Explore Tahoe Visitor Center

I like the outside of the visitor center. The colors of the pavement is all sparkly and beautiful. A great place to take picture. And the guy at the visitor center was helpful too. And inside there are few educational stuffs to see and learn. A must stop if you want to get to know about Tahoe.

This isn’t really your typical visitor center but it’s free and conveniently located in the middle of the town or touristy area. They don’t have that much information and you have to purchase all the good maps, etc. However, the service or people working there is good and very helpful.

It is a nice place to visit. We got a handy map that show all the beaches around the lake. They have TV there show picture of SLT. Both guys there were helpful. They also have things that visitors can buy as well as free activities for the kids. It is also a short cut to the Lake Tahoe resort hotel. We went in three times in two days since the kids like it so much.

On an average day in SLT, hundreds — make that thousands — of people walk right past this place without giving it a second look. It’s their loss. Nowhere else can you get a fascinating education about the deep blue lake and the towering mountains that surround it.
Located right in Heavenly Village — mere steps away from the gondola, this is a bright, modern, and inviting building. In the entry is a diagram depicting the incredible depth of beautiful Lake Tahoe. Across the way is an illustration of how Tahoe’s legendary clarity has decreased over the years, due to human development of this natural wonder. It’s a reminder of the need to preserve this area for future generations. In the main visitor center is a relief map of the lake which highlights the towns and the areas around the lake. There is a continuously running video that discusses not just the Lake Tahoe environment but other areas as well. There are activities for kids, and the staff is always ready to answer questions.
The guest book for this busy President’s Day week only listed a few visitors per day. Such a shame.

I really enjoy visiting Lake Tahoe to go skiing. I was waiting for a bus or ride around this visitor center, so I decided to go in and was amazed by this carefully organized and created visitor center. I liked the terrain map of Lake Tahoe. It felt really professional and interesting. I would visit again. A center like this enhances the tourist experience of Lake Tahoe and provides information and order to the experience.

Excellent Visitor Center in Tahoe! A great FREE place to visit if you have kids too.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and eager to help. They have a variety of free maps inside and many coupons for Tahoe restaurants and services. Clean bathrooms too.
Inside, for younger kids, they have an area for tracing and coloring.
For older kids, they have several educational exhibits illustrating the vastness of the Tahoe Lake, the history and educational facts.
For older fans, there is an area with benches for you to sit down and watch a video about the history of Lake Tahoe. The video is of high quality and great historical and educational value… we really enjoyed it.
They also sell books and a few finger puppets, toys, and nik naks/​souvenir items for Lake Tahoe.
This place is very clean, very organized with excellent staff. Well done! We really enjoyed the visit.
