Amis Creperie + Cafe

I’ve been here several times now. Consistently tasty coffee, tea and ice cream (haven’t tried a crêpe yet since I never come near mealtime). Don’t miss out the homemade flavored syrups for your coffee (Tahitian and Rose Spice) and homemade ice cream. I could eat a dozen of their affogatos… soooo good! Wifi is solid, nice workspace and friendly, knowledgeable people. I have a lot of allergies and they were happy to accommodate.

This place is awesome, their sweet crepes always hit the spot. Unfortunately my favorite crêpe seems to be seasonal, however the owner is very customer oriented, he told me the reason I couldn’t get my crêpe was because this time of year the ingredients just aren’t right. I have to respect someone who has so much pride that if his product isn’t perfect then he won’t offer it. He is also always trying new things and making new crepes so check in regularly.

2^nd Crêpe joint in two days. My 8 year old loves crepes. Who doesn’t like Crepes!!! Nice location! Easy to get to from freeway. Clean, friendly, good service, good coffee, good crêpe! Had the ham, egg, and cheese crêpe. Would have liked some kind of salsa or hot sauce on it, but I didn’t ask for any. Owner was there and very friendly. We will be back the next time we are in the area.

Enjoyed the gruyère cheese, mushroom and spinach crêpe. Added ham. Everything is fresh and made to order. The crêpe was filling and tasty. Will definitely go back again. They also have home made ice cream and desert crepes.

I’ve been here once to study and absolutely love this place. It’s new, modern and I love the interiors of this place. What caught my attention the most was the wood counters I was using my laptop and studying on. Although there isn’t too much space to work, I really liked the counter top. You get a view of Grand Ave and it’s really neat being there at night too.
Downsides to this place is that it can get a little noisy due to the bar downstairs. The bathrooms are also pretty far in a separate location of the café.
The baristas were very friendly and actually get to know the customers which is awesome. They keep you feeling comfortable and are very fast in preparing the drinks and food. I ordered a latte which was made perfectly and tried some of their crepes. I suggest anyone from South City to try this café! Especially if you want to go to a café different from Antigua down the street or Starbucks.

Stop by this place for great coffee and delicious crepes! I happened upon Amis by chance and glad I did. Enjoyed a cup of pour over and a crêpe while looking out on to City Hall.

I literally just left this place and scarfed down my NOT Nutella Crêpe and slowly savoring the Spiced Rose Latte.
First, let me just say, the owner, Mark had the best customer service I have every experienced in a long time. He’s definitely hands on with what he serves and that makes a whole lot of difference. He’s knowledgeable and takes pride with his food and beverage.
On to the drink/​food — The Spiced Rose Latte has definitely left an impression, in the best way. Its made with rose water, cinnamon, and cardamom. WHAT?! First thing I said was (other than «WOW») «This should be an ice cream». Low and behold, Mark has plans to turn it into an ice cream. Mark, if you’re reading this, let me know when this comes to fruition. IThe Latte had a great blend of coffee and rose/​spice flavor.
The NOT Nutella Crêpe — first, its NOT made with Nutella, but from a local company. He let me know this and was honest and said the hazelnut flavor is more stronger than Nutella and let me make my decision based off that. I tried it and it was delish.
I plan to try his savory crepes. What a great addition to the area!

Best handmade ice cream around! So delicious. Generous portions.

OMG.
I love traveling because you find new wonderful places to try. And it’s a delight when the food is exceptional. We’ll have a stay cation and come to South City to Amis for the BEST ICE CREAM. Better than Birite. Better than Slocombe. I had the Afogato with Four Barrel espresso overpour with Tahitian Vanilla ice cream and it rocked my world. The wife had Strawberry ice cream that was also a delight! Will be back for the crepes next time. Seriously worth a stop on Grand for a respite especially when traffic sucks on 101.

The owner of the shop is the best. My friend and I were desperate for coffee and ice cream and this cute little place was across the street. Tragically they ran out of crepes when we got there but it’s cool. My friend got a scoop of vanilla ice cream and I got an iced spiced rose latte which has a nice cinnamon kick.
The owner was so confident that it would be the best we’ve ever had that he said if I didn’t like my latte he’d give me a refund. I was a little skeptical because I have an obsession with lattes but the quality here is SOOO GOOD and the owner is really cool to talk to.
Me and my friends are leaving SF tomorrow but we’re already talking about how we can squeeze a trip back here to try their crepes. My only regret is not realizing I could get 15% for checking in…

Mmmmm! I had an SMG with an egg and it was delicious! The crêpe was crisp and served in a cone. Definitely a good option for something on the go.
Service was just a little slow because there was only one employee there, but she makes delicious food

First off I agree with Artem, I wouldn’t mark this as a single $. Double that, and that would be more realistic. The bf and I spent $ 18 on one crêpe, a coffee and a kombucha drink which were all very delicious. Bf almost didn’t want me to buy the coffee because he didn’t think any coffee should be $ 7.50. He was also afraid that if he liked it, he would crave a $ 7.50 coffee that he never knew about before. Well guess what. He LOVED it and claimed it was the best coffee he’s ever had. Try it for yourself, it’s like a root beer float but with coffee. It reminded me of Andytown’s Snowy Plover but I would have to agree, that Amis Nitro-​Brew Float was better.
We talked to gentleman that was there about the ice cream in the coffee and learned that it’s Tahitian Vanilla made in shop. So good! He was really friendly and we chatted about the traffic of the shop since it was dead during the time we came in.
I got the breakfast crêpe without meat and it was delicious! Was it worth the almost $ 7? Yes but not without my pockets being a little sad. I would definitely come back, but it would have to be well considered since it is a pretty pricey breakfast/​snack.

Great crepes, very tasty, great coffee too.
However portions are very small, if you hungry you likely to spend over $ 20, so you could mark this place between $$ and $$$
I’m honestly surprised that community marked this place as cheap. Really misleading.

Tried this place out during a staycation with myself and my daughter. When walking in the place it was charming and the employees were very pleasant. We tried the spinach and mushroom crêpe and it was ok. Problem has a lot to do with the Gruyère cheese and not being a huge fan but also the crêpe was a little to thick for me and a little on the soggy side. So, all in all 3 ½ stars.

Craving crepes and coffee we looked and found Ami’s on Unilocal (where else?!). After reading the raving reviews we decided stopped by after picking up our Hot Chocolate Race bibs.
We’ve never met anyone more passionate about crepes, coffee, sourcing locally, and quality than Mark.
We ordered the following crepes:
–Breakfast (fried egg and cheese) — This was delicious. Our kids loved it and kept telling Mark how good it was!
–Spinach, mushroom, gruyère — Very flavorful — the combination of the three ingredients was perfect. The crêpe was prepared with the right amount of crisp and bite.
–Funky Monkey (Banana, chocolate, peanut butter) — One word: WOW!
–Los YUC — Guatamala drip coffee — Mark carefully measured out and slow dripped the coffee for us. This was an amazing cup.
I can’t wait to try the other items on the menu!

Nice touch being a café that sources locally… but obviously that comes at a bit of an upcharge. Adding items (off menu included) is about $ 1.50/item as well, just an FYI. Quality is pretty good, but size-​wise, it left a bit to be desired. For a $ 10 crêpe, I do expect it to fill me up for a lunch… especially in South City… but it didn’t…
Additionally, there were a few snafus and observations that definitely affected my overall experience at Amis. First, we had an order made incorrectly. They did comp a replacement crêpe though… which was good on the customer service part, but still worth mentioning. Secondly, my crêpe decided that it didn’t feel like containing itself within the handy crêpe holder… and I couldn’t find an extra napkin anywhere. When I asked one of the clerks behind the counter, she couldn’t either… but eventually a paper plate was procured. And lastly, I can be a bit of a germophobe, so to see the clerk physically handle the coffee beans by hand (weighing it to grind for the pour over, putting extras back into the bag, etc) was a little off-​putting.

Very tasty chocolate crêpe. Good consistency. They used real TCHO chocolate.
I also tried their spinach and gruyère crêpe, as well as their ham and cheese. I talked to the owner, and they use organic ingredients when available (and I could tell by the quality of the ingredients). They also use organic strauss butter.
Overall, this is a really cute café and a really good addition to the area. I will be back!

Super yummy crepes n good service. I ordered the spinach crêpe n added egg to it, n really tasty. Their dessert crepes are also yummy n it’s perfect size.
I called ahead n ordered n went by to pick it up.
Good change of pace options for the area.

Finally got to try Amis on Day 2 of their grand opening. All crepes until ⁹⁄₇ are BOGO, so I must take advantage!
The place is cozy with a few bar stools, some outlets along the window to plug in, and an L-​shaped bench to sit. The huge windows make the space nice and bright. The awesome ceiling fans give the shop a very slight breeze and the local artwork on the wall brings in the community aspect of the business. Cool!
I ordered the following:
/​/​Turkey Pesto Crêpe /​/​This is a must order. The pesto itself is excellent. Not too oily and there is a nice touch of garlic. Turkey slices were not too thick so I was able to bite into it without pulling all of the meat out. The juices started to leak toward the end so the plate got a bit soggy. I think the paper plate is temporary until they get some legit crêpe sleeves. No biggie for Day 2.
/​/​Not Nutella /​/​This is exactly what it says, NOT Nutella. It’s a homemade sauce made from hazelnut, butter, chocolate, and espresso to make it taste like Nutella — very different and is almost the same flavor. However, it’s a bit grainy from the espresso and the consistency is definitely not thick. I ordered it with bananas and they were almost too ripe for my liking. I will probably try this with strawberries next time.
/​/​Ethiopian Four Barrel Drip Coffee /​/​Great choice for drinking it black. Rich and smooth with a slight nutty flavor. Not acidic like other Four Barrel varieties.
/​/​Boncora Biscotti /​/​Straight from Sonoma, they serve these babies at $ 1.50 a piece. Goes great with the Four Barrel and a good option if you don’t want a heavy item like a crêpe.
Staff was super friendly and turned around crepes and drinks quickly. I will be a regular for sure to try all the items on the menu!
