Baja Fresh Mexican Grill

Ordered in restaurant to go. Got home 5 minutes later and ensalalda lettuce was old and appeared to have been made much earlier in the day. Steak burrito was cold through and somehow they managed to melt cheese in a quesadilla and deliver it cold. Baja Fresh? This place is expensive and bad. Next time we will go to Sharkies or Dona Rosa in Pasadena. I suggest you do the same.

Worst service here, they have to hire people that have customer service skills and that smile. They have a rude dorks here and seems not happy to help you.

3 Stars because they always mess it up on TAKE OUT. It’s always a pleasant experience when we eat in. I think there’s communication breakdown between the cashier and the cooks. They should have a meeting to go over, special requests like, no sour cream, light rice, dressing on the side. This stuff is basic and if they mess-​up on take out… no one is happy. Dine in is consistent and if they do mess it up… it’s fixed right away.

Sadly, this is one of the few Baja Fresh stores that I know of remaining. I wish there were more of them! The quality is always good here, especially the chicken breast they use for the tacos, burritos, etc. One of the best things about coming here is the do-​it-​yourself salsa bar! The black sauce is hands-​down the best «free» salsa at any Mexican place!
The cashier on the weekend at this particular location is really friendly and jolly. Free and easy parking in the plaza lot.

Manager (Priscilla) of this place is rude and unprofessional! I was in the area so I decided to stop here for lunch. Ordered shrimp burrito on the menu listed $ 7.99 but was charged $ 8.99. Mgr told me the computer was set up for this price and basically refused to honor the listed menu price! She argued with me like it was my fault that the price was wrong! Wow!!! Refused to give me district manager information. No worries, I googled and put forth my complaint. Bad customer service! Will never come back here again! Hope the owner (s) of this place reads the Unilocal review and do something about it.

Portion of ultimo burrito was great! Chips were fresh and just came out of the fryer and food was made fast ! I used to work for Baja fresh 4 yrs ago Whittier location as a shift manager under different owner (franchise business) they’re doing a great job at this location ! Cashier was welcoming everything punctual in this location in my opinion :)

If you want fresh, healthy Mexican food this is the spot. Located in the Von’s shopping center there’s lots of parking. There is a restroom available for customers only. What I always get, are the grilled mahi mahi fish tacos. Their salsa bar is also excellent which you’ll need while you enjoy the complimentary chips they provide while you wait for your order. Make sure to ask for them cause they don’t always ask. Grab a table as your order is brought to you. Definitely a spot I frequent.

Always get my classic Steak Baja Burrito paired with Mild Salsa, Lemon and Pico De Gallo. Makes me and my tummy happy and full every time.
Tons of parking, no lines, quick turnover!

The water from the soda dispenser is HORRIBLE AND GROSS! The filter and/​or the machine itself probably hasn’t been changed and/​or cleaned in a very long time. All of the drinks are made by mixing this yucky water with the soda syrups. So, everyone is drinking this bad water.

Compared to other Mexican style fast food choices, Baja Fresh is our absolute favorite. It’s the freshest and has the best ingredients. We love the menu selection!
This particular branch has good staff and generally speedy service. It could be a bit cleaner, though. On busy evenings, we’ve had to bus and clean our own table in order to sit inside. Not going to dock stars though, because they are very generous with the chips! Where other locations only offer a small scoop of chips when they serve your meal, this location serves a nice helping right after you order. Even though it’s a fast food joint, feels like a sit down restaurant as we munch on our chips while waiting for our order.
Tip: If you’re a frequent customer, buy the refillable sipper cup! After that initial purchase, beverages are only $ 1 every time you come! Particularly good deal for couples, because you can share the drink!

My last choice for Mexican food, but my wife wanted some carne asada nachos from here because the cheese is melted.
Pathetic excuse for nachos, meat tasted like it was boiled, no flavor at all. To top it off, hardly any cheese.
I ordered a chicken torta, because that is difficult to mess that up as long as the bread is good. I’ll tell you that they tried. It was the best dish at our table, because the bread was good.
I read other reviews talking about how good the salsa taste, maybe they should put more effort into their actual food.

I love Baja Fresh but this location is horrible! How do you mess up a salad? I work in South Pasadena so we have tried it a few times always with the same results. I will never go back to this location.

This place is consistantly terrible. If you’ve seen «Idiocracy»…there’s nothing further for you to read.
For anyone else… just go ANYWHERE else. How do you miss the cheese in a bean and cheese burrito?! And then argue with each other in earshot of the entire dining area.
The only reason you get one star… is because I can count on your Mango Salsa to jazz-​up my cornbread batter when Im feelin frisky. Its always better when its free.

When you are in a bind, and need something sort of on the healthy side, Baja Fresh is a good choice when there isn’t a Subway or Chipotle around. I will admit that I eat my fair share of fast food, but, there are some days one does not want to be in a food coma all day. I love the quesadilla at Baja Fresh because it’s feeling an one doesn’t feel gross. This particular location had mango salsa to die for so I lapped up my quesadilla with the salsa. Service was okay (I think there was only one cook, which was surprising because of the lunch crowd), but I was able to eat and run in time. I am happy I have a location to go to since I work on the west side of Pasadena.

I really like baja fresh, but this location sucks. The smell when you get into the store it’s horrible, the service is slow and they can’t get it right. The chairs are all broken.
The place is filthy, the tables are dirty and the floors are dirty as well.
I’m sending a letter to corporation, this franchise need a better management.

*FISH TACO REVIEW*
As Americanized as fish tacos can get.
THE AMBIANCE:
General fast food venue. There are tables and there is a bar-​like seating area that extends on the entrance wall. There is a soda and tea machine as well as a salsa bar with a good selection. In order to use their one-​stall bathroom you have to request the key at the front counter.
THE FOOD:
The fish tacos… Eeek! My Mexican food critic side finds them disgusting. The fish tastes likes its been frozen and then they throw it in the oil to fry it (probably what they do) so you get this blocky and chewy consistency. If you go to Costco’s frozen aisle, you will get better tasting fish once you cook it at home. How would I know that? Because I shop at Costco and I have bought the fish fillets.
If you are craving fish tacos, PLEASE x 30, follow my Ensenada-​born advice: Go to either Señor Fish (about a 2 min drive on Mission Street) or Via Mar Seafood (Highland Park). On Wednesdays, Via Mar Seafood has two (2) fish tacos for 99 cents!
THE TIPS:
This is not a review for their burritos or other items. I am not a big bowl or burrito for lunch gal (unless its a grand bean and cheese burrito with a side of sour cream) so for me, I would only come here if I am craving chips and salsa.

Quick and friendly service. The location is small but enjoyable. Tried the chicken fajita and chicken nachos. The chicken is juicy and fresh. They also have wide selection of salsa. You must try the mango salsa which is hot and tangy.

My favorite to-​go place.
On a tired and hungry evening, this is the place to call and pick up the Baja burrito with shrimp.
This loaded treat is made with creamy guacamole sauce and crunchy grilled shrimp.
At first bite I knew it was a perfect receipt.
And it’s been my regular craving for years.
The variety of salsas are another reason for my frequent return. You just don’t get these interesting salsas like mango at any other Mexican places!

My favorite of the «fast food» options, I come here at least once a week for the Baja Burriro, chicken, no pico, crispy (which means they throw the tortilla on the grill to crisp it up) with lots of slices of lime.
The ingredients are fresh and the portions generous. Servers always greet me with a smile. Note that you can add a Pronto Guacamole to any entrée for .99. They also have excellent taquitos, salads, and their nachos look amazing.
