There are multiple dry cleaners within less than a 1mi. radius of here but this place is the best. They’re super affordable, dependable, and delightful. Joy is a joy! — super friendly and gets the job done!
I had a formal gown that I bought last minute for a wedding, and needed tailored and things looked grim in finding a place that would be able to do it in time (like, 2 days away!). Decided to come here because of all the other wonderful Unilocal reviews, and I’m SO glad I did! Joy was so patient and understanding in helping me and was able to tailor everything perfectly! I felt blessed.
I come here regularly for dry cleaning now too. This place (and Joy) is great!

Have tried calling this place three times and they don’t even answer the phone during their business hours. Not a good sign. I’ll be taking my dresses to someone who wants my business.

Overpriced. Wanted to charge me $ 40 to shorten the length of a jacket. Seriously how is this place only 1 $ sign on Unilocal

I come here for both the cleaning and alterations. Since most of my clothes require some form of alterations I use that service a lot. I have always been happy with the service here and will continue to be a loyal customer.

Good service. Wish her prices were a bit cheaper. She is open late and on wknds. Very nice lady.

A good quality dry cleaner is of the upmost importance to me. When buying higher end clothing items, you want to know they will last or that delicate items will be preserved.
Last year, my husband had attempted to take some of his shirts to another place and the result? They disintegrated. Yes, higher end shirts fell apart because of whatever chemical they were using. He’s learned his lesson, but I had to replace a portion of his wardrobe.
In contrast, Joy takes great care of our clothing and goes above & beyond. For example, she noticed I was sick one day and gave me a Korean tea to help (it worked). Incredible!
I’m very happy to have found her.

Adding an update for wedding dress — I got my wedding dress and my husband got his wool suit cleaned here. I opted for cleaning and then boxing for long term storage. Joy was amazing to work with. My MOH dropped the dress off while I was on honeymoon, and Joy insisted on keeping the thing unpackaged until I got back and could inspect the cleaning job myself. I then came back at a later date to pick it up archived and boxed. Great service, and Joy obviously takes great pride in her work. My dress was silk with a french lace overlay, and Joy had no problem with the materials and it was done wonderfully. The dress cost about $ 175 to clean and archive.

I come here only for alterations and tailoring and Joy is just wonderful. Sometimes I buy vintage dresses and hand them to her and she customizes them to my fit. you know when you order something online and the pattern or cut its so beautiful & unique, but it just fits weird and you don’t want to return it? I hand it to Joy and she not only gives you an honest option about how the dress looks, she makes suggestions that you wouldn’t think of. I love this place and I’m so lucky to live so close by! However, she is busy and your turn around might take over a week sometimes– so if you’re on a time crunch let her know or bring it in at least two weeks early.

I want to give a special thanks to Joy for working on my wedding dress when it was last minute, she finished the dress sooner than she said she would and even called to had me try it on again to make further detail alterations.
I appreciate her honesty when she told me she could not fix a dress another tailor had ruined. She was compassionate and caring even came to work sunday. her day off to work on my dress.
Her prices are also reasonable.

The owner worked on an impossible dress for me. At the request of the bride I ordered a bridesmaid dress from the Internet. Little did I know that a size 4 is like a U.S. Size 00. Luckily I bought the dress 2 months before the wedding, though I think if I was in a rush she would have done it on time.
The dress was impossible to fit in the chest area and the owner even had to go to the fabric district twice to get extra fabric for the dress. She didn’t even charge me but in total I believe I had about 3 – 4 fittings, none were charged to me. She is really nice and strives to have happy customers. Everyone should go to her and I know I will go to her for any future cleaning or alterations.

This place was easy to find, located in a plaza on fair oaks. I came in to shorten my dress, about 5 inches. The starting price to shorten dresses are $ 10 & up, depending on the type & fabric. So it’s better to just bring your clothes in. My dress was a simple white dress made mostly from rayon. It didn’t look too complicated to do so I guess that’s why it was on the lower end of her prices. Service was fast and good. She had a small changing room and didn’t make it awkward when I was trying on the dress and she was measuring the length that she was going to take off. The dress will be ready the next afternoon which is great! She also didn’t charge me tax, score! I only took off a star because when I came and picked it up, she didn’t let me try on my dress because she’s «completely» done helping me which I thought was kinda rude.

This place Rocks! Joy is a sweet and caring lady and her customer service is out of this world. The prices are great and considering the area very reasonable. I have been to different cleaners through out the san gabriel valley and this is my cleaners from now on. I highly recommend this place to family and friends.

After pricing various places in downtown L.A., I came to check out The Cleaning Place in South Pas and they had the best deal for what I needed. I had 2 coats: 1– a purple mid length peacoat, 2 — a black long peacoat.
Both coats have sentimental value to me. I needed the hem on the black coat stitched along with the lining of the pockets. There was also a stain I wondered would even be able to come out.
The purple one needed stitching outside the pocket along with the interior. I didn’t mention the interior.
The price Joy quoted was incredibly reasonable and she surprised me by even fixing parts of the coat I didn’t mention, like the interior of the purple coat pocket. She was also to get that mysterious stain out!!!
And that’s not all! She did everything with a wonderful pleasant demeanor.
Customer service is everything to me.

Most definitely will be getting all my business with anything dry cleaning related. I got about 6 shirts all cleaned and pressed for about 20 bucks I think? Ran me 3.99 each and they actually got the yellow stains out that another dry cleaner could not remove from my collars. I know it’s probably sweat, but whatever magic cleaner they have here seems to work. Very quick, very fast turnaround, and nice Korean lady running the shop. I don’t know why there a couple of bad reviews about this place. I have had no problems thus far. I’ll be returning soon. I would like to add that this is a chain after all, so location does matter. South Pas is very clean, so I’ll keep coming here vs ghetto dry cleaning shops!

DON’T BRING EXPENSIVE SILK CLOTHES HERE.
This is a good place to bring your cheap clothes but definitely don’t bring anything expensive here. I dropped off 2 expensive silk dresses (both from Barneys) with small stains in the front and center. After I came back to pick up the dresses, I noticed on one of the dresses that I was planning to wear the following week that the small stain was gone but in place was a larger washed out stain! I asked the owner about it and she blamed it on the fabric. She did pay me for it after I gave her the receipt (it was brand new but had a small stain when I bought it) which I’m happy about but since I didn’t wear the second dress until a few months later, I didn’t notice that there was a similar washed out stain on the second dress (I posted pictures). By then, it was too late and too much trouble for me to ask the owner for another damage claim. I had already lost the receipt by then.

DO NOT BRING YOUR WEDDING DRESS HERE!
After purchasing my gorgeous, silk, one of a kind wedding dress, all ready for my upcoming wedding this year, I decided to bring it to The Cleaning Place to get some dust and dirt removed from the trim.
It looked like they had great reviews and after calling them to double check they cleaned wedding dresses, I brought it right in. Once arriving I showed them my dress and pointed out the minimal dirt that needed removing. I was told that the whole dress had to be cleaned rather than just the places that need it, and that it was no problem at all for them as they deal with wedding dresses all the time.
Two weeks later I go back in to pick up my dress and was brought around the counter to inspect it. Upon looking over my dress I noticed that there was still some dirt left. I was told that «not all stains can be removed». ‘ok.’ I thought, and carried on inspecting the dress. I then noticed that there were all of these weird looking wrinkles all over the silk fabric and asked the woman what happened. She told me that the guys who cleaned the dress had never dealt with this fabric before…
It’s a silk wedding dress… Most wedding dresses are made of silk… So, a little confused, I took a photo of the damage and asked her what she was going to do to fix this. She told me she would contact her cleaners and get back to me.
That night I talked to friends, went on forums and did a lot of research about what had possibly gone wrong with my dress and the conclusion was that it must have been placed in a washing machine with a chemical that shouldn’t have been used on silk. This then caused the silk to become cracked, which means that the silk sheen had been stripped off in crease like cracks, which is un-​fixable.
I went back in the next morning and basically told them that if they couldn’t fix my dress, I would expect them to pay for it otherwise I would take them to small claims court.
I was told that it was my fault the dress was ruined due to the fact that it didn’t have a label indicating what fabric it was and that I didn’t give them instuctions. I said to her «If you didn’t know what fabric this was and wanted instructions, you should have called me and asked before going ahead with whatever chemical you used on it» Also, this dress was a one of a kind dress that was made by an indipendant designer so I would be unable to find another just like it. I was told they were trying to fix it and that I would be contacted at a later date.
A week later they gave in and gave me my money back. I now have to find a new wedding dress… I just hope I don’t run out of time because of this.
I do want to point out that Joy (the woman in the store) was very professional and calm throughout all of this and that it was a separate cleaning warehouse who she had sent the dress to, that ruined it, not her personally.
UPDATE:
I have just purchased another wedding dress but have had to pay quite a lot extra to get a rush on it due to having run out of time.

I just took in some groomsmen suit pants that needed last minute alterations because the suit store did not tailor the waist as ordered. I was too far from the store to take it back — and because they were late delivering the groomsmen suits by 2 weeks — I needed to find a place that could let out the waist in 1 day. I took my pants here and she did a fantastic job of getting the job done fast, good quality, and for very little. I tipped her a little extra because she was so nice and professional.
If I need alterations again, I’m coming here. Thank you Cleaning Place!!! You saved the day.

A great local dry cleaning business! I had a dress dry cleaned and it was done in quickly and looked great when I went to pick it up. I thought it was a good price and I got a dollar off for being a first time customer!

I’ve been to a handful of dry cleaning places and they’re average at best in terms of professionalism and customer service so I stopped taking my shirts to the dry cleaner.
The Cleaning Place has changed my perception towards dry cleaning. They provide excellent customer service, dry cleaning, and tailoring.
I originally was looking for a local shop to tailor my shirts, pulling in the waist/​stomach area to give it a slimmer and tighter fit. She did a fantastic job and gave me complementary press/​dry cleaning for all 5 of my button up shirts. I brought in a shirt that fitted me really well and gave it to her as a sample. There was a one week turnaround for the 5 shirts. I’m not sure if that’s fast, average, or slow but I was not in a hurry so it worked out well. It cost me $ 90 total for tailoring the 5 shirts which comes out to be $ 18 a shirt with complementary dry cleaning. With the excellent craftsmanship, professionalism, and customer service, I thought it was worth it.
I will definitely go here again for tailoring and dry cleaning.
Side note: I asked how much it was to dry clean a suit (jacket and slacks) and she quoted me $ 9. From my experience here and the price, it looks like I’m bringing my custom made suits here next time for dry cleaning!

How amazing is this place? I’ve gone to about 4 different cleaners in south pasadena, and this one knocks all of them out of the park. Why? The basics:
1. Service– absolutely amazing. Joy (the owner) works her butt off, its just her, listening to classical music. She’s always so pleasant to speak to.
2. Cleanliness– her store is so clean! I’ve been to some that are musty, dusty and makes you wonder how they clean your clothes if the store isn’t clean!
3. Always on time
4. Never a doubt that my clothes will be in great shape and clean when I get them
5. Pay Cash– always helps and sometimes you can get a discount
6. Not cheap, but worth every penny when service is that good… ex: $ 4.99 per blouse
