My husband and I wanted to find a quaint and warm feeling place to escape to for our 4th anniversary. Tahoe Valley Lodge was more than we could have hoped for: it was charming, different from your average chain hotel, and we felt so taken care of that we were able to relax and spend some quality time together. The amenities were wonderful, the lodge itself was incredibly clean, and everyone we spoke with was kind. My only complaint is that we had to leave and come back home! We will definitely be back soon.

Traveling through the area, tired of staying at the same old motel chains, we were happy to come across the Tahoe Valley Lodge. We enjoyed comfortable beds and an immaculate room, something we don’t see enough of while on the road. We were delighted with the craftsmanship and rustic wood décor of the theme room we stayed in. The small attention to details made staying at the Lodge feel very much like being at home. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and offered us advice about where we could enjoy local entertainment and dining. We felt more like family than customers.
Our advice– skip the chains and stay at the Tahoe Valley Lodge where you will be treated to a warm and welcome visit.

We chose the Tahoe Valley Lodge based on its location to our friends home and the price. What a lovely surprise! The rooms are very well appointed and very clean. Upon check in we were upgraded to a suite with a sitting room and two fireplaces! When we made the decision to spend an extra night because of weather, they were more than accommodating! I would definitely stay here again when in Tahoe!

The Tahoe Valley Lodge is an absolute gem! From check in to check out our experience was first class.
We were lucky enough to get a suite which should have been spelled «sweet» because it was charmingly decorated, it was squeaky clean, and it had every thoughtful detail included: robes, coffee, hairdryer, toiletries, extra towels, etc.
Take the time to look at the décor… At first glance, it appears to be a cabin that could be featured in a magazine… all accomplished by attention to small details applied with a tasteful eloquence. Our suite had two fireplaces, two flat screen tv’s, and furniture that was both comfortable and attractive. It’s apparent that the owners, operators and staff of this lodge care about making a traveler’s stay exceptional.

Tahoe Valley Lodge
Weird circumstance. Had a reservation in Minden gone haywire on a holiday weekend and we found ourselves without a room unless we were complainers. We decided our alternative from Minden was Sacramento and find a room along the way. On the 89, at night, we passed what seemed a bad fatal collision and were advised along the way to seek shelter by turning right at the 50 and seek shelter in South Tahoe. We immediately encountered a DUI blockade and when we passed were advised to seek shelter by turning right at the first «Los Angeles» Intersection. We followed the officers’ advice and found an opening at the Tahoe Valley Lodge. $ 419 !!! Including tax was the room rate, I agreed, so this so this is my admission to this encounter. More than twice what I have ever paid for a room having travelled about 30+ Countries and States over my 62 years. AAA was advertised, but was not honored. I was expecting a lavish indulgent room, but when I opened the door, we had a basic queen bed and plastic shower. Clean but $ 419 a night! I can never step foot in Tahoe anything… Way above my budget. I told my wife we paid 200 and she still got mad and we both got very little sleep.
WIFI code, «Tahoe2014» did not work after checking several times, so no sleep or wifi and we do not watch TV.
I can’t wait till tuesday so I can pay my AmEx and get this ripoff off my mind,

Clean and well maintained. Good value for a quick trip to Tahoe but I wish there had been at least one standing lamp. Room was dark.

Stayed a Tuesday night. Room was small but clean. TV worked part time, the wi if didn’t work and the faux fireplace didn’t work. It was 144.00 bucks! Which is high considering it was a Tuesday and off season and the room was small! One queen bed. Sorry but didn’t get my money’s worth, not even close!

This is a fantastic find, I look forward to coming back in the winter! The owner is extremely kind and knowledgeable of the area, and the rooms are clean and cozy. There is even an electric fireplace in the room, essential after a long day at Kirkwood.

Penny squeezing motel. Outdated rooms, unfriendly management and terrible value. They consider moving from a queen to two single beds and «upgrade». I would not recommend staying here.

The owner at the front desk was Rude. We reserved a room for two people. When we arrived he charged us an extra $ 45.00 a night for our 5 year old son who sleeps with us. And to add to the frustration, its $ 10.00 extra for a roll away for him on top of the $ 45.00 even when its a room with one bed. They charge extra for every little thing. The room is clean but underwhelming.

You gotta give em credit. Digging out the snow for guests and shoveling snow so we can get out in the morning. They are doggie friendly too. Comfortable and warm. The only thing I would suggest is that they add some shelves in the rooms instead of all the decorations of moose, pinecones and snowshoes. Smaller rooms need to be useful. I would love to remodel these rooms. But, nothing is perfect, the owner is very nice and the location is convenient. Prices reasonable. Clean too. I give the owner a five star rating, just needs better use of space

Shared a room between 4 friends, 2 beds; small, but decorated well with a small bathroom. the beds are okay, the staff of 3 are sorta creepy though. cheap ski/​snowboard package with sierra at tahoe, heavenly etc. only reason why we came to this place… near a raley’s, so pick up any needs
i wouldn’t recommend it for a group of people

got this as part of a package deal from sierra at tahoe, it was the cheapest hotel available. I wasn’t expecting much, but was really really happy with it. Looked nice from the outside, the owner/​manager was really friendly and recommended an awesome spot for breakfast (ernies). The room was small but nice (and decorated like a home rather then a generic hotel room). comfy bed, hot shower. exactly halfway between casinos & skiing. great spot.

Rooms were a decent size. Beds were OK. Cozy blanket. Fun Themes. SMALL bathroom !!! Frig, fireplace, and flat screen TV.
Exactly $ 20.00 cab ride to casinos.
Small pool — no hot tub.
Dated, but decent.
(mgmt noticed we had 1 extra person (oops), and made sure to charge me an add’l $ 45.00 a night for that one person)
