Amazing sandwich, best I have ever had. I order the .38 Special and every time I do, I relish every last bite. Dutch crunch is a great bread but it was also very very good on soft roll. There is so much packed between the buns and everyone I have referred this sandwich to has absolutely loved it! The owners of this place are absolutely delightful and write cute things on our sandwiches«38 special because youre special».

Awesome sandwiches. Huge meat ratio, followed by great customer service. The girl making the sandwiches must be the hardest working gal on the planet. Had multiple sandwiches to make and she made each one to perfection. Did not skimp or make a sloppy sandwich despite having ten to make at once. Had a rootbeer milkshake as well, and that was just the bomb.

Ok, the fact that the deli was in a liquor store, a bit off putting, when I walked in(5pm) it looked as if it was closed but the(literally) mom and pop behind the counter insisted it wasnt. The menu is huge, the variety almost paralyzing but I settled on the pastrami the woman asked me what kind of Bread I liked, not what I wanted, but what I liked, what a pleasant way to start, she completely wanted to make the sandwich the way I wanted rather than put up with my special requests(I didn’t have any). She made me try a pickle slice before deciding whether I wanted it, sigh where has this customer service been? I suppose competing with Subway directly across the street has a price… and BBD’S price point of 9.00 could have some people walking to subway… but now, not me. This was a un sxrimpy, tailored sandwich the way they used to be made… business esthetics aside, this place is Awesome… I’ve enclosed a pic and as I type I’ve eaten half… though with this many onions(I asked for a lot) no one should be standing close when I push ‘post’… great pkace, highly recommend!

Great sandwich(despite running out of the bread I wanted), but it took forever to make.

My gf and I was hungry for some sandwiches and planned to try Little Lucas since we were near. Sister and brother-in-law, SSF natives, recommended to try this place out and I’m glad we listened. I ordered the Breathless while my gf ordered the San Franphysco both on dutch crunch. It sure wasn’t easy selecting the sandwiches because there are 20+ speciality sandwiches that all sound delicious! As we were waiting for our sandwiches, Ram did an excellent job at keeping us entertained and telling us his background on how his entrepreneurship started. Each sandwich name has a story behind it so dont be shy to ask Ram about it. This spot is in a perfect spot being very close to the 101 freeway and is convenient as it is open till 12am for those who are hungry after a event or club. Shoot, if you’re leaving SF and heading South, you might as well grab a sandwich, trust me it’s worth it. Anyway, let’s get back to the sandwiches. Neither of the sandwiches seemed to be too much sauce or tasted unhealthy which other shops fail at. Both were exceptionally good but I digged my girls San Franphysco a little more than my Breathless sandwich. It must have been good because my girl would typically leave me her half of the sandwich but this chick took it home to eat later and I PAIDFORIT. Haha. Thanks Ram for the great experience and we’ll be coming back to try the many other sandwiches.

After ordering through eat24 I called after 10 minutes to see when my pickup time would be. She said«oh yeah there’s an order. My son won’t be here for another hour. He will make it then» I told her to cancel it. No apologies & just a waste of time. I don’t know how their sandwiches are and never will because I refuse to give my business to people who don’t even care enough to CALL to let me know they’re unable to fulfill orders they’re accepting. AND I STILL had to contact eat24 to cancel the order. Get it together!

I got to try the ruben sandwich for lunch today. It was huge! And they don’t take it easy on the meat. It was so good too! I will have to go back and try their many other sandwiches. I also had their peanut butter milkshake and it was legit! Just the right amount of thickness to the shake. it was perfect!

This is a hidden gem! I’m always craving hot pastrami. I’ve been to several sandwich shops from the iconic Ike’s to Mr. Pickles to Mrs. Tomato’s. Big Belly blows them all away. They use top ingredients. Every slice of meat and cheese is cut right in front of you for maximum freshness. They really take their time to craft the perfect ratio of ingredients. We were able to sample the meat right from the cuter. Now that’s customer service! The names are memorable and the variety is excellent. I can’t wait until their grass fed burgers become available.

Difficult to find. It’s actually located right inside the liquor store and on the left side. They have a lot of interesting options. I forgot what mine was called, but had grilled chicken breast in it. It was honestly alright, and nothing special. In fact, my bread was burnt when they toasted it. Sandwich wasn’t that large either for the price you pay. Go to Little Luca’s instead. It’s worth the wait.

Great customer service and great sandwhiches. It was the first time trying this place as I found it from Unilocal. We ordered 2 sandwhiches and a milkshake. Although it took a while, for who I assume was the owner of the spot, it was worth the wait. The guy making our sandwhiches was choppin’ it up with us as he made out sandwhiches, welcoming us to the store and the multitude of options on the menu. The possibilities are truly endless. There is a great selection of sandwhiches as well as bagel sandwhiches. If you don’t like what’s presented on the menu, you can make your own or substitute certain toppings on select sandwhiches. The .38 special was soooooo good. I think it’s because of the pesto(or I really just love the pesto). I would recommend it. Then again, there’s so many sandwhiches to choose from, they leave you coming back for more. As for customer service, the man who made our sandwhiches was very helpful and asked us how we like our sandwhiches, light-medium-or-heavy on the saucees. He even let us sample the meat we were putting on our sandwhiches to make sure we were ok with it. Nonetheless, I’ll be coming for more!

I’ve had a few bad experiences with this deli. Either the wait was too long for a sandwich when I was the only customer during off-peak time of the day; or more than an hour wait for delivery, again, during off-peak hours. She is too apologetic and it drove me crazy. .I just want my sandwich. I stayed away from this place because of several bad experiences… but I had to swallow my pride. They do have good meat and I couldn’t stay away from my favorite killing them softly. I learned to call ahead to place my order. Now I can have my sandwich and eat it too.

Walked in last night, starving. The deli owner was super patient with me(couldn’t decide what I wanted), and served me up a fantastic sandwich. I was genuinely impressed with both the sandwich, and the attitude in which it was served.

This place doesn’t even deserve one star… Delivery took over an hour for three sandwiches… The delivery person called when she was right in front of my house so I COULDCOMEDOWNANDGETMYFOOD… She was parked side ways with her hand out the window smoking a cigarette… Total was outrageous for the basic sandwiches I ordered… If you want to get ripped off for lunch then order from here but id rather take my business else where!

Meh. I wanted to like this place a lot, tried three different sandwiches and a shake. The ingredients are good but the combination of the ingredients just don’t work. The owner is super nice, so nice that I went back two more times to try a different sandwich. Good quality meat only gets you so far, especially with all the sandwich shop competition near by.

There is nothing special about this place. Sandwich counter in a liquor store. I have had 2 Sandwiches from here and they took like 30 minutes to make them with no other customers. All of the many sandwiches on their menu have names like«Gotti», etc. so then you are looking at the menu like«I just want a club, where the hell is the club?» or even basics like a Ham and Cheese, etc. All of the reviews seem to focus on the meat which is Boar’s head. Sound familiar? That is the same stuff the Safeway Deli uses so whoopie… and parking is all metered with the old style meters so bring change because they don’t take cards

I had my first sandwich in a LONG time from Big Belly. When you’ve been on the paleo lifestyle, bread or anything manufactured food item becomes diet enemy #1. Sandwiches are especially bad in that regard. It doesn’t mean that I can never have them but like Charleston Heston says on TV… but WHEN I DO… I prefer Big Belly Deli’s sandwiches. South SF has become the place for sandwiches. I can count more than seven quality sandwich places in this area excluding Subway and Togo’s that use high quality bread, meats, and combinations that are both conventional and unconventional at the same time. In my lifetime, I’ve tried many of those places but when I heard that Big Belly and how they are located in a liquor store and are serving real deal sandwiches from scratch? As Guy Fieri likes to say, let’s start the train to Flavortown! To be fair, the owner Shazana has very little to no help and she does most of this legwork herself. Thus when I went in on a Friday night to order some sandwiches for the weekend, I knew it may take a while since the word has gotten out about this place. I highly recommend that you set your expectations accordingly when coming here. Yes it may take a while but she does a good job and I think most of us can agree that we support hard working entrepreneurs like Shazana who want to succeed and are willing to put the time in to do so. After extensively reviewing the liquor store offerings(King Cobra, Mickey’s, Steel Reserve malt liquor, Kung Pao flavored Jack Link’s beef jerky), my sandwiches were finally ready. When all was said and done, the Provolone Capone(genoa salami, mortadella, hot coppa, provolone, peppers, oil and vinegar) and the Boss Boss(peppered salami, provolone, artichoke hearts, spinach, and avocado) were both worth the wait. The sandwiches were built in such a way that when she wrapped the sandwich in the paper, it was so tight that it kept all of the ingredients intact. Coming from a former Togo’s worker, I can certainly appreciate the care and skill in not only making a good sandwich but also wrapping it tightly as well. I wish you and your business the best of luck and when I do decide to cheat on my diet again, I’ll make sure to have you at the top of my list for my cheat day.

It’s my first time coming to Big Belly Deli, but I can say that I’m a big fan. I saw the deli’s listing on Eat24 a few weeks ago and I just got the chance to visit the place today. Shazana was super helpful and she even recommended a few sandwiches for me to try out. I tried the San Franpsycho today and I can’t wait to come back and try them all!!! Thank you so much Shazana, I found my new favorite deli: D

This is literally a hidden gem of a sandwich shop because it is hidden in the back of a corner mom and pop shop. I want it to stay hidden because I worry about what will happen when they become THE place to go for sandwiches. Though by the look of the reviews, word is out already. I loved the multiple sandwich and milkshake combinations. We pretty much just picked a candy bar to go in our bacon milkshake. Sandwiches are nice and toasty. The only thing that was a challenge is their timing. They took a long time from when I placed my order to when I finally got my sandwich. One guy gave up and had to leave empty handed. I’m hopeful that will be fixed the next time I go there. The owners seem very enthusiastic about their sandwich making which is refreshing. I’m crossing my fingers they last for a long time. I mean, how many places make a quality deli sandwich at 10 pm?
