’t want to stay somewhere dingy.
Happily, 7 Seas lived up to the positive reviews and then some, thus I’m here to add my own: the room was clean and had lots of convenient/​pleasant features: microwave, fridge, flatscreen TV, working gas fireplace (controlled with the thermostat on the wall), luggage rack, hair dryer, extra chairs and a small table for eating or working, large bathroom. The complimentary continental breakfast in the morning and snacks/​drinks innkeepers’ reception in the evening are both very nice.
It’s conveniently located within walking distance of: the lake and beach, shopping (grocery, souvenirs, ski gear, you name it), dining/​pubs, Heavenly gondola, casinos (Nevada is just literally across the street), and a couple of hiking trails. The new owners are very welcoming and helpful — they know the area well and have plenty of recommendations.
One minor quibble: the wifi connection is pretty weak. We were trying to do some work while traveling and ended up having to use my mobile data hotspot after several failed attempts to email files. The connection, however, was strong in the middle of the night, leading me to believe it’s fine as long as hardly anyone else is online.
Nothing else to add other than: we can’t wait to go back.

The new owners have continued the excellent experience of staying in South Lake. They got a dope happy hour goin around 6ish with comp snacks and wine/​beer. The room was comfy and clean. Hot tub is operational (just a few degrees hotter would be the ultimate) Got soft blue towels from the office before jumpin in. Heater kept room toasty warm. The upstairs rooms have little balconies where ya chilax with mornin coffee from the breakfast room. Frequently at these smaller motels sumethin is whacked. ur missin soap or the mini-​fridge is too loud, etc. Not at Seven Seas. Perfection. The atmosphere is more like a bed and breakfast. Friendly, homey, and just all around wicked good karma.

Now this is how you run a hotel! I get a text at 10:30am telling me my room is ready for check in. Are you kidding me? That’s awesome!
Room was clean and quiet. They had a bowl of rags to clean things up, which came in handy for my motorcycle.
Free breakfast was hearty and tasty, plus great conversation with other guests.
When you combine all of this with killer rates, it’s a «can’t be beat» deal. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat.

7 Seas has become our ‘Tahoe home’. The owners are super nice. Rooms are great. Close (5 min walk) to ‘the strip’. Best bang for your buck in South Lake!
We have stayed there two years and plan to go back again and again. They even allow our four legged children! Could’t ask for much more.

We found this location on Trip and Adviser/​Yelp for our weekday trip to «get away» from the rat race. This place is all about customer service. It is also across the street and down the block from the stateline casinos and right around the corner of Edgewood Tahoe Golf. ALSO they are VERY PET FRIENDLY. As most other hotels charge a large fee for your dogs, this place is only $ 25 per dog. In addition, they have a little area right on the premises where you can walk your dog. In the same area is a small waterfall with outdoor seating and BBQ grills. The owner had bought the location several years ago and is super nice and very friendly. People from all over the world were here in the 3 days we stayed. I meet people from Russia, Sweden, China and Japan.
The location is perfect and the place is clean. Close to everything and VERY affordable. Other hotels in the area should take a lesson from the owner of this location and learn that customer service trumps everything else.
In addition, they have a small, fully stocked bar which is open from 7 to 10 p.m. for hotel guests only. Prices are very reasonable too.
In the morning from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. they serve a light breakfast which includes toaster waffles, bread, cereal, coffee, milk and juice. My only complaint is I wish they offered some bagels and cream cheese, but that does not distract from the overall ambiance and clean, quiet stay at this fine destination.
Save your money! Stay here and go enjoy a nice dinner on the town with what you saved. Make sure to ask the staff for food recommendations as they were 3 for 3 at the places they referred us too which were 4 stars or higher! We will make this our go to hotel for Lake Tahoe from now on.
Clean, quiet, close to everything, Jacuzzi, inexpensive and bar and breakfast. What else could you ask for?

Second time I’ve stayed here. Just wanted a cheap place for a dudes trip. The owners are hella nice and have bagels, coffee and juice ready for you downstairs. They even hang out with you and make sure that you have everything that you need. You can tell that they actually enjoy running the place, not just working there for some absent owner.
Plus, we’ve never got a noise complaint. We don’t blast music, but we do sometimes stay up drinking till earlier than I’m proud of. Most places complain when we are just talking after 0300.
Hot tub is small, but outside, hot and works well. Didn’t use it this last time.
Walkable to Harrahs/Harvey’s.
I’ll definitely stay there again.
