After calling around town trying to find someone that I can be loyal to, I am so grateful that I found Dr. Kahn. He is very knowledgable, attentive, and and amazingly thorough. I find it funny that someone would be turned off that the Dr. is answering his own phone and handling his own orders. I find it refreshing! Thank you for caring so much to take care of all of us so well, Dr. Kahn. Those of you looking for a Dr. can can prescribe contacts — he doesn’t make you schedule a 2nd visit so he can get paid more for contacts. If he has to see you again to make sure they are working for you, he will just have you stop by. He also wears contacts and tries every brand out himself so that he knows what he is talking about when he recommends a brand to you for your specific needs. Don’t go anywhere else!

My boyfriend and I both visited Dr. Khan in mid-2013 for standard eye appointments– I needed a new pair of glasses and my boyfriend needed glasses and contacts. And we found Dr. Kahn right here on Unilocal. Dr. Kahn is a one-man show and runs his office very lean. In a small mountain town like South Lake, I wasn’t expecting some huge corporate type office– and no one else should either. Go to Walmart if you want that type of environment. We made back-to-back appointments for a weekday afternoon. Dr. Kahn was finishing up an appointment when we arrived, but was definitely able to multitask politely between us and his current patient. When he was able to take us in for exams he was very gentle, informative and courteous. Another patient actually walked in during my exam and Dr. Kahn completed the task he was in the middle of with me and asked if I would mind if he just addressed the person in the waiting area briefly. I was of course okay with this and he did so in less than a couple of minutes. At the end of both of our eye exams Dr. Kahn made several recommendations for each of us. At no point did I feel that he was trying to sell me on anything expensive or unnecessary. He even offered up some suggestions for products and frames that he did not carry at his own office. He also went into detail about my vision– showing me some charts and comparing me to others in my age group. We discussed some options that I thought might be beneficial for myself based on others’ suggestions(i.e. my vision has definitely decreased in the last year and people have suggested that I try contacts for distance). Being that I work in front of a computer 40 – 60 hours per week Dr. Kahn suggested against this unless I spend a lot of my spare time outdoors where the increased depth of field might be more important to me. I agreed with him that contacts probably aren’t necessary at this time. He really could have sold me on an extra service there and he didn’t. He was very warm, attentive, friendly and professional– everything I would hope for in any doctor. His office is small, but perfectly well-equipped for your vision service needs. I would recommend him to anyone living or visiting the South Lake area.

After reading just one negative review I had to put my two cents in. Dr. Kahn has been my families eye doctor for 16+ years. He has seen all six of my children and my husband and myself. When we could not afford the exams he took a pair of my Grandmother’s vintage readers as payment in full for two of my children’s exams. He has seen my husband when a strap smacked him in the eye at NOCHARGE. None! He saw my son when he was hit in the eye and again at NOCHARGE. He recently saw my 22 year old son for a routine exam and diagnosed him with something requiring a specialist and when it came time to pay that bill… you guessed it NOCHARGE again. Dr. Kahn is a very thorough eye doctor who keeps his prices down because he does it all himself, but don’t mistake that for being cheap. He passes his savings onto his customers of which my family is proud to be. Thanks Dr. Kahn and keep up the great work… The Wieland’s

Dr Kahn is the most thorough optometrist I have ever been to! I have an astigmatism and he was able to find the best prescription for me — I have never been able to see this well. I highly recommend him if you are looking for quality.

It is true that he does not have any staff and he does everything himself, but he is a good optometrist. I have been to many optometrists, and none of them could get my prescription right. He actually took the time and now I don’t have any problems with my vision.

This optometrist is too cheap to hire any office staff. He does everything himself. As a result, during your exam, he is answering his own phone, greeting people at the door as they come in, dealing with mail couriers, etc… He just leaves you sit there in the exam room while he does all this. He also can’t quite keep all his information straight because he’s doing too much multitasking. I had glasses remade three times and a wrong prescription written out because he is too distracted juggling everything. He also has no regard for other people’s schedules. It didn’t concern him too much how many times I had to take time off work to keep coming in and getting different glasses remade. Do yourself a favor and skip the stress of dealing with this guy.
