I’m always the last person to be served in a group. Not sure how that came to be my lot in life, but so it is. I was happily served last and I’m ok with it bc my eggs were scrumptious. Although I think my co-diners were about to spear me with their utensils bc I was seriously eyeing up their meals. ^Parking: plenty to be had on Grand, but it’s only an hour at a time with no way to get your extra quarters back. Shaking my fist at you parking meter! ^Décor/Location: it’s a very narrow place and you’ll miss it if you’re not looking. But I’ve always found the unassuming places to have the most character. I took one star off bc it felt a bit grimy and I did see some flies. This is such a tiny place I feel they can make a better effort to keep it 100% clean. There was also a bunch of stuff piled up on one table which is fine in a house, not a restaurant. ^Food: I had the chorizo eggs and it was amazingly spicy and flavorful. Everything was crisped up just right, and very well seasoned. The home fries were also perfectly done, extra crispy on the outside and squishy on the inside. Tell me your secrets! My co-diners clearly agreed as we lapsed into silence while eating. The coffee was decent. ^Service: I thought overall things went well, there was only the chef and the server/owners? Either way, they paid attention to us and were helpful. Meals were clearly cooked to order and timely. Overall, I’ll definitely return bc this is a great spot to grab a tasty breakfast before heading off to SFO.

We are visiting San Fran and found this great sounding restaurant on Unilocal. The Unilocal says open at 8:00am… NOPE!!! The Google maps says 9:00… So we entertain ourselves till 9:00… 9:20… Still closed… No sign saying they’re closed for the day… No info anywhere saying they are closed… We called no answering machine or anything!!! GREATCUSTOMERSERVICE… NOT!!!

Had a great brunch here over the weekend! It’s such a small restaurant from the outside, my eyes slid over it a couple times before I finally saw it. My friend and I came on a Saturday around 11:30, and there was no wait! I’m so used to long waits for brunches in the city, so this was such a nice and refreshing change. My second shock of the morning came when I looked at the menu. All of their items were very reasonably priced, around the $ 7 – 9 range. I ordered a small glass of freshly squeezed OJ for only $ 3 and it was really tasty and satisfying. Woohoo! Ended up ordering an omelette with some additional add-ons and thought it was done very well. The eggs were cooked just right(most places will overcook the eggs imo) and the chunks of avocado in my omelette were freaking ginormous! I was one stuffed and happy camper when I left with my wallet only $ 14 lighter :) Parking is mostly metered street parking in this area except for on Sundays. It’s pretty cheap though, I paid $ 1 for an hour’s worth of parking. I love brunch, so I definitely want to come back to this place and try some of their other brunch items. The Spanish potato pancake sounds intriguing!

Employees are very friendly! Very cozy place, the size of restaurants is not big but fill with people who is craving for breaksfast. We order Spanish pancake which is very tasty and the steak omelet we order is very good as well. They have homemade cheesecake which is very delicious!

So far so good. It’s a narrow place with a great view of the food line! These peeps are hustling to get it done. It amazing how efficient they are. Tried the cheesecake and the Spanish potato pancake. So light and fluffy but perfect as an appetizer so we shared. The food coming out looks amazing! Can’t wait to get ours! Argh, I was defeated by a delicious omelette. The starters were too much and now can’t finish. It’s a rough life, what can I say? ;-) Notice no pictures posted. Too scrumptious. Mmmmm

Ok… so this is just an amazing little hole in the wall. The chef/owner is super talented. He makes pretty much one order at a time so if it is busy you have a but of a wait but totally worth it. The benedicts are delicious; he put a tiny bit of honey in the hollandaise which gives it a nice layer of flavor. Enjoy.

This place has great food and service ONTOP of delicious, cheap food. Plus if you sit at the counter you get to watch everything being made. Which could be good or bad.

Watching these two behind the counter is like watching Mr and misses smith in action. Dancers on a small stage.

It is an intimate atmosphere in a very small hall. The staff was nice and friendly. Try their huge hamburger. But pancake didn’t impress me… Price is very reasonable.

I’ve lived in SSF for 30 years and never new this place existed! I had the andouille sausage omelet with hash browns and toast. I loved it! It was simply perfect!!! There was a little wait, but it wasn’t crazy. We sat at the table by the window, it was nice to have a little space and a view of good old Grand Avenue!

We came to visit San Francisco for spring break and wanted to stop by for some breakfast and I found this little café with good ratings so I was super excited to try out the food… SERVICE: We walk in, and the place is pretty busy(mind you this is a really small joint) with only 2 employees… one being the cook and the other employee doing everything: hostess, waitress, cleaning tables, dish washer, and helping the cook… the lady employee looked stressed! THEYNEEDMOREEMPLOYEES! We wanted to ask a question about the menu, and she told us to wait, I felt bad because she was doing everything at once and looked soo stressed, but I was ready to walk out and leave this place. The waitress took about 20 minutes to finally make a stop at our table and take our order(too long when we were ready after 5 min from being seated) FOOD: The wait time to get our food was about 20 minutes, not bad at all for being one person cooking for everyone. The food overall made up for the bad service. Delicious french toast and avocado omelette! The waitress was such a sweatheart but they need more employees to help this lady out. When I was walking out, I told the waitress to not work so hard because she was hustling trying to do everything, such a hardworker!

I’ve been wanting to come here for the longest time and I finally got to come to this spot yesterday(3÷20÷2016). I’ve seen so many great reviews about the food here, so I thought I would bookmark it on Unilocal and save it for a rainy day. It’s funny because yesterday was a rainy day, so I was like, OKAY. I have to come here before I hang out with my boyfriend and a few other people. When you come to this place, try to find street parking because the parking lot that’s around the area is pretty expensive compared to the meters they have around Downtown South San Francisco. When I arrived at this place with my boyfriend and a few other friends, it was pretty small. You can either dine at the counter or you can have a table to yourself, but it’s not that big of a place, so I would recommend dining with a group of 4 people MAX. You just wait inside the restaurant and the waiter will take your name down and seat you when a table/seat is available. It didn’t take too long to seat us down since there wasn’t a huge line or anything, but it did take a bit to get our order started and to get more water. Since there was a lot of people in the restaurant and only one waiter, he was mostly running back and forth in between orders, but that was completely fine with me. He did apologize and said that because the chefs are a bit new and that it just takes a bit to put in the order. He offered for us to try the Japanese Cheesecake they have on the weekends and MYLORD. It was DELICIOUS. It was so airy and light and the chocolate drizzle complemented everything. Also, take into consideration that brunch starts at 10:30, so you can order brunch or breakfast. The menu is VERY affordable and there’s a variety of options you can choose from. I ended up getting the Eggs Benedict w/avocado and hash browns and I have to say, it was DELICIOUS. The hash browns were well seasoned and crispy, while the poached eggs were runny, the Canadian bacon was grilled to perfection and the English muffin was toasted perfectly. It was presented so beautifully and it was a pretty good portion too. 10⁄10 would come again! I’ll just hopefully come at a better time when it isn’t TOO busy.

I have been to this place now maybe 5 times, and each time I try a new item. This time I had their potato pancake and it was amazing! Good mix of savory sweet along with not leaving me feeling hungry afterwards. Coffee is on point as well. Service: excellent! Limited table space/counter spots. The place is narrow so you might feel a little packed in especially once the late brunch/breakfast crowd begins filtering in. It is really cool to see the cooks working so closely, if you are questioning what food items to order just watch as a few common items come straight off the grill, less than 10 feet from your nose. Price: you can easily get away with two person meal for less than $ 20 plus tip. Last time we were in our server offered up some Japanese cheesecake to go with our meal, it was excellent! Love the place keep it up!

The Country Cottage Café doesn’t really have a country cottage feel. It’s a small, narrow restaurant with the kitchen front and center so it’s like breakfast and a show. Plus I really like the reasonable prices here. I wanted something savory and ordered the Spanish Potato Pancake. It was lighter than I expected and was very flavorful. The bacon added a nice saltiness and crispy texture. While service is friendly, I was disappointed as they totes forgot to make my eggs that I ordered on the side. It came out after I was almost finished with my pancake. I think the restaurant is Japanese owned and the waiter will ask if you’re interested in ordering a slice of very light Japanese cheesecake. I passed on it during my visit but when I get the chance to return, I’ll add it to my order.

This place is a cute mom and pop shop on Grand Ave in South SF. Since it is surrounded by a bunch of other large restaurants, I don’t think I ever would’ve found it if it weren’t for Unilocal. This was probably the most affordable brunch I have had in a very long time. I ordered the 2 eggs with toast and hash browns and my friend ordered the milky chocolate chip pancakes. The scrambled eggs were perfect and not dry like most places make it, but they were a tad bit too salty but great nonetheless. The toast and hash browns were also very very good. The pancakes were nice and crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. This food was much better than most breakfast places and for half the price: AMAZING! The owners are very nice as well and the service was great. The place is nice and clean and it’s a nice and cozy shop. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!

This nook serves up some really good breakfast(and lunch)…if you are prepared to wait a minute. The operation(and location) is very small, literally a building shoved into the space of an alleyway. We started our meal off with some coffee and house made cheesecake. Yes, cheesecake. The waiter informed us right away that the kitchen was backed-up and that the wait for food would take up to 20 minutes. So we requested the cheesecake first. The cheesecake was fluffy and not too sweet but did not contain any kind of crust — pretty good. Next came the Spanish pancake. They definitely did not skimp on the bacon! Fluffy, savory, and delicious! The second dish that came out was the Huevos Rancheros. Just okay in the my opinion. Kind of felt like it was missing something — Chorizo? Cilantro? Fresh pico? I don’t know… but it was something. Next was the Bacon & Avocado Benedict. The poached eggs very a tad overdone in my opinion, but it was still a solid dish. Doesn’t replace a regular benedict in my opinion though. Bacon just isn’t meaty enough. Lastly, we shared a milky chocolate pancake… because they just looked absolutely enormous! This one didn’t disappoint with exception that we were completely stuffed by the time it arrived. All in all good meal. Great value(SSF price tag versus SF price tag, after all). But the wait was very long for food — upwards of 30 – 35 minutes. Tables were pretty much served one by one.
