George Senates Coney Island

Horrible food. The food looks and tastes like it was made by a 5 year old and they messed up my carry out order multiple times. There’s a much better coney down the street in South Lyon called Lucas Coney Island. Go there, it’s much better quality. I will never eat here again and wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. Do not go there!

Good was fantastic best gyro I have ever had but was very cheap waitress was slow and not freindly tho took a long time for food. But was well worth the wait for that gyro lamb was cooked perfectly and was fresh.

Dry clumps of gyro meat. Yellow brown salad. Just threw the meal out — Terrible quality. Would complain but it isn’t worth getting anything a a replacement since it is probably as bad.
Waste of money.

The place is dirty. The table was cleaned twice, and still sticky. And don’t look under the booth.

I found the place to be clean and nice. The kitchen is visible from the registers and It looks clean too. The food is your basic coney food with a few specials. My food came out quickly and correct so no complaints.

The main reason I’m writing this review is in the hopes that the owners will see it and change their ways. I really don’t want to hurt their business, but I hope they will take this criticism to heart. Some of the food here is actually pretty decent, especially the pasta dishes, but I cannot eat in the restaurant. It needs a very deep cleaning and updating. It’s not only dreary, it’s just not clean. I first went there with my son who has worked in restaurants and he was turned off as soon as we sat down and he got a look at the table, salt and pepper shakers, etc. I have talked to neighbors who feel the same way, which is a shame since we all live very close and would frequent the place if only it was more appetizing. The waitstaff is friendly, and some of the food is good, but the place is just not clean enough for me, sorry to say.

Gone there twice now prices are high and hash browns are swimming in grease not going back

This is my favorite Coney in South Lyon (we have 3!) and probably my favorite coney of all time. The waitstaff is always friendly, and they go above and beyond to make a personal connection and have a conversation with you about more then today’s special. I’ve never had the problems the other reviewers have listed about long wait times, but I’m not over 65 and I don’t come out when the Senior crowd does… I’m still in bed, or at work!
The food is excellent, and not just the basics. The ribs are fantastic, as is the stir-​fry and the salmon. Honestly, it’s the best place to eat in South Lyon.

Our waitress was so friendly that I’d like to give George’s a better rating, but it took so very, very long for our food to arrive that I can’t.
Hubby and I stopped by here for a late breakfast, and George’s does have a nice breakfast menu — all the usual suspects, plus some specials, at reasonable prices.
Unfortunately, we walked in right after a large group that had rented out the back room. I would have expected the kitchen to be staffed up accordingly, since I doubt it was an ambush rental, but apparently they were short staffed. At any rate, it took over a ½ hour for us to get our food, and when we did, Hubby’s order was wrong. The waitress happily corrected it, and in only a few minutes, but especially after that long a wait, it should have been right!
BTW — I asked the waitress and this restaurant is not owned by George who owns the Senate on Haggerty just south of 6 Mile.
